        Association between sleep disturbance and occupational injury among Korean employees

        Background: Occupational injury has been a serious social problem steadily. Sleep disturbance is a risk factor for occupational injury. However, there were few researches studied on the linking between sleep disturbance and occupational injury in general working population of Korea. Therefore, we explored the association between sleep disturbance and occupational injury among Korean workers. Methods: This study used data from the 5th Korean Working Conditions Survey. Occupational injury was assessed by asking work related injury for 12 months prior to the point of the survey. Sleep disturbance was assessed using the Minimal Insomnia Symptoms Scale (MISS). To analyze the association between sleep disturbance and occupational injury, multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted. Results: The odds ratio (OR) of sleep disturbance group for occupational injury was 2.57 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.68–3.93) in the fully adjusted model. For the association between MISS score and occupational injury, it showed increasing trend that ORs increase from the 1st to the 4th quartiles. The OR of 2nd quartile was 1.10 (95% CI: 0.60–2.01), the OR of 3rd quartile was 2.27 (95% CI: 1.53–3.38) and the OR of 4th quartile was 2.80 (95% CI: 1.84–4.26). Conclusions: Sleep disturbance was associated with occupational injury. In addition, increasing trend was observed between MISS score and occupational injury. These findings imply that developing of intervention programs to manage sleep disturbance and fatigue may be necessary to prevent occupational injury.

      • FREQUENCY-DOMAIN APPROACH TO PARABOLIC DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS WITH MIXED BOUNDARY CONDITION

        We consider a numerical method to approximate solutions for parabolic problems with mixed boundary condition. We solve an indefinite complex elliptic problem for each frequency instead of an elliptic problem for each time, by taking the Fourier transformation of given equations in the space-time domain into the space-frequency domain. Fourier inversion will then recover the solution of the original problem in the space-time domain. This method turns out to be naturally parallelizable. Existence and uniqueness of the solution for the transformed problem corresponding to each frequency are established. Fourier invertibility of the solution in the frequency-domain is also examined. Error estimates for a finite element approximation to the solution of each transformed problem corresponding to each frequency and full error estimates for solving the given problem using a discrete Fourier inverse transform are presented.

      • Free Surface Flows Past a Two Dimensional Semi-Infinite Body

        We study numerically solutions of nonlinear stern flows past a semi-infinite two dimensional body. Boundary integral technique is used for numerical computations. It is shown that there are supercritical two parameter family of solutions separating smoothly from the upslope of the planar termination of the body between the angle 0≤α〈π/2, where α is the angle of the plane with respect to the horizontal and that there is always a train of waves for each solution. A transition between the stagnant separation and the smooth separation at the corner from the smooth separation at the upslope is explained. Some numerical results are presented.

      • EPE: An Embedded Personalization Engine for Mobile Users

        <P>The proposed embedded personalization engine (EPE) utilizes valuable in-device usage data for inferring mobile user interests in a privacy-preserving manner. To provide users with personalized services, the proposed approach analyzes both the usage data inside a mobile device and service items--such as news articles and mobile apps--using the Open Directory Project (ODP) as a knowledge base. Embedded classification and ranking methodologies effectively match such service items with inferred user interests. The scenario-based evaluation clearly shows that the proposed EPE gives users highly personalized services with both reasonable perceived latency and little energy consumption.</P>

      • Preparation of Betaine-based Deep Eutectic Solvents and Effective Extraction Application of Luteolin in Cyperus flavidus

        Recently, organic solvents are used for most liquid extraction, which has the advantage of being reasonable and highly extractive, while disadvantage of being toxic and low stability. To solve this, a new concept of eco-friendly solvents, called deep eutectic solvent (DES), was introduced as interest in the use of eco-friendly solvents increased rapidly. In this study, the eutectic temperature and ratio of betaine based DES were determined and prepared. In addition, luteolin of Cyperus flavidus was identified through HPLC and HPLC-MS/MS analysis. Through the extraction of luteolin in Cyperus flavidus to which DES was applied, DES, which showed higher extraction efficiency than the conventional organic solvents, was selected and the possibility of an alternative solvent was evaluated.         A FREQUENCY-DOMAIN METE10D FOR FINITE ELEMENT SOLUTIONS OF PARABOLIC PROBLEMS

        We introduce and analyze a frequency-domain method for parabolic partial differential equations. The method is naturally parallelizable. After taking the Fourier transformation of given equations in the space-time domain into the space-frequency domain, we propose to solve an indefinite, complex elliptic problem for each frequency. Fourier inversion will then recover the solution in the space-time domain. Existence and uniqueness as well as error estimates are given. Fourier invertibility is also examined. Numerical experiments are presented.

