        웹 기반 지능형 교육 시스템(WEST)은 학습자에게 수준별 학습을 제공하여 자기주도적 학습의 효과를 향상시키기 위하여 개발되었다. WEST는 튜터 에이전트, 관리자 모듈, 교사 모듈, 학습자 모듈로 구성되어 있다. 튜터 에이전트는 교사에 의해 출제된 학숨 자료를 이용하여 개인화된 학습을 지원하는 핵심적인 부분으로 학습자의 능력에 적합한 수준별 문항을 생성한다. 관리자 모듈은 과목 관리 및 회원관리 기능을 가지며, 교사 모듈에서는 문제의 유형을 정의한 후 문제를 입력하고 수정하는 등의 문제 관리 작업을 수행한다. 학습자 모듈에서는 학습자에게 튜터 에이전트에 의해 제공되는 수준별 학습 문항 및 학습 결과를 실시 간으로 제공한다. WEST는 고등학교 공통수학 과목에 적용되었으며, 세 가지 수준의 문제 유형이 준비되었다. WEST를 기존 시스템과의 비교 분석한 결과, 특히 개인의 능력에 따른 수준별 학습을 제공하는 기능이 우수하다는 사실을 확인하였다. A web-based intelligent education system(WEST) was designed and implemented to improve the self-directed study for students by providing them the study according to one's ability WEST is composed of a tutor agent, an administrator module, a teacher module and a student module. The tutor agent analyzes students' ability and selects questions from a database according to their ability. The administrator module administrates subjects and students. The teacher module makes questions with three levels and administrates questions. The students module dives the questions students and the result of study. WEST was used in a mathematics subject for high-school students. Especially our system was better than the others in study according to students' ability.

      • Aerosol Reactor를 이용한 고분자 입자의 제조

        Spherical polymer particles with narrow size distribution have been prepared by aerosol-phase polymerization. The aerosol-phase reactor has advantages over the conventional methods in the preparation of spherical, monodisperse particles with controllable size. The aerosol reaction system consisted of seed generator, boiler, condenser, reboiler, recondenser, reactor and particle collector in series. The polyurea particles were prepared by the reaction of TDI(toluene-2,4-diisocyanate) or HDI(hexamethylenediisocyanate) droplets with EDA(ethylenediamine) vapor. The use of seed(NaCl) nuclei helped the polymer particles smaller in size and made the size distribution of the particles narrower. The particle size increased substantially with boiler temperature and decrease slightly with increasing the carrier gas flow rate. Increase in reboiler temperature improved the monodispersity of the particle size. Sphericity and surface smoothness of the particles were improved by decreasing particle size and controlling the reaction rates. The coating of TiO₂on the surface of the preapared polymer paticles was carried out by condensing Ti(Oet)₄on the particle surface and subsequently reacting the liquid film with water vapor. The reaction system was also applied to prepare polyamide particles successfully.

