Malignant aortic body tumor in a Korean Jindo dog

A 7-year-old, intact female Korean Jindo dog was referred due to ataxia and pain on palpation of the thorax. Radiograph, echocardiography and computed tomogram revealed a mass on the heart base region and osteolytic change of fifth thoracic (T5) vertebra. At necropsy, a firm, encapsulated and round mass was seen arising from the heart base region surrounding the ascending aorta and pulmonary artery. Histopathologically, nests of cuboidal and polyhedral cells having abundantly granular and eosinophilic cytoplasm with round to oval nucleus were separated by fibrous septa. Immunohistochemistry using chromogranin A revealed that tumor cells were originated from neuroendocrine organ and metastasized into some organs including lung, spleen, liver, kidney and T5 vertebra. By electron microscopy, we found the electron-dense and membrane-bound granules in cytoplasm of the tumor cells. This study provides the uncommon evidence that aortic body tumor metastasized to both multiple organs and bone.
A study on skin and ocular irritation tests of growth factor and cytokine mixtures

Growth factors and cytokines play an important role in delaying skin aging. However, there has been no animal stability test reported for them yet. In the present study, we examined the plausibility of Growth factor and Cytokine Mixtures (GCM) as a cosmetic ingredient by assessing skin irritation and ocular irritation for hypersensitivity using New Zealand white rabbits. Skin safety study was performed to evaluate the potential toxicity of GCM based on the irritation test. For the irritation test, GCM was applied to the rabbit skin, and no adverse reaction, such as erythema and edema, had been observed from the exposed skin sites. In the ocular irritation test, the treatment of GCM did not cause any adverse reaction on rabbit eyes, including cornea, iris, and conjunctiva tissues. From the results, both tests proved that GCM makes no irritable reaction on skin and eye mucous membrane of rabbit. Hence, it may be suggested that GCM can be safely applied as a cosmeceutical ingredient without causing any significant hypersensitivity reaction.

The synthesis of tetrahydroquinoline derivatives from dimethyl anilines and enamides has been developed by Fe(III)-phenanthroline complex under aerobic condition. The oxidation of tertiary anilines involving a single electron transfer of Fe(phen)3(PF6)3 afforded the iminium ion intermediate, which reacted with electron-rich alkenes to build a six-membered N-heterocycles containing quaternary carbon center via the oxidative Povarov reaction process.
동중국해 음향 산란층내의 euphauiid (Euphausia pacifica) 밀도 추정

N/A Hydroacoustic and open-closing zooplankton net survey were conducted to understand the characteristics of the sound scattering layer (SSL) and to estimate the density of an euphausiid (Euphausia pacifica) in the SSL, in the northwestern part of the East China Sea. The survey was carried out during July 6-9 2002 at 8 sampling stations for zooplankton. The virtual echogram technique was used to identify E, pacifica from all acoustic scatters. Mean volume backscattering strength difference (MVBS_(120kHz-38kHz)) and target strength equation for E. pacifica were derived from the Distorted-wave Born Approximation (DWBA) model. Although vertical migration of the SSL is similar to the general pattern, dispersion at qight shows some differences. Estimated mean 3density using acoustic data ranged from 20.4-22 1.4 mg/m over the whole depth, and 87.1-553.5 mg/m in the SSL. The density using the zooplankton net ranged from 0.2-362.4 mg/m3 and was not related to net deploying method. The results from the acoustic and net survey suggest that E. pacifica might be an important zooplankton community in the northwestern part of the East China Sea.

본 연구의 목적은 일선 고등학교의 교육상황을 탐색하여 학교 교육기획력과 교사 교육기획력의 실재성(유무와 작동방식)을 분석하고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 문헌 연구․면담조사․설문조사를 실시하였으며, 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학교교육목표는 기능하지 않고 있었으며, 교육목표에 대한 교사들의 인지수준은 낮 았다. 둘째, 학교의 교육과정 편성은 획일화되어 있었으며, 교육목표와의 연관성이 낮았다. 셋째, 학교의 교육과정 운영은 교육과정 편성에 부합되어 운영되지 않는 경 향이 있었다, 넷째, 평가는 주관적인 형태로 정례적으로 실시하였고, 평가 결과는 학 교교육계획서상에 기술되는 정도에 불과했다. 학교 교육목표 달성을 위한 교사들의 노력은 교과외의 영역에서만 나타났다. 다섯째, 교사의 교육기획력은 규정과 지침에 의해 발현되지 않았다. 이와 같은 문제는 ① 학교 교육목표의 불능, ② 교육기획력 의 각 단계들 사이의 연관성 부족, ③ 학교와 교사의 교육과정편성 자율권의 제한이 그 원인으로 작동했다. 학교의 교육력을 회복하기 위해서는 학교교육목표가 기능하 고 교육기획력의 하위 요소들이 연관성을 가지고 편성될 수 있도록 학교와 교사에 게 교육과정 편성의 자율권을 허용할 필요성이 있다. This study aims to investigate school’s and teacher’s enterprise by analyzing the reality of educational situation in high schools. This study is conducted literature research, interview, and questionnaire survey. The findings are as follows: First, school educational objectives cannot function and the teacher’s perception level of it is low. Second, curriculum of a school is uniformly designed and the correlation of school educational objectives and the curriculum is also low. Third, management of curriculum does not accurately correspond with the designed curriculum and it is proper to education for preparing entrance examination. Forth, an assessment of school is subjectively and routinely implemented and the result of the assessment is only written on the ‘guidelines for school education. Moreover, teacher’s effort to achieve school objectives focus on extra-curricular. Fifth, a teacher’s enterprising is restricted by the regulations and guidelines made by superiors and the department of education. Here are some reasons that cause these problems: ① non-functioning school educational objectives ② relevant lack among each steps of educational enterprising ③ restriction of autonomy right for schools and teachers to organize of curriculum. So as to restore, schools and teachers need to have autonomy right to organization of curriculum.
다중 주파수의 체적산란강도 차이를 이용한 에코그램 내에서의 종 분리와 잡음 제거

N/A Species identification in hydroacoustic survey is one of the key requirements to estimate biomass of organism and to understand the structure of zooplankton community. Feasibility of species identification using two frequencies (38 and 120 kHz) was investigated on the basis of mean volume backscattering strength difference (MVBS). Virtual echogram technique was applied to two frequencies data sets that obtained from surveys in the Antarctic Ocean and Yellow Sea. Virtual echogram method using MVBS revealed the possibility of species identification, which species identification relying on visual scrutiny of single frequency acoustic data resulted in significant errors in biomass estimation. Through noise cancellation using MVBS, much of the acoustic noise caused by acoustic instruments could be removed in new virtual echogram, and the biomass estimation and data quality was improved.
