The flow field in a centrifugal pump with a large tongue gap and back blades

Jiancheng Cai,Jie Pan,Andrew Guzzomi 대한기계학회 2014 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.28 No.11

In this paper, the unsteady 3-D turbulent flow fields in an end-suction centrifugal pump with a vaneless volute are studied numericallyat three different rotation speeds. The unshrouded impeller of the pump, as a reduced diameter version of the original full-size impeller, has five backswept blades and five pump-out blades. The results show that the flow rate and pressure vary with the rotational speed accordingto the similarity law, and the normalized internal flow fields at all speeds are very similar. Due to the reduced impeller diameter, the pump efficiency is relatively low. Flows discharged from the front and back blade passages interfere with each other and swirlingmotion exists in the volute. The pressure fluctuations on the casing wall near the impeller outlet are extracted, and their spectra show thatthe component at the blade passing frequency was prominent. This study sheds some light on the characteristics of the internal unsteadyflow of a centrifugal pump at different rotational speeds, and forms a basis for future study of flow induced pump vibration and noise.

Circ_0001686 Promotes Prostate Cancer Progression by Up-Regulating SMAD3/TGFBR2 via miR-411-5p

        Pan Jiancheng,Liu Zihao,Yang Zhizhao,Liang Enli,Fang Cheng,Zhang Dingrong,Zhou Xiaodong,Niu Yuanjie,Xin Zhongcheng,Chen Yegang,Cai Qiliang 대한남성과학회 2022 The World Journal of Men's Health Vol.40 No.1

Purpose: As the mechanism of interaction between circular RNAs (circRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) in regulating the development of prostate cancer (PCa) is not clear, this study focuses on investigating these effects. Materials and Methods: Sample tissues were collected from the PCa of patients, and microarray analysis of human circRNAs was conducted. The expression of circ_0001686, hsa_miR-411-5p (miR-411-5p) were also detected by qRT-PCR. Circ_0001686 and miR-411-5p mimics were transfected into the PCa cell lines (CWR22RV1and LNCaP) and MTT, colony formation, Transwell, and scratch wound assays were used to analyze the biological behaviors of PCa cells. Si-circ_0001686 and ASO-miR-411-5p were used as negative controls, and dual-luciferase reporter assays were performed to verify the interactions among circ_0001686, miR-411-5p, and SMAD3/TGFBR2. The levels of SMAD3 and TGFBR2 in different treated PCa cells were measured by western blot, and in vivo experiments in a nude mouse model were carried out to strengthen the in vitro findings of miR-411-5p. Results: The expression of circ_0001686 was up-regulated, while the expression of miR-411-5p was down-regulated in PCa cells. Moreover, circ_0001686 promoted cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Molecular mechanism exploration revealed that circ_0001686 could reduce miR-411-5p, affecting the downstream target genes of SMAD3 and TGFBR2. In vitro and in vivo studies verified that miR-411-5p inhibits PCa progression. Conclusions: Circ_0001686 can reduce miR-411-5p to increase the expression of SMAD3/TGFBR2, which consequently promotes the proliferation, invasion, and migration of PCa cells.

Single nucleotide polymorphism-based analysis of the genetic structure of the Min pig conserved population

        Meng Fanbing,Cai Jiancheng,Wang Chunan,Fu Dechang,Di Shengwei,Wang Xibiao,Chang Yang,Xu Chunzhu 아세아·태평양축산학회 2022 Animal Bioscience Vol.35 No.12

Objective: The study aims to uncover the genetic diversity and unique genetic structure of the Min pig conserved population, divide the nucleus conservation population, and construct the molecular pedigree. Methods: We used KPS Porcine Breeding Chip v1 50K for SNP detection of 94 samples (31♂, 63♀) in the Min pig conserved population from Lanxi breeding Farm. Results: The polymorphic marker ratio (PN), the observed heterozygosity (Ho), and the expected heterozygosity (He) were 0.663, 0.335, and 0.330, respectively. The pedigreebased inbreeding coefficients (FPED) was significantly different from those estimated from runs of homozygosity (FROH) and single nucleotide polymorphism (FSNP) based on genome. The Pearson correlation coefficient between FROH and FSNP was significant (p<0.05). The effective population content (Ne) showed a continuously decreasing trend. The rate of decline was the slowest from 200 to 50 generations ago (r = 0.95), then accelerated slightly from 50 to 5 generations ago (1.40<r<1.50) and increased significantly in the last 5 generations (r = 2.6). According to the composition of Chinese lineage, we separated the nucleus conservation population (81 individuals) and the candidate conservation population (13 individuals) of Min pig, then the nucleus conservation population of Min pig was divided into 9 families by genomic information matrix. Conclusion: Our study indicated that the genetic diversity of the Min pig conserved population was inadequate. Due to the introgression of European commercial pig breeds and the unscientific breeding process, it is necessary to construct the molecular pedigree of the nucleus conservation population for the Min pig. Fluorescent Nitrogen-Doped Carbon Dots via Single-Step Synthesis Applied as Fluorescent Probe for the Detection of Fe3+ Ions and Anti-Counterfeiting Inks

        Chonghui Fan,Kelong Ao,Pengfei Lv,Jiancheng Dong,Di Wang,Yibing Cai,Qufu Wei,Yang Xu 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2018 NANO Vol.13 No.08

Fluorescent nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) with excellent stability were prepared via single-step hydrothermal carbonization of citric acid (CA) and ethylenediamine (EDA). The as-prepared N-CDs emit blue fluorescence under the excitation of 365 nm and have a size distribution of 2.80 ffi 0.47 nm with benign size effect. The structure and morphology were further characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. It was found that the surface of the N-CDs was successfully functionalized, which presented water solubility and chelation with Fe3+. XRD results display a diffraction peak at 23.9 ℃, which corresponds to the (002) interlayer spacing of a graphitic structure revealing an amorphous carbon phase. Furthermore, due to good sensitivity, N-CDs were used as probes for Fe3+ detection. The low limit of detection of 0.6 μM as a fluorescence probe was successfully obtained based on the linear relationship between (F0 - F) / F0 and concentration of Fe3+ ions. Besides the satisfactory fluorescence, PVA/N-CDs membranes and fluorescent inks demonstrate potential for anti-counterfeiting applications due to its characteristic flexibility, transparency, removability and invisibility under ambient lighting.