      • 만경강 오염수에서 서식하는 붕어의 아가미와 신장의 비정상적인 조직

        수질오염이 수중 생물에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 전주천의 하수종말처리장에 서식하는 붕어의 아가미, 신장을 사용하였다. 하수종말처리장 주변의 온도는 높고 오염물질은 빈번하게 유입되었다. 이와 같은 환경조건에서, 붕어는 아가미에서 일차 새변(primary lamella)의 부종(edema), 상피 탈락 혹은 분리(epithelial lifting or separation), 완전한 괴사(complete necrosis), 이차 새변(secondary lamella), 두께의 증가, 새변의 비대(lamellar hypertrophy) 증식(hyperplasia) 그리고 이차 새변의 유합(fusion)되는 등의 비정상적인 구조를 보여주었다. 신장에서는 급성의 관상의 괴사, 신세관과 사구체가 위축되었고, 사구체의 모세관의 기저막이 두꺼워졌다. 또한, 노랗고 어두운 갈색의 색소를 가지는 확장된 melanomacrophage centres와 공포, 거대세포(giant cells)같은 병변이 나타났다. 붕어의 아가미와 신장조직의 비정상적인 구조는 오염수역의 원생생물 및 세균 감염에 의한 영향이라고 생각된다. Gill and kidney tissue of Carassius auratus are used to investigate the effects of the water pollution on aquatic organisms inhabiting the Jeonju stream near a sewage disposal plant on the Mangyong River, Korea. Around the sewage disposal plant the water temperature is high and pollutants flow into the streams frequently. In the Jeonju stream, Carassius auratus shows abnormal structures in the gills: edema of primary gill lamella, epithelial lifting or separation, complete necrosis, increase of secondary lamella thickness, lamella hypertrophy, hyperplasia, and secondary gill lamellar fusion. The kidneys of the fishes also have abnormal structures: acute tubular necrosis, shrunken renal tubules and glomerulus, thickened capillary basement membrane of the renal glomerulus. In addition, the kidney shows pathological structures such as enlarged melanomacrophage centres with golden and dark brown pigments, vacuoles, and giant cells. It was considered that these abnormal tissue of the gills and kidneys in the crucian carps were affected by the parasites or bacteria in the polluted waters.

        매복 견치 및 저위교합 제 1대구치의 자가 이식에 의한 치험례

        In orthodontic treatment of certain cases of tooth loss, aplasia, or ectopia, autotransplantation is sometimes valid treatment alternative often provides and improved result, compared to conventional orthodontic treatment, an apprporiate donor tooth is available and the anatomic circumstances permit it. Clinically, successful transplants must show a radiolucent space between the roots and surroundings bone. There must be no evidence of ankylosis, no permanent root resorption, and no inflammation. Histologically, the criterion of success is a normal and functional periodontal ligament between the root surfaces of transplants and the bone, or gingival connective tissues. The successful autotransplantation of a impacted maxillary canine and infraoccluded mandibular 1st molar is reported. In case Ⅰ, impacted canine with incompletely developed root apex was maintained pulp vitality due to appropriate root development and short extraoral time, atraumatic surgical procedure. In case Ⅱ, infraoccluded molar was started endodontic treatment after 3 weeks. Because of closed apex, possibility of revasculization is rare. Both case Ⅰ, Ⅱ did not ankylosis and the periodontal and periapical tissues appears to be normal after 3 months. In autotransplantation cases it is important to transplant the tooth as quickly and as atraumatically as possible to dimish the chance of ankylosis and root resorption. In all cases of transplantation, patient selection minimal operating time, and good oral hygine will increase the chance for a successful prognosis.

        한국 정신장애의 역학 조사 연구[I] : 각 정신장애의 유병률

        Objectives : This study aims to estimate the prevalence of the DSM-IV psychiatric disorders in Korean population using the Korean version of Composite International Diagnostic Interview (K-CIDI). Methods : Subjects were selected by taking multi-stage, cluster samples of 7,867 adult household residents, 18 to 64 years of age, in ten catchment areas. Total 78 trained interviewers administered the K-CIDI to the selected respondents, from June 1 to November30,2001. Results : Total 6,275 respondents completed the interview. Some 33.5% of respondents reported at least one lifetime disorder, 20.6% reported at least one-year disorder, and 16.7% reported at least one-month disorder. The most common lifetime disorders were alcohol abuse/dependence (17.24%), nicotine dependence/withdrawal (11.19%), specific phobia (5.16%), and major de-pressive disorder (4.25%). The lifetime prevalence of substance abuse/dependence (0.25%) and schizophrenia (0.16%) was very low. Nicotine and alcohol use disorder showed very high male/female ratio. Mood disorder and anxiety disorder were more prevalent among female than male. Conclusion : The prevalence of psychiatric disorders was high. In comparison with other studies, remarkable differences in distributions of psychiatric disorders across the areas and times were observed.

