        Pretreatment with Lycopene Attenuates Oxidative Stress-Induced Apoptosis in Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells

        Human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been used in cell-based therapy to promote revascularization after peripheral or myocardial ischemia. High levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) are involved in the senescence and apoptosis of MSCs, causing defective neovascularization. Here, we examined the effect of the natural antioxidant lycopene on oxidative stress-induced apoptosis in MSCs. Although H2O2 (200 mM) increased intracellular ROS levels in human MSCs, lycopene (10 μmM) pretreatment suppressed H2O2-induced ROS generation and increased survival. H2O2-induced ROS increased the levels of phosphorylated p38 mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK), Jun-N-terminal kinase (JNK), ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM), and p53, which were inhibited by lycopene pretreatment. Furthermore, lycopene pretreatment decreased the expression of cleaved poly (ADP ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP-1) and caspase-3 and increased the expression of B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) and Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax), which were induced by H2O2 treatment. Moreover, lycopene significantly increased manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) expression and decreased cellular ROS levels via the PI3K-Akt pathway. Our findings show that lycopene pretreatment prevents ischemic injury by suppressing apoptosis-associated signal pathway and enhancing anti-oxidant protein, suggesting that lycopene could be developed as a beneficial broad-spectrum agent for the successful MSC transplantation in ischemic diseases.

      • S-344 : The Role of Skeletal Muscle Mass in Development of Metabolic Syndrome

        Introduction: It has been well known that abdominal adiposity is related with insulin resistance and greater risk of metabolic disorder. Skeletal muscle plays central role in insulin mediated glucose disposal of whole body, but we only know a little about the association between skeletal muscle mass and MetS (MetS). The aim of this study is to clarify the clinical role of skeletal muscle mass in developing MetS through using skeletal muscle parameters by body impedance analysis (BIA). Methods: 1,042 healthy adults aged from 20 to 75 years who visited Yeungnam university health promotion center from Jun. 2008 to Jun. 2010 were enrolled. 204 subjects who had prior MetS or chronic disease that can affect to skeletal muscle mass were excluded. After 24 months from baseline, the metabolic parameters were assessed and the development of MetS was diagnosed using modified NCEP-ATP III criteria. From the BIA (Inbody 720), we obtained skeletal muscle mass (SMM, Kg), body fat mass (BFM, Kg), and visceral fat area (VFA, cm2). Then, we had defined as follows; percent of skeletal muscle mass (SMM%, %): SMM (kg)/weight (Kg), skeletal muscle index (SMI, Kg/m2): SMM (Kg)/height (m)2, skeletal muscle to body fat ratio (MFR): SMM (kg)/BFM (Kg) and skeletal muscle to visceral fat ratio (SVR, Kg/cm2): SMM (Kg)/VFA (cm2) Results: Mean follow up periods were 28.7±5.4 months. Among total 838 subjects (46.9±9.9 years, M:F=477:361), 88 (10.5%) were newly diagnosed MetS. 5th quintile of the SMM%, MFR and SVR was associated with decreased risk of development of MetS after adjusting for confounding factors. Conclusion: Decreased skeletal muscle mass may play critical role in development of the MetS and not absolute amount of skeletal muscle mass but relative ratio to body composition may be more important.

        문제: 최근 몇 년간, 환자 및 보호자들이 의료와 관련된 전문기관을 대상으로, 민원발생이 급, 상승되고 있음이 통계상 확인되고 있다. 목적: 최근 몇 년간, 환자 및 보호자들이 의료와 관련된 전문기관을 대상으로, 민원발생이 급, 상승되고 있음이 통계상 확인되고 있다. 의료기관: 서울에 소재한 2,200병상의 전문종합요양기관 소속 보험 심사 팀 질 향상 활동: 상담 Data base 구축을 위한 전산개발 및 핵심 문제 부분에 대한 직무프로세스 변경, 보완 및 수정 활동결과: 진료비 사례 환자 상담건수는 2003년 기준 75.4%의 증가율을 보였으며, 본원의 민원검수는 전년대비 9%의 감소효과가 확인되었다.

        연행이론의 관점에서 본 평생학습축제의 현상학

        현재 전국적으로 중앙정부로부터 선정된 평생학습도시들은 매년 평생학습축제를 개최하고 있다. 평생학습축제는 평생학습이라는 같은 주제로 지역별로 개최되는 평생교육 관련 기관·단체 간의 교류를 통한 평생학습문화 진흥과 평생학습사회 실현을 목적으로 하는 학습, 문화, 스포츠, 복지 등의 복합적인 종합축제이다. 지역차원에서는 평생학습축제의 기획과 준비에 비교적 많은 시간과 예산, 노력이 투입되고 있으며 평생교육실천가들의 많은 에너지가 수반됨에도 불구하고 이에 대한 성찰적 연구는 매우 적은 편이다. 본 연구는 평생학습문화의 촉진을 위한 정책적 차원에서 매년 개최되고 있는 지역 평생학습축제의 문제를 다룬다. 학습문화를 촉진하기 위한 목적으로 기획되는 축제가 교육적으로 유의미하기 위해서는 축제에 기저를 둔 연행과 의례에 기반한 새로운 경험과 학습의 이행과정을 이해해야 한다. 기존의 축제들은 정책홍보적 성격을 띄고 있어 축제 주제와 컨텐츠의 탈지역성, 운영의 행정주도성으로 인해 교육적 의미가 내포되지 못한 채 중요한 지역행사로 자리잡게 되는 상황에 이르렀다. 이러한 문제의 발단은 평생학습을 생각하며 축제를 기획하는 사람들이 축제가 가지는 연행이론적 측면에서의 교육적 유의미함을 이론적으로 파악하고 있지 못하는데서 비롯된다. 즐거움과 문화적 분위기속에서 경험과 학습이 촉진될 수 있다는 컨셉이 있다면 지역평생학습축제가 전국적으로 대동소이한 주제와 방식으로 그리고 동원된 특정 계층의 참여자를 기반하지는 않을 것이다. At present, the worldwide lifelong learning cities selected by central government hold lifelong learning festival every year. The lifelong learning festival is a general festival combined by studying, culture, sports, welfare, etc. with the purposes that promotion of lifelong learning culture and realization of lifelong learning society through the exchange among the institutions·organizations related to lifelong learning, held in each region, under the same subject, lifelong learning. At regional level, relatively lots of time, budgets and efforts are invested to planning and preparation of lifelong learning festival and lifelong learning doers put lots of energy to it. In spite of it, there is few introspective studies on it. This study treats problems of regional lifelong learning festival held every year at political level for promoting lifelong learning culture. The process of new experience and studying based on festival's performance and rite must be understood so that the festival which is planned to promote studying culture can be significant educationally. Existing festivals have political publicity characteristics, so they become important regional festivals without educational meaning because of the delocality of festival subject and contents and administrative leading of operation. The problem is caused by that people who plan the festival by considering lifelong learning don't grasp the festival has educational significance theoretically from the aspect of performance theory. If there is a concept that experiences and studying can be promoted in the atmosphere of pleasure and culture, regional lifelong learning festival will be neither progressed under similar subject and method nationally nor participated by mobilized special-class participants.

