Improving Hotel Performance Using Relationship Marketing
Han, Jinsoo,vKim. Woogon 한국호텔경영학회 ( 구 한국호텔외식경영학회 ) 1999 Korean Journal of Hotel Administration Vol.1 No.1
This study investigated the relation between relationship antecedents and relationship quality as well as the relation between relationship quality and relationship consequences. This study will help hotel managers to design a guideline to build efficient relationship marketing strategies in the Korean hotel industry. Effective usage of relationship marketing strategies will be able to increase repeat guest and more positive word-of-mouth. To analyze data collected from 27 luxury hotels in Seoul, LISREL(Linear Structural Relationship) model was utilized to construct the cause-effect model of relationship marketing between hotel and guest. The empirical results of this study are twofold: the higher the antecedents such as confidence and communication service, the higher relationship quality is; the higher relationship quality is, the higher guest commitment is and the higher repeat purchase and word-of-mouth.

<▼1>
A two step mechanism was identified that regulates receptor endocytosis during the development of long-term depression (LTD), a long-lasting decrease in synaptic transmission.
</▼1><▼2>
Long-term depression (LTD) is a long-lasting activity-dependent decrease in synaptic strength. NMDA receptor (NMDAR)–dependent LTD, an extensively studied form of LTD, involves the endocytosis of AMPA receptors (AMPARs) via protein dephosphorylation, but the underlying mechanism has remained unclear. We show here that a regulated interaction of the endocytic adaptor RalBP1 with two synaptic proteins, the small GTPase RalA and the postsynaptic scaffolding protein PSD-95, controls NMDAR-dependent AMPAR endocytosis during LTD. NMDAR activation stimulates RalA, which binds and translocates widespread RalBP1 to synapses. In addition, NMDAR activation dephosphorylates RalBP1, promoting the interaction of RalBP1 with PSD-95. These two regulated interactions are required for NMDAR-dependent AMPAR endocytosis and LTD and are sufficient to induce AMPAR endocytosis in the absence of NMDAR activation. RalA in the basal state, however, maintains surface AMPARs. We propose that NMDAR activation brings RalBP1 close to PSD-95 to promote the interaction of RalBP1-associated endocytic proteins with PSD-95-associated AMPARs. This suggests that scaffolding proteins at specialized cellular junctions can switch their function from maintenance to endocytosis of interacting membrane proteins in a regulated manner.
</▼2><▼3>
Author Summary

Neurons adapt over time in order to dampen their response to prolonged or particularly strong stimuli. This process, termed long-term depression (LTD), results in a long-lasting decrease in the efficiency of synaptic transmission. One extensively studied form of LTD requires the activation of a specific class of receptors known as NMDA glutamate receptors (NMDARs). A key molecular event initiated by NMDA receptor activation is the stimulation of protein phosphatases. Another key event is internalization via endocytosis of synaptic AMPA glutamate receptors (AMPARs). However, the mechanism by which protein dephosphorylation is coupled to AMPAR endocytosis has remained unclear. Here, we help to define this mechanism. We show that endocytic proteins, including RalBP1, are widely distributed in neurons under normal conditions. Upon NMDAR activation, the small GTPase RalA becomes activated and binds to RalBP1, resulting in the translocation of RalBP1 and RalBP1-associated endocytic proteins to synapses. At the same time, RalBP1 becomes dephosphorylated, which promotes its binding to the postsynaptic scaffold protein PSD-95, a protein that itself associates with AMPARs. This concerted recruitment of endocytic proteins to the vicinity of AMPARs results in AMPAR endocytosis. On the basis of our data, we propose a model in which dual binding of RalBP1 to both RalA and PSD-95 following RalBP1 dephosphorylation is essential for NMDAR-dependent AMPAR endocytosis during LTD.
</▼3>

This paper describes more efficient home energy management system to reduce power consumption in home area. We consider the room easily controllable with an IR remote control of a home device. The room has automatic standby power cut-off outlets, a light, and a ZigBee hub. The ZigBee hub has an IR code learning function and educates the IR remote control signal of a home device connected to the power outlet. Then the power outlets and the light in the room can be controlled with an IR remote control. A typical automatic standby power cut-off outlet has a waiting time before cutting off the electric power. It consumes standby power during that time. To eliminate the waiting time, we turn off the home device and the power outlet simultaneously with an IR remote control through the ZigBee hub. This method actively reduces the standby power. The proposed HEMS provides easy way to add, delete, and move home devices to other power outlets. When a home device is moved to the different outlet, the energy information of the home device is kept consistently and seamlessly regardless of location change. The proposed architecture gives more efficient energy-saving HEMS.

In these days, the STEAM-based education attracts attention of educational institutions worldwide, since it is related to the leaners` problem-solving ability. In modern society, a problem contains interdisciplinary elements. For example, an economic symptom has the subproblem of human psychology, mathematical analysis, public policy, science and technology and so on. Thus, the purpose of this study is to design of a STEAM-based class on computer devices for elementary school students. For this goal, we developed an appropriate STEAM-based teaching-learning course that can improve the students` learning motivation and achievement, and we applied our teaching-learning materials to the elementary school students. We hope that our elementary STEAM-based class on computer device is helpful for increasing students` comprehension on computer devices learning, and further it increases students` problem solving ability.

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of 2-cycled neoadjuvant sunitinib therapy (NST) in patients with inoperable metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC). Between 2009 and 2012, 14 patients with inoperable mRCC from 5 Korean academic centers were prospectively enrolled after collecting their clinicopathological data and completing health-related questionnaires. The best overall response (BOR), safety profile, and changes in quality of life during NST were assessed using the RECIST criteria (version 1.0), CTCAE criteria (version 4.0), and the Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (QLQ-C30). Among the 14 patients, 9 patients (64.3%) experienced partial response or stable disease state, and 5 patients (35.7%) did not complete treatment, with 1 case of disease progression (7.1%), 3 grade 3 adverse events (21.4%), and 1 voluntary withdrawal (7.1%). Four patients (28.6%) were successfully converted to an operable state and underwent surgery after NST. The BOR for the primary renal lesions was 22.2%, with a median 1.3-cm diameter reduction (range: 0–2.8 cm) from a baseline diameter of 10.3 cm (range: 6.6–15.8 cm). The other 18 measurable metastatic lesions exhibited a BOR of 55.6%. The QLQ-C30 questionnaire results revealed significant improvements in the quality of life domain, although we observed significant increases in the scores for fatigue, nausea and vomiting, and the financial effects of NST (P < 0.05). Two-cycle NST provided limited efficacy for resectability of inoperable mRCC, despite mild improvements in the BOR of the primary lesion and quality of life (Clinical Trial Registry 1041140-1).
