As the chip integration advances toward the CMOS VLSI integrated systems, on-chip Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) becomes more important building blocks. Key technologies in DAC is fabrication at low-cost and operation on high-performance. Highresolution and Low-Voltage DAC is required in many fields. Their advantage extends to mixed-signal systems where both frequency higher, the device shrinks into deep sub-micrometer. However the shrinking device dimensions also imply proportional scalling of power supply voltage. Advantages of alogorithmic DAC using Switched-Capacitor (SC) are suitable to the above requirement. SC operates on small chip area, low consumption of electoric power, and is compatible to MOS IC. To operate under low supply voltage, terminal of NMOS analog switch should connect to ground or virtual ground.[1] However, major performance of conventional algolithmic DAC is limited by offset voltage and spike.[2] In this paper, they shows two Low-Voltage SC cyclic DACs. They are proposed which consists of a switch, capacitor, MOSFET and operational amplifier (op-amp). Circuit operation is evaluated on SIMetrix.
A Proposal for Generating Good Assembly Sequences by Tournament Tree

In seeking further efficiency in production preparation, it is common to examine assembly sequences using digital manufacturing. The assembly sequences affect the product evaluation, so it is necessary to test several assembly sequences before actual production. However, because selection and testing of assembly sequences depends on the operator"s personal experience and intuition, only a small number of assembly sequences are actually tested. Nevertheless, there is a systematic method for generating assembly sequences using a contact-related figure. However, the larger the number of parts, the larger the number of assembly sequences geometric becomes. The purpose of this study is to establish a systematic method of generating efficient assembly sequences regardless of the number of parts. To generate such assembly sequences selectively, a "Tournament Tree," which shows the structure of an assembly sequence, is formulated. Applying the method to assembly sequences of a water valve, good assembly sequences with the same structure as the Tournament Tree are identified. The structure of such a Tournament Tree tends to have fewer steps than the others. As a test, the structure is then applied for a drum cartridge with 38 parts. In all the assembly sequences generated from the contact-related figures, the best assembly sequence is generated by using the Tournament Tree.

Shu-gyo-ryoku, a program to enhance students’ academic and career skills, was begun in the academic year 2011. Under the new program, “Career Planning” and “Career Design” were introduced as part of the liberal arts education for incoming freshmen. Approximately 500 students majoring in engineering enrolled in “Career Planning”, in which they study a “curriculum map” and how it relates to their future fields of employment. The curriculum map illustrates the connections between classes and increases students’understanding of the curriculum structure. In small groups, students discussed the curriculum in order to develop sketches of their career paths. In addition, students answered a career anchor test and though several communicative activities, improved their communication skills. A portfolio system was built into the university network to record the learning history of each student. Students are able to check their learning histories and reflect on the change in themselves during their academic careers.

“Helicobacter heilmannii” is an uncultivable spiral-shaped bacterium inhabiting the human gastric mucosa. It is larger and more tightly-coiled than H. pylori. We encountered a patient with chronic gastritis infected a “H. heilmannii”-like organism (HHLO), designated as SH6. Gastric mucosa derived from the patient was orally ingested by specific pathogen free mice. Colonization of the mice by SH6 was confirmed by electron microscopy of gastric tissue specimens. In an attempt to characterize SH6, 16S rRNA and urease genes were sequenced. The 16S rRNA gene sequence was most similar (99.4%; 1,437/1,445 bp) to HHLO C4E from a cheetah. However, the urease gene sequence displayed low similarity (81.7%; 1,240/1,516 bp) with HHLO C4E. Taxonomic analysis disclosed that SH6 represents a novel strain and should constitute a novel taxon in the phylogenetic trees, being discriminated from any other taxon, with the ability of infecting human gastric mucosa.

Evidence of a Rattling Transition in the Caged Compounds LaRu2Zn20 and LaIr2Zn20: 139La NMR Studies

We report a study of 139La(I=7/2) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to investigate the structuralphase transition in the two caged compounds LaIr2Zn20 and LaRu2Zn20 from microscopic viewpoints. The former compound shows a second-order structural phase transition around Ts = 200 Kwhereas the latter one shows a first-order structural phase transition at Ts = 150 K. For both compounds,quite narrow La-NMR lines of less that 10 kHz without any electric field gradient (EFG) atthe La site were observed at temperatures above Ts, indicating that the local symmetry at the Lasite holds a cubic symmetry. On the other hand, an EFG at La site appears at temperatures belowTs, evidencing symmetry lowering occurs at the La site at temperatures below Ts. At temperaturesaround Ts, both the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate (1/T1) and the nuclear spin-spin relaxationrate (1/T2) show unusual enhancements associated with the slowing down of the EFG fluctuations. However, the temperature dependences of 1/T1T and 1/T2 are different from the typical slowingdownphenomena of the EFG fluctuations due to the classical motional narrowing. The lowering ofthe local symmetry at the La site is ascribed to a freezing of the rattling motion.