        This paper proposes the new maze running strategy that micro-mouse can run on theshortest path and time in the maze. Also it is explained that the conceptual structure of micro mouse to implement the strategy. And to solve the complex motion control problem, motion tabling method in introduced and implemented. Through computer simulation about the pose control of micro-mouse during running the maze, it is proved that proposed strategy is excellent.

        창조도시 전략으로서의 문화예술교육 : 창조적 학습도시 발전전략에 대한 새로운 논의

        최근 창조도시논의가 활발해지면서 교육과 학습의 창조도시와의 연관성에 주목할 필요가 높아졌다. 2000년 이후 문화예술교육진흥을 위한 법과 제도가 정비되면서 문화예술교육이 학교와 사회속에서 확산되고 있다. 그러나 단순히 문화예술교육을 평생교육의 연장선속에서에 대한 논의하는 것도 의미가 있지만 문화와 예술을 기반으로 하는 도시발전전략인 창조도시와의 연관성속에서 바라보는 것도 흥미롭다고 볼 수 있다. 현재 창조도시논의는 크게 창조적 환경에 대한 논의, 창조인력에 대한 논의, 창조산업에 대한 논의, 그리고 문화발전에 대한 논의 네 가지로 전개되고 있다. 이러한 창조도시에 대한 논의중 문화와 예술을 경제에 활용하는 의미에서의 창조산업에 대한 논의가 가장 활발하나 이러한 논의는 매우 근시안적 사고라고 판단된다. 창조도시는 개별 도시가 가지는 자발적 시스템속에 창조성과 지역성, 네트워크와 미학화, 그리고 학습과 지속가능성이라는 핵심가치를 추구하고 있으며 또 그래야 한다. 이러한 측면에서 창조도시의 핵심가치는 바로 문화예술교육과 매우 밀접한 관련을 가지고 있다. 현재의 문화예술교육은 단순한 프로젝트성 보다는 창조도시를 만들어가기 위한 중요한 전략으로 인식될 필요가 있다. 따라서 문화예술교육은 장기적인 비전속에 지속가능성을 담보해야 하며 예술체험을 넘어서 문화역량을 강화하고 학습망을 구축하며 문화리더를 양성할 수 있는 방향으로 나아가야 할 것이다. As the discussion on creative city has become active recently, the necessary to pay attention to the correlation between education/learning and creative city was increased. While law and system for promoting Culture & Arts Education have been reorganized since 2000, Culture & Arts Education spreads into schools and society. However, it's meaningful to discuss Culture & Arts Education simply in an extension of lifelong education but it's interesting to examine it in the correlation with creative city which is a strategy to develop the city based on culture and arts. At present, the discussion on creative city is unfolded by dividing largely into 4 discussions; discussion on creative environment, discussion on creative man power, discussion on creative industry and discussion on cultural development. Among the discussions on creative city, the discussion on creative industry which means to apply culture and arts to economy is the most active but it is judged to be a very short-sighted thinking. The creative city is seeking core values such as creativity / regional characteristic, network / aestheticization and studying / sustainability in the voluntary system of each city as well as must to seek them. Those core values of creative city are related with Culture & Arts Education much closely in that aspect. Current Culture & Arts Education should be recognized by an important strategy for making creative city, rather than by simple project. Therefore, Culture & Arts Education must to guarantee sustainability in a long-term vision, strengthen cultural capability beyond the art experience, establish learning network and advance to the direction cultivating cultural leaders.

      • 2관성계 전동기 구동 시스템의 축 비틀림 진동 억제를 위한 속도제어기의 특성비교

        This paper deals with the comparison study of speed controller for torsional vibration suppression of 2-mass motor drive system. Firstly conventional methods were classified systematically and the features of each method were also compared. Especially the speed contrller based on Kalman filter and LQ state feedback was proposed and the response characteristics of it were compared with those of some other methods Through various computer simulations and the experiments of real 22[kW] field oriented controlled AC motor drive system having 2-mass mechanical system, the characteristics of proposed speed controller, typical PI speed controller, and state feedback speed controller using reduced order observer and pole placement method were compared and analyzed. As the result, it was confirmed that the characteristic of speed controller using Kalman filter and LQ is the best among them.
