김종원 ( Kim¸ Jongwon ),최형준 ( Choi¸ Hyongjun ) 한국체육학회 2021 한국체육학회지 Vol.60 No.1

The aim of this study was to identify the effect of situational variables e.g. match venue, opposition quality, current form, current opposition’s form on key attacking performance indicators from 2020 Korea Football League. All match(n=132) excepted for split matches were used for analysis and the data were provided by Korea Professional Football League(data.kleague.com). Microsoft Office Excel 2007 was used to collect data and the data were analysed in IBM SPSS 25.0 to determine differences between independent variables. Normality tests were firstly conducted and Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis H test was conducted as a non-parametric statistics method. The results showed that ball possessions were significantly different between home and away teams whilst all key attacking performance indicators were significantly different according to different quality of team. Also, there were significant differences in passes, forward passes and ball possessions among current team forms and opposition team forms.

      • A lifetime enhancing and QoS provisioning routing protocol for wireless sensor networks

        Jongwon Choi,Sehun Kim 대한산업공학회 2008 대한산업공학회 춘계학술대회논문집 Vol.2008 No.5

A wireless sensor network typically consists of a very large number of small, inexpensive, disposable, robust, and low-power sensor nodes working cooperatively. In this paper, we propose a routing protocol for wireless sensor networks, which focuses on satisfying QoS constraints while maximizing the lifetime of the networks. Our proposed protocol enhances the network lifetime by distributing the traffic flow over multiple paths, while satisfying the different QoS requirements in a dynamic and decentralized manner. Simulation shows that the network lifetime increases without compromising QoS requirements and throughput.

Double-layered buffer to enhance the thermal performance in a high-level radioactive waste disposal system

Choi, Heui-Joo,Choi, Jongwon Elsevier 2008 Nuclear engineering and design Vol.238 No.10

Abstract

A thermal performance is one of the most important factors in the design of a geological disposal system for high-level radioactive wastes. According to the conceptual design of the Korean Reference disposal System, the maximum temperature of its buffer with a domestic Ca-bentonite is close to the thermal criterion, 100°C. In order to improve the thermal conductivity of its buffer, several kinds of additives are compared. Among the additives, graphite shows the best result in that the thermal conductivity of the bentonite block is more than 2.0W/m°C. We introduced the concept of a double-layered buffer instead of a traditional bentonite block in order to use the applied additive more effectively. The thermal analysis, based upon the three-dimensional finite element method, shows that a double-layered buffer could reduce the maximum temperature on a canister's surface by 7°C under identical conditions when compared with a single-layered buffer. An analytical solution was derived to efficiently analyze the effects of a double-layered buffer. The illustrative cases show that the temperature differences due to a double-layered buffer depend on the thickness of the buffer.

Inhibitory Effects of the Korean Red Ginseng Extract onthe Content of Neurotransmitter-Related Componentsof the Mouse Brain in Convulsion-induced Model

        Jongwon Choi,Yeong-Min Yoo,박희준 한국생약학회 2007 Natural Product Sciences Vol.13 No.4

of mice with Korean Red Ginseng (KRG) changed glutamic acid and GABA content in themouse brain tissue with pentylenetetrazole (PTZ)-induced convulsion. KRG were orally administered at a dose of50, 100 mg/kg for two weeks. The electroconvulsions (MES) and PTZ-induced convulsion were reduced butthose induced by strychnine, bicuculine and picrotoxin were not. PTZ-induced convulsion decreased the -treated group compared to PTZ group. In the PTZ-treated group, the GABA-transaminase (GABA-T) activity wasincreased by 59.6%, while no effect was observed on glutamate decarboxylase (GAD) activity. These resultssupport that the KRG decreased the GABA contents and modulated the glutamic acid contents in the brain.KeywordsKorean Red Ginseng (KRG), pentylenetetrazone (PTZ), GABA, GAD, GABA-T, glutamic acid

Current Status of the Heavy-Ion Accelerator Facility RAON

        Jongwon Kim,Wookang Kim,Hyun-man JANG,Young Kwon Kim,Ilkyoung SHIN,Bun-sik PARK,Ji-Ho Jang,Jaehong KIM,Sang-il LEE,Suk-jin CHOI,Chul-jin CHOI 한국물리학회 2016 새물리 Vol.66 No.12

