Corynebacterium acetoacidophilum RYU3161 was cultivated in a L-histidine-limited fed-batch culture. To investigate the effect of cell growth on the L-proline production, 5 L fed-batch culture was performed using an exponential feeding rate to obtain the specific growth rates $(\mu)$ of 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, and 0.1 $h_1$. The results show that the highest production of L-proline was obtained at $\mu$ = 0.04 $h_1$. The specific L-proline production rate $(Q_p)$ increased pro-portionally as a function of the specific growth rate, but decreased after it revealed the maxi-mum value at $\mu$ = 0.08 $h_1$. Thus, the highest productivity of L-proline was 1.66 g $L^-^1 h^-^1$ at $\mu$ = 0.08 $h_1$. The results show that the production of L-proline in C. acetoacidophilum RYU3161 has mixed growth-associated characteristics.
1,3-Disubstituted Pyrido [2,3-d] Pyrimidinedione

1,3-Disubstituted pyrido [2, 3-d] pyrimidine-2, 4-diones derivatives were synthesized by the following method A and B. Method A: 1-Substituted pyrido [2, 3,-d] pyrimidine-2, 4-diones were prepared by the reaction of 2-[N-substituted amino] nicotinic acid with urea at high temperature. On the other hand method B:1-Substituted pyrido [2, 3-d] pyrimidine-2 4-dione prepared by the reaction of 2-[N-substituted amino] nicotinamide with ethyl carbonate at low temperature. It was largely affected by catalyst and temperature that the synthesis of 2-[N-substituted amino] nicotinic acid as starting material, and amide of 2-[N-substituted amino] nicotinic and derivative was synthesized by the typical nucleophilic substitution of acyl halide. Considering the reaction time and temperature, however, it is clear that the method B is more efficient than the method A. The former requires only 2-3 hours of reaction time at 20-40℃, while the latter requires 7 hours at 180-200℃. Yields for two methods obtained were 60% all. Yields of 1, 3-disubstituted pyrido [2, 3-d] pyrimidine-2, 4-dione as object was obtained about 60% by the reaction of intermediate material with alkylated in the DMF solvent. It has been affirmed that the mechanism of reactions involved in synthesis was of nucleophilic substitution. The molecular structure, and molecular weight of 1, 3-disubstituted pyrido [2, 3-d] pyrimidine-2, 4-diones were confirmed by the analysis of physicochemical instrumentation such as IR, NMR, and Ms spectra, and the physical properties were examined.
2,3-Disubstituted-4-Oxo-1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroquinazoline 유도체의 합성

2, 3-Disubstituted-4-oxo-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroquinazolines were synthesized by using the isatoic anhydrides and N-substituted-2-aminobenzamides as starting materials. Intermediates were formed by the reaction of isatoic anhydride with primary amines at various conditions. Final products, 2, 3-Disubstituted-4-oxo-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroquinazolines were synthesized by the fusion of pyridine-3-aldehyde with intermediates for 5hrs at various conditions. By using IR, NMR, MS and elementary analysis, each product was identified and yield of 2, 2-disubstituted-4-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinazolines was nearly 80-90%.
정적 연소기의 단면형상 변화에 따른 플라즈마 제트 점화의 연소특성

In this paper, combustion characteristics ignited by single-hole and multi-hole plasma jet igniter and conventional spark plug have been studied by means of schlieren photography and pressure measuring in the Wedge type, Pent-roof type and Toroidal bowl type constant volume vessel which is typical 4-valve SI engine combustion chamber. It is represented that combustion characteristics ignited by conventional spark plug ignition are hardly influenced by configurations of combustion chamber. I contrast in case of plasma jet ignition combustion duration and combustion enhancement rates are effected than spark plug ignition. Consequently, it is important to avoid plasma jet impingement against combustion chamber wall , and to let flame front move toward wide place in the combustion chamber at early stage of combustion.

<P>The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of radioactive iodine therapy (RIT) on vocal function during the early follow-up period after total thyroidectomy (TT) using perceptive and objective measurements, questionnaires regarding subjective symptoms, and data on vocal function in a prospectively enrolled and serially followed thyroid cancer cohort. <B>Methods:</B> Of 212 patients who underwent TT and were screened between January and December 2010 at our hospital, 160 were included in the final analysis. Patients with the following histories were excluded: lateral neck dissection, organic vocal fold disease, external radiotherapy, and voice evaluation during thyroxine withdrawal. Patients were stratified into 3 groups: TT, TT with low-dose RIT (1.1–2.2 GBq), and TT with high-dose RIT (≥3.7 GBq). Voice evaluations were performed before surgery and at 1, 6, and 12 mo after TT. <B>Results:</B> Vocal characteristics were altered after TT, including changes on the grade, roughness, and strain scale; increased amplitude perturbation; decreased fundamental frequency; narrowed pitch range; and global disturbances in subjective functional parameters on the voice handicap index. However, the degree of vocal changes among the 3 groups did not significantly differ within the 1-y postoperative follow-up period. According to the results of subgroup analyses of patients who demonstrated good voice outcomes after TT, there were no significant functional differences among the 3 groups. <B>Conclusion:</B> RIT at any dose does not affect vocal function within 1 y of TT.</P>
Identification and Characterization of Human Genes Targeted by Natural Selection

