협골체 골절시 접근방법은 안와하연에 대해 섬모하절개, 하안검절개, 안와하연절개 및 결막절개등이 사용되고 안와측벽, frontozygomatic suture에 대해서는 lateral brow incision, 상안검절개등이 사용되며 관상절개술은 frontozygomatic suture와 협고궁에 접근할 수 있다. 관상절개술을 제외한 접근방법은 한가지 절개술로 단지 한부위의 정복과 고정술이 가능하므로 결국 협골체 골절시 2점이상 고정을 할 경우 2가지 이상의 절개가 필요하게 된다. 이에 저자들은 관상절개술의 적응증이 아닌 협골체 골절에 lateral-canthotomy -conjunctival incision을 사용하여 안와하연 및 측벽의 골절부에 대한 정복술과 고정술을 시행하여 양호한 결과를 관찰하여 이에 보고하는 바이다. Various extraoral and intraoral approaches to reduction and fixation of zygomatic complex fractures were used. The method for exposure of inferior orbital area include the subciliary, inferior eyelid, infraorbital rim and conjunctions incisions. For exposure of frontozygomatic suture, lateral brow, coronal and b¹ephaloplasty incisions were used. It is necessary that the usual approaches to the inferior and lateral orbit have two incisions. However, lateral canthotomy-conjunctival approach presented on this paper provide optimal exposure to lateral and inferior orbit.

A noncoherent, broadband, intense pulsed light source has been used for the symptoms of photoaging skin as a nonablative method. The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy and tolerability of intense pulsed light in solar lentigines and ephelides on the face. An open study was performed in patients with solar lentigines and ephelides who received three to five treatments of intense pulsed light. Forty-eight percent of patients had more than 50% improvement and 20% had more than 75% improvement. In the group of solar lentigines, 40% of patients showed more than 50% improvement and 16% did more than 75% improvement. Patients with solar 1entigines+ephelides and ephelides responded remarkably with 75% and 71 % of patients having more than 50% improvement, respectively. Intense pulsed light was well tolerated and may be a new modality for the therapy of solar lentigines and ephelides.

Purpose: Small bowel obstruction (SBO) remains a common complication after pelvic or abdominal surgery. However, the risk factors for SBO in ulcerative colitis (UC) surgery are not well known. The aim of the present study was to clarify the risk factors associated with SBO after ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) with a loop ileostomy for patients with UC. Methods: The medical records of 96 patients who underwent IPAA for UC between 1999 and 2011 were reviewed. SBO was confirmed based on the presence of clinical symptoms and radiographic findings. The patients were divided into 2 groups: the SBO group and the non-SBO group. We also analyzed the relationship between SBO and computed tomography (CT) scan image parameters. Results: The study included 49 male and 47 female patients. The median age was 35.5 years (range, 14–72 years). We performed a 2- or 3-stage procedure as a total proctocolectomy and IPAA for patients with UC. SBO in the pretakedown of the loop ileostomy after IPAA occurred in 22 patients (22.9%). Moreover, surgical intervention for SBO was required for 11 patients. In brief, closure of the loop ileostomy was performed earlier than expected. A multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the 2-stage procedure (odds ratio, 2.850; 95% confidence interval, 1.009–8.044; P = 0.048) was a significant independent risk factor associated with SBO. CT scan image parameters were not significant risk factors of SBO. Conclusion: The present study suggests that a 2-stage procedure is a significant risk factor associated with SBO after IPAA in patients with UC.

To measure the contiguity relationship of land use by the vector data, it is necessary to consider the following two points; (1)range of contiguity, (2)route between concerned cells. The purpose of this study is to propose contiguity indices considering the relationship by the vector data and investigate their characters. The indices based on the conditions of above (1) and (2) are proposed and applied to interpret the results of land use simulation by three dimensional vector data. In the process the characteristics of the indices grasped.
