• Xinjiang s Experience of National Unity and Revitalize Border Areas and Enrich Residents Lives

Tu Huazhong,Zhao Xuechun,Yang Jinhui 아시아사회과학학회 2022 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.6 No.2

As an important supporting project for the development of western region, the action of prospering the border and enriching the people was officially launched in 1998. Up to now, it has gone through a history of 24 years. The action of prospering the border areas and enriching the people has made China s border areas get rid of poverty and backwardness gradually. Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, located in western China, has been a multi-ethnic region since ancient times. It is not only connected with China s inland provinces, but also an important land route connecting Central Asia, the Middle East and South Asia. The development of Xinjiang is not only related to the smooth development of China s western region, but also related to the continuous advancement of China s national unity, border prosperity and people s prosperity, and the smooth progress of China s Belt and Road Initiative. This paper analyzes the experience of ethnic unity since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, and on this basis, discusses how to promote ethnic unity in Xinjiang and further promote the smooth progress of the Belt and Road Initiative s construction by prospering the border areas and enriching the people.

Active Learning on Sparse Graph for Image Annotation

( Minxian Li ),( Jinhui Tang ),( Chunxia Zhao ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2012 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.6 No.10

Due to the semantic gap issue, the performance of automatic image annotation is still far from satisfactory. Active learning approaches provide a possible solution to cope with this problem by selecting most effective samples to ask users to label for training. One of the key research points in active learning is how to select the most effective samples. In this paper, we propose a novel active learning approach based on sparse graph. Comparing with the existing active learning approaches, the proposed method selects the samples based on two criteria: uncertainty and representativeness. The representativeness indicates the contribution of a sample`s label propagating to the other samples, while the existing approaches did not take the representativeness into consideration. Extensive experiments show that bringing the representativeness criterion into the sample selection process can significantly improve the active learning effectiveness.

Penta-1,2,3,4,6-O-galloyl-beta-D-glucose induces p53 and inhibits STAT3 in prostate cancer cells in vitro and suppresses prostate xenograft tumor growth in vivo.

        Hu, Hongbo,Lee, Hyo-Jeong,Jiang, Cheng,Zhang, Jinhui,Wang, Lei,Zhao, Yan,Xiang, Qiu,Lee, Eun-Ok,Kim, Sung-Hoon,,, Junxuan American Association for Cancer Research, Inc 2008 Molecular Cancer Therapeutics Vol.7 No.9

Penta-1,2,3,4,6-O-galloyl-beta-D-glucose (PGG) is a naturally occurring gallotannin from some Oriental herbs. Several cell culture studies suggested a potential for PGG as a novel agent for the chemoprevention and treatment of cancer. Here, we investigated the cell death signaling mechanisms induced by PGG in human prostate cancer cells of different p53 functional status. We observed the induction of G(1)- and S-phase arrests and caspase-mediated apoptosis in the androgen-dependent human LNCaP cells, which express wild-type p53, and in the androgen-independent, p53-mutant DU145 cells. In LNCaP cells, caspase-mediated apoptosis induction by PGG was associated with and mediated in major part by activation of p53 as established through small interfering RNA knockdown and dominant-negative mutant approaches. Intracellular reactive oxygen species production by PGG was found to be crucial for these molecular and cellular actions. In DU145 cells, which harbor constitutively active signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), caspase-mediated apoptosis induction by PGG was associated with an inhibition of STAT3 Tyr705 phosphorylation and the down-regulation of STAT3 transcriptional targets Bcl-XL and Mcl-1. Overexpression of Bcl-XL or knockdown of its binding partner Bak attenuated apoptosis induction. Furthermore, we provide, for the first time, in vivo data that PGG significantly inhibited DU145 xenograft growth in an athymic nude mouse model in association with an inhibition of pSTAT3. Our data support PGG as a multitargeting agent for chemoprevention and therapy of prostate cancer by activating the p53 tumor suppressor pathway and by inhibiting STAT3 oncogenic signaling.

Mechanical Heterogeneity of Heat-Resistant EV31A Magnesium Alloy with Large Size Processed by Direct-Chill Casting

        Deping Zhang,Boqiong Li,Chaojie Che,Baosheng Liu,Peng Cheng,Yali Zhao,Jinhui Zhang,Liren Cheng 대한금속·재료학회 2023 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.29 No.10

High quality of large-sized EV31A benchmark alloy was fabricated by direct-chill casting, without significant composition segregation along its radial direction. As-cast samples show noticeable mechanical heterogeneity, such as strength decreasing but ductility increasing from the surface to the center positions of the ingot. After heat treatment, however, mechanical properties of the alloy are nearly the same in each position, indicating mechanical homogeneity, which is mainly attributed to the strengthening mechanism transition from grain-boundary hardening in as-cast samples to precipitation hardening in peak-aged samples. In addition, we found that solute hardening is the athermal strengthening which contributes more to high-temperature strength than precipitation hardening, as evidenced by lower strength loss from 25 to 250 °C in T4-treated sample than in peak-aged sample. Solute hardening effect is thermally stable and extends to high temperatures, which favors the retention of linear strain hardening by retarding dynamic recovery. This work thus provides new insight into designing heat-resistant Mg alloys and understanding mechanical heterogeneity of large-scale Mg alloy ingots.