The human genome has evolved as a consequence of evolutionary forces, such as natural selection. In this study, we investigated natural selection on the human genes by comparing the numbers of nonsynonymous (NS) and synonymous (S) mutations in individual genes. We initially collected all coding SNP data of all human genes from the public dbSNP. Among the human genes, we selected 3 different selection groups of genes: positively selected genes (NS/S${\geq}$3), negatively selected genes (NS/S${\leq}$1/3) and neutral selection genes (0.9<NS/S<1.1). We characterized human genes targeted by natural selection. Negatively selected human genes were markedly associated with disease occurrence, but not positively selected genes. Interestingly, positively selected genes displayed an increase in potentially deleterious nonsynonymous SNPs with an increased frequency of tryptophan and tyrosine residues, suggesting a correlation with protective effects against human disease. Furthermore, our nonsynonymous/synonymous ratio data imply that specific human genes, such as ALMS1 and SPTBN5 genes, are differentially selected among distinct populations. We confirmed that inferences of natural selection using the NS/S ratio can be used extensively to identify functional genes selected during the evolutionary adaptation process.

알긴과 키토산은 생분해성 천연고분자로 알려져 있다. PVA는 수용성 패킹, 종이, 섬유산업에서 사용한다. PVA/algin, PVA/chitosan필름을 생분해성 필름으로 사용하기 위하여 알긴, 키토의 무게혼합비율에 따라 용액블랜딩법에 의하여 제조하였다. 제조한 블랜드필름의 열적, 기계적 성질을 DSC, 인장강도, 신장강도와 SEM에 의한 형태 변화로 확인하였다. 결과적으로 10wt% PVA/chitosan일 때가 순수 PYA와 유사한 열적, 기계적성질을 가졌으며, PVA/algin은 알긴의 혼합비율이 25wt%를 넘으면 상분리현상을 나타내었다. PVA/Algin은 혼합비율이 10wt% 이내일 때 부분적인 상용성을 나타냄을 DSC, 기계적 성질과 SEM으로 확인하였다. TOC법에 의한 분해실험에서 블랜드필름은 pH 7.0, 10.0 완충용액에서보다 pH 4.0 완충용액에서 빠르게 분해가 일어났으며 pH 완충용액에서보다 효소용액에서는 더욱 빠른 분해를 나타내었다. Algin and chitosan are known as biodegradable natural polymers. PVA is useful for the production of water-soluble packaging, paper, textile sizes. PVA/Algin and PVA/chitosan films were prepared by solution blends method in the weight ratio of chitosan, algin for the purpose of useful biodegradable films. Thermal and mechanical properties of blend films such as DSC, impact strength, tensile strength and morphology by SEM were determined. As a result, The ratio of 10.0wt% PVA/chitosan films were similar to PVA at thermal and mechanical properties. PVA/Algin films were found that phase separation was occured as more than 25wt% increasing the blend ratio of algin. PVA/Algin films were observed to be less partially compatibility than 10wt% increasing the blend ratio of algin by DSC, mechanical properties and SEM. Blend films were completely degraded pH 4.0 better than 7.0, 10.0 in the buffer solution. Also, they were rapidly degraded in the enzyme(β-glucosidase) solution better than pH solution by enzymolysis.

Most upper gastrointestinal lipomas occur in the duodenal second portion, and gastric lipomas are rare. Most lipomas are usually asymptomatic, but symptoms such as abdominal pain, intussusception, ulceration, and intestinal obstruction may occur depending on the size and location and, rarely, can cause bleeding. Endoscopic polypectomy, endoscopic mucosal resection, and surgical resection are the treatments of choice for lipomas with intestinal obstruction or bleeding. Upper gastrointestinal bleeding from lipoma is mostly of duodenal origin and very rarely from the stomach. Here, we report a case of successful treatment of gastric lipoma with massive bleeding by endoscopic resection. (Korean J Med 2020;95:398-403)