      • Negative Regulation of the Novel <i>norpA<sup>P24</sup></i> Suppressor, <i>diehard4</i> , in the Endo-lysosomal Trafficking Underlies Photoreceptor Cell Degeneration

        <▼1><P>Rhodopsin has been used as a prototype system to investigate G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) internalization and endocytic sorting mechanisms. Failure of rhodopsin recycling upon light activation results in various degenerative retinal diseases. Accumulation of internalized rhodopsin in late endosomes and the impairment of its lysosomal degradation are associated with unregulated cell death that occurs in dystrophies. However, the molecular basis of rhodopsin accumulation remains elusive. We found that the novel <I>norpA<SUP>P24</SUP></I> suppressor, <I>diehard4</I>, is responsible for the inability of endo-lysosomal rhodopsin trafficking and retinal degeneration in <I>Drosophila</I> models of retinal dystrophies. We found that <I>diehard4</I> encodes <I>Osiris 21</I>. Loss of its function suppresses retinal degeneration in <I>norpA<SUP>P24</SUP></I>, <I>rdgC<SUP>306</SUP></I>, and <I>trp<SUP>1</SUP></I>, but not in <I>rdgB<SUP>2</SUP></I>, suggesting a common cause of photoreceptor death. In addition, the loss of <I>Osiris 21</I> function shifts the membrane balance between late endosomes and lysosomes as evidenced by smaller late endosomes and the proliferation of lysosomal compartments, thus facilitating the degradation of endocytosed rhodopsin. Our results demonstrate the existence of negative regulation in vesicular traffic between endosomes and lysosomes. We anticipate that the identification of additional components and an in-depth description of this specific molecular machinery will aid in therapeutic interventions of various retinal dystrophies and GPCR-related human diseases.</P></▼1><▼2><P><B>Author Summary</B></P><P>Malfunctioning of phototransduction is the major cause of human blindness. Without functional phototransduction, rhodopsin-1, the major visual pigment, is rapidly endocytosed and accumulated in late endosomes. Impaired lysosomal delivery of endocytosed rhodopsin and its degradation has been reported to trigger progressive and light-dependent retinal degeneration in <I>Drosophila</I> models. It is intriguing why endocytosed rhodopsin accumulates in late endosomes instead of being delivered to lysosomes for degradation. Is this attributable to a saturation of rhodopsin endocytosis, which impedes the delivery capacity of the cell? To investigate the underlying mechanisms of rhodopsin accumulation in late endosomes, we used a suppressor of phototransduction mutants, which was identified previously from our unbiased genetic screen. This suppressor, called <I>diehard4</I>, shifts the membrane balance between late endosomes and lysosomes, resulting in the facilitated degradation of endocytosed rhodopsin. Our results clearly demonstrate that a previously unknown mechanism of negative regulation is actively engaged in vesicular traffic between endosomes and lysosomes in fly photoreceptors. We showed that eliminating such blockage alone was enough to rescue retinal degeneration in phototransduction mutants. From these results, we anticipate that the identification of additional components and an in-depth description of this molecular machinery will aid in therapeutic interventions of various retinal dystrophies and neurodegenerative disorders.</P></▼2>

        문맥 광고에서 계층적인 분류 트리를 활용하여 의미적으로 연관된 광고를 매칭하는 기법이 소개되었다. 하지만 기존 기법은 계층 구조의 특성에 기인하여 임의의 광고의 연관성을 측정할 때에는 적합하지 않다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 분류 트리를 유사도 그래프로 변환한 후 개인화된 페이지 랭크를 응용한 링크 분석 기법을 적용하여 광고의 의미적 연관성을 측정하는 기법을 제안한다. 실험을 통하여 제안 기법이 문맥 광고에서 광고 매칭의 정확도 성능을 향상시킴을 확인하였다.