        Investigation on Health Effects of an Abandoned Metal Mine

        <P>To investigate potential health risks associated with exposure to metals from an abandoned metal mine, the authors studied people living near an abandoned mine (n=102) and control groups (n=149). Levels of cadmium, copper, arsenic, lead, and zinc were measured in the air, soil, drinking water, and agricultural products. To assess individual exposure, biomarkers of each metal in blood and urine were measured. β<SUB>2</SUB>-microglobulin, α<SUB>1</SUB>-microglobulin, and <I>N</I>-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase and bone mineral density were measured. Surface soil in the study area showed 2-10 times higher levels of metals compared to that of the control area. Metal concentrations in the groundwater and air did not show any notable differences between groups. Mean concentrations of cadmium and copper in rice and barley from the study area were significantly higher than those of the control area (<I>p</I><0.05). Geometric means of blood and urine cadmium in the study area were 2.9 µg/L and 1.5 µg/g Cr, respectively, significantly higher than those in the control area (<I>p</I><0.05). There were no differences in the levels of urinary markers of early kidney dysfunction and bone mineral density. The authors conclude that the residents near the abandoned mine were exposed to higher levels of metals through various routes.</P>

        Biological Control of Thrips palmi (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) with Orius strigicollis (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae) on Cucumber in Plastic Houses in the Southern Region of Korea

        Field evaluations were conducted to determine the efficacy of Orius strigicollis for biological control of Thrips palmi with different initial density in plastic houses. O. strigicollis released three times after 0, 5, 30, 100 thrips were inoculated per 30 cucumber plants. Three hundred and sixty predators were released in each plot. After inoculation of 5 T. palmi per 30 plants in each plot in plastic houses, T. palmi population increased rapidly with 16.3 individuals per plant in the fourth week, and O. strigicollis could not suppress T. palmi population because O. strigicollis population did not build up quickly. In the plot of 30 thrips inoculation, the density of O. strigicollis increased to 2.1 individuals per plant in the third week and 9.8 individuals per plant in the sixth week. The density of T. palmi increased to 33.8 individuals per plant in the sixth week. In the 100 thrips inoculation plot, the density of O. strigicollis increased to 9 individuals per plant in sixth week, which was similar to that in the 30 thrips inoculation plot. But the density of T. palmi increased rapidly from 2.9 to 384.7 individuals per plant in the sixth week. So, control of T. palmi by O. strigicollis did not appear. In autumn culture, in the 5 thrips inoculation plot, the density of O. strigicollis was so low that it could not suppress thrips density. In the 100 thrips inoculation plot, the density of T. palmi was so high that O. strigicollis could not suppress T. palmi density. In the 30 thrips inoculation plot, the density of O. strigicollis was 4.8 individuals per plant in the sixth week and the thrips population was suppressed. But O. strigicollis could not suppress the thrips population after sixth week because of low temperature and short photoperiod. These results indicate that control of T. palmi using O. strigicollis may be possible on cucumber in the spring culture.

        Screening of Some Crude Plant Extracts for Their Acaricidal and Insecticidal Efficacies

        Methanol extracts from 28 samples of 22 plant species in 17 different plant families were tested at 10,000 ppm for evaluating their insecticidal and acaricidal activities against Tetranychus urticae Koch, Aphis gossypii Glover, Myzus persicae Sulzer, Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood), and Panonychus citri (McGregor). In a test with T. urticae, extracts from Albizzia coreana twig and Pyracantha angustifolia leaf possessed potent acaricidal activities. Reproduction of T. urticae for three days significantly decreased in the extract treatments of Gardenia jasminoides, Ficus carica, and Albizzia coreana twigs. Though slight repellent activities against T. urticae were obtained from extracts of Camellia japonica seed, G. jasminoides peel and fruits, Ligustrum japonicum leaves, A. coreana twig, and Machilus thunbergii leaves in 24 h after treatment, but tended to decrease in 72 h. Extracts of F. carica leaves and G. jasminoides fruits had potent insecticidal activities against M. persicae and A. gossypii. Methanol extracts of F. carica leaves possessed insecticidal activity against T. vaporariorum. In a field test with P. citri, extracts from C. japonica seeds, A. coreana leaves, Ranunculus japonicus leaves and roots, an Houttuynia cordata leaves exhibited acaricidal activities.
