Objectives: The purpose of this study is to provide basic data that helps prepare and decide on their career and increase physical therapy student`s major satisfaction to examine student`s vocational personality types that evaluated by Holland and according to this types find out the difference of major satisfaction and accomplishment. Methods: The researcher surveyed a total of 384 students majoring physical therapy in 189 students who were third and fourth grade from 2 four-year universities and 195 students who were second and third grade from 2 three-year colleges located in Pusan with using a structured questionnaire. Results: First, Major accomplishments of all students belonging to Enterprise type were investigated by the highest. second, Major accomplishments of men belonging to Investigative type and women belonging to Enterprise type were investigated by the highest each other. third, After examining correlations among the aptitude, interests and characteristics factors to determine the vocational personality types, the correlations was shown to insignificant among the aptitude, interests, characteristics factors and major satisfaction for men but only in characteristics factors negative correlation appears significantly with major accomplishment. And for women, the correlations was shown to insignificant among the aptitude, interests, characteristics factors and major satisfaction but only in characteristics factors positive correlation appears significantly with major accomplishment. Conclusion: It is necessary to consider students factor of choosing major affected the present employment and to increase competitive power of universities related with employment and to develop a education reflected interest and aptitude of students.

The fracture behavior of plain woven glass/epoxy composite plates with a crack is investigated under static tensile loading. It is shown in this paper that the characteristic length associated with the point stress criterion depends on the crack length. To predict the notched tensile strength, the point stress criterion proposed by Whitney and Nuismer are modified. An excellent agreement is found between the experimental results and the analytical prediction of the modified point stress criterion.
The condition of unstable crack growth in the presence of a pre-existing flaw(machined notch) is examined by means of the maximum stress intensity factor Kmax using maximum load Pmax. The values of Kmax evaluated from energy release rate Gmax(the compliance method) and the standard expression normally used for isotropic materials(the isotropic method) indicate a wide difference. Therefore in regard to anisotropy and heterogeneity of the composite materials studied, the modified shape correction factor f*(a/W) is obtained. Kmax evaluated by the compliance method a little or insignificantly depends on the initial crack length a, the specimen thickness B, the crack angle θ and the specimen geometry.

The fatigue crack growth behavior of the cold-rolled STS 304 steel developed for membrane material of LNG storage tank was examined experimentally at 293K, 153K and 111K. The fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) tends to increase as the stress ratio(R) increases over the testing temperature, when compared at the same stress intensity factor range(ΔK). The effect of R on da/dN is more explicit at low temperatures than at room temperature. The resistance of fatigue crack growth at low temperatures is higher compared with that at room temperature, which is attributed to the extent of strain-induced martensitic transformation at the crack lip. The temperature dependence of fatigue crack growth resistance is gradually vanished with an increase in ΔK, which correlates with a decreasing fracture toughness with decreasing temperature. Fractographic examinations reveal that the differences of the fatigue crack growth characteristics between room and low temperatures are mainly explained by the crack closure and the strengthening due to the martensitic transformation.

The aim of this study was that effect of exercise-induced muscle damage(EIMD) on resting metabolic rate and blood catecholamines concentration. Eight subjects(age 24.4±2.l0 years, Height 176.4±5.80 ㎝, Weight 73.6±8.80 ㎏, % body fat 23.5±3.55 %, VO₂max 5O.9±4.00 ml/㎏/min) were completed three resting metabolic rate(RMR) measurements, one maximal exercise work load test, and one eccentric exercise(downhill running for 30min at -12% grade of treadmill). The blood was collected for assay the creatine kinase(CK) and catecholamines (epinephrine and norepinephrine).
There were significant differences in RMR which were calculated by day, body weight, fat free mass following the EIMD(p<.05). Also there were significant differences in resting oxygen consumption, RER, muscle soreness scale, and blood creatine kinase activity following the EIMD(p<.05). However, there were no significant differences in blood catecholamines(epinephrine and norepinephrine) concentration following the EIMD(p>.05). In conclusion, this study showed that in the presence of exercise-induced muscle damage energy expenditure, expecially resting metabolic rate(RMR) is increased before having muscle damage. The index of muscle damage(creatine kinase) also have related to the RMR after exercise-induced muscle damage. It was suggested that EIMD may be either metabolic or mechanical, or combination of both, depending upon exercise type, intensity and duration and training status. Also we need to study about the mechanism for the oxygen consumption following EDMI with the resonable research tools, such as, hormonal changes and energy substrate utilization.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of oral nitrate supplementation on resting metabolic rate (RMR) and excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). METHODS: Ten university male subjects participated in this study. Resting metabolic RMR and submaximal exercise test (70 %V·O2max) on a cycle ergometer were performed for 30 minutes before and after oral nitrate supplementation. Also, EPOC was measured following submaximal exercise test (70 %V·O2max) before and after oral nitrate supplementation. RESULTS: There was a little decreased in oxygen consumption during submaximal exercise after oral nitrate supplementation, but there was no significant different between before and after experimental conditions. Interestingly, RMR became lower after oral nitrate supplementation compared with before nitrate supplementation. On the other hand EPOC was found to be higher following the submaximal exercise after oral nitrate supplementation, but there was no significant difference. CONCLUSIONS: This study found that oral nitrate supplementation decreased RMR By better understanding metabolic and energy expenditure effects of oral nitrate supplementation, various interventions, such as, exercise intensity, mode, diet, should be considered.