The baseline design of the heavy-ion accelerator facility called RAON was completed in 2012, and its construction is scheduled to be completed in 2021. The rare isotope science project (RISP) was organized to establish the facility under the auspices of Institute for Basic Science (IBS). A complex of superconducting (SC) linacs will be used for the accelerations of high-power heavy-ion beams to utilize the technique of in-flight fragmentation for isotope beam production and for the post acceleration of the rare isotope beams produced by using the isotope separation on line (ISOL) method. The ISOL system will be driven by a 70 MeV H$^-$ cyclotron. Many efforts have been directed to developing prototypes of the SC cavities and related components, which are the core parts of the SC linac. Mass production of all the components with proper quality control is a major concern of the project. Recently, a test facility equipped with a 330 W LHe cryoplant was completed, and it has been used to test prototypes of and actual SC-linac components. Progress on RAON construction is described.

DEVELOPMENT OF GEOLOGICAL DISPOSAL SYSTEMS FOR SPENT FUELS AND HIGH-LEVEL RADIOACTIVE WASTES IN KOREA

Choi, Heui-Joo,Lee, Jong Youl,Choi, Jongwon Korean Nuclear Society 2013 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.45 No.1

Two different kinds of nuclear power plants produce a substantial amount of spent fuel annually in Korea. According to the current projection, it is expected that around 60,000 MtU of spent fuel will be produced from 36 PWR and APR reactors and 4 CANDU reactors by the end of 2089. In 2006, KAERI proposed a conceptual design of a geological disposal system (called KRS, Korean Reference disposal System for spent fuel) for PWR and CANDU spent fuel, as a product of a 4-year research project from 2003 to 2006. The major result of the research was that it was feasible to construct a direct disposal system for 20,000 MtU of PWR spent fuels and 16,000 MtU of CANDU spent fuel in the Korean peninsula. Recently, KAERI and MEST launched a project to develop an advanced fuel cycle based on the pyroprocessing of PWR spent fuel to reduce the amount of HLW and reuse the valuable fissile material in PWR spent fuel. Thus, KAERI has developed a geological disposal system for high-level waste from the pyroprocessing of PWR spent fuel since 2007. However, since no decision was made for the CANDU spent fuel, KAERI improved the disposal density of KRS by introducing several improved concepts for the disposal canister. In this paper, the geological disposal systems developed so far are briefly outlined. The amount and characteristics of spent fuel and HLW, 4 kinds of disposal canisters, the characteristics of a buffer with domestic Ca-bentonite, and the results of a thermal design of deposition holes and disposal tunnels are described. The different disposal systems are compared in terms of their disposal density.

Anti - rheumatoidal Effect of Sulfuretin Isolated from the Heartwood of Rhus veniciflua in Rats and Mice

        Jongwon Choi,Byung-Jae Yoon,Keun Huh,Kun-Young Park,Kyung-Tae Lee,Hee-Juhn Park 한국식품영양과학회 2002 Preventive Nutrition and Food Science Vol.7 No.4

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the anti-rheumatoidal arthritis effect of the R. verniciflua heartwood extract, its EtOAc fraction, and its primary flavonoids, sulfuretin and fustin. All test samples showed variably significant inhibitory effects on hind paw edema and trypsin inhibitor activity induced by Freund's complete adjuvant reagent (FCA reagent), and on vascular permeability caused by acetic acid. Treatment with 10 mg/kg (i.p.) sulfuretin for seven days inhibited edema formation by 54.2±3.0%. Test samples, especially sulfuretin, shifted the values of biochemical parameters such as serum-cholesterol, serumtriglyceride and serum-total protein toward the normal and restored the numbers of leucocytes and platelets. These results suggest that the heartwood of R. verniciflua reduces immunological injuries caused by FCA reagent provides evidence that suluretin is an active anti-rheumatoid arthritis agent.

Vertical Split Ring Resonator Using Vias With Wide Bandwidth and Small Electrical Size

Choi, Jongwon,Oh, Sangyeol,Jo, Sangjin,Yoon, Won-Sang,Lee, Jaehoon THE INSTITUTE OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS 2017 IEEE MICROWAVE AND WIRELESS COMPONENTS LETTERS Vol.27 No.1

In this letter, we propose a vertically inserted split ring resonator (SRR) in microstrip lines. Since the top and bottom layers of the resonator are electrically connected by using via holes and it has a 3-D shape, it occupies a small electrical size. Through numerical simulations and measurement, it is shown that it can provide a wider range variation of bandwidth than conventional planar SRRs and the resonant frequency and the bandwidth can be adjusted by its length and width, respectively.
