The Effects of CEOs’ Transformational Leadership and Educational Service Quality on Business Performance and Social Responsibility

최근 기업의 경쟁력 확보와 인적자원 개발의 차원에서 구성원을 대상으로 사내교육을 크게 강조하고 있는 실정이다. 또한, CEO의 리더십은 기업성과와 사회적 책임을 이행하는 대표적인 요인으로 인식되고 있다. 이런 관심에도 불구하고 리더십과 품질관련 문헌에서 교육서비스를 적용하여 실제 기업성과 창출에 기여한 실증연구들은 상대적으로 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구는 Cronin et al.(2000)의 품질, 가치, 만족, 행동의도 모델(QVSB Model)에 기반하여 리더십, 교육서비스 품질, 성과의 관계를 검정하였다. 본 모델은 서울에서 기업 내 교육을 이수한 337명의 설문응답자를 통해 수행하였다. 실증분석의 결과로 첫째, 변혁적 리더십은 기업성과와 사회적 책임에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 교육서비스 품질은 기업성과에 직접적인 영향은 없지만, 구성원 만족을 통하여 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과에서 Cronin et al.(2000)의 QVSB Model은 서비스 환경뿐만 아니라 경영전반에서 특성에 맞춰 폭 넓게 확장이 가능하다는 사실과 CEO의 리더십과 기업이 제공하는 교육서비스는 성과창출과 사회적 책임을 실행하는 과정에서 중요한 요인임을 시사한다. This study aims to examine the relationship between leadership, education and performance (LEP) using the theoretical framework by Cronin et al. (2000) on quality, value, satisfaction, and behavioral intentions (QVSB). This model was carried out based on the responses of 337 trainees of corporate education in Seoul, Republic of Korea. As a result of the analysis, transformational leadership (TL) was found to have a direct impact on business performance and social responsibility, whereas educational service quality (ESQ) did not have a direct impact on business performance, but had an indirect impact through employee satisfaction. The results imply that the QVSB model by Cronin et al.(2000) can be utilized in the service environment, while also being expanded management-wide according to different characteristics. Moreover, the consideration of not only the CEO’s leadership, but also educational service, are of great importance in the process of generating business performance and undertaking social responsibility.

「사람이 시스템이다」: DYB 교육그룹의 성공요인과 경영철학

본 연구에서는 ‘사람이 시스템이다’라는 경영철학을 바탕으로 종합교육그룹으로 성장한 DYB 교육의 사례를 조직수명주기모형을 활용하여 분석하였다. DYB 교육은 미취학 아동부터 성인에 이르기까지 다양한 고객층에 특화된 영어교육을 제공하는 교육기업으로, 1993년 설립된 이래 단 한번도 마이너스 성장율을 기록하지 않는 성장을 지속하여 현재 업계에서 차별화된 입지를 가진 교육그룹으로 성장하였다. DYB 교육은 최선어학원으로 시작한 창업 초기부터 교육서비스의 품질에 최선의 가치를 두고 역량을 집중한 결과, 글로벌 교육시장까지 진출할 수 있는 시스템과 교육 역량을 갖추게 되었다. 사례 연구를 통해 DYB 교육의 성공요인을 분석하면 먼저 창업주인 송오현 대표의 전문성과 서번트 리더십을 찾을 수 있다. 송오현 대표는 영어 교육의 전문가로서 20년 이상 개발․축적한 이론과 경험을 바탕으로 ‘서큘라시스템’등의 교육 프로그램을 개발하여 다른 지역의 분원들에서도 동일한 품질의 교육을 받을 수 있도록 하였으며, 서번트 리더십을 통해 교육자의 모범과 경영자로서의 모범을 보임으로써 가치 있는 경영철학 및 교육철학을 실현할 수 있는 조직을 구성하고 이를 통해 기업의 성과를 얻게 된 것이다. 두 번째 성공 요소는 사람을 중시한 송오현 대표의 철학에 따라 투명한 커뮤니케이션과 교육 중심의 조직문화를 구축한 것이다. 여기서 DYB 교육의 핵심역량은 뛰어난 교육기법개발과 우수한 강사(선생님) 인력 확보, 체계화된 관리 시스템에 있다. 즉, 뛰어난 교육역량과 이를 실행하는 우수하고 헌신적인 강사 인재를 유기적이고 일관적으로 관리할 수 있는 교육시스템, 관리시스템, 학습시스템을 체계화하여 양질의 교육을 보장함으로써 지속가능한 성장을 달성할 수 있었다. 셋째는 관련다각화로서 교육 사업에만 집중된 강력한 사업구조를 구축함으로써 경쟁우위를 갖춘 종합교육그룹으로 성장할 수 있었다. 뿐만 아니라, 수익성이 높은 학원 프랜차이즈를 과감히 포기하고, 교육품질을 유지할 수 있는 직영 분원제도를 고수함으로써 본원뿐만 아니라 분원을 직접 운영, 관리하여 강사에 대한 관리책임과 학생과 학부모에 대한 교육 책임을 다하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 DYB 교육의 성장과정을 살펴보고, 이를 통해 핵심역량과 성공요인을 파악해봄으로써 리더십과 조직문화를 근간으로 업계 선두 기업으로 성장하고자 하는 기업들을 위한 시사점을 찾아보고자 한다. This study analyzed the case of DYB Education, a comprehensive education group based on the management philosophy, “People are the system”, by utilizing the organizational life cycle model. DYB Education is a company offering specialized English education to a broad range of customers from preschoolers to adults with a focus on middle school students. Founded in 1993, it has recorded steady growth to become an education group with an unrivalled position in the market today. Initially launched as Choisun Language Institute, DYB Education concentrated on providing quality education services since its inception and as a result, it has developed a system and educational capacity to compete in the global education market. The key success factors behind DYB Education are the expertise of its CEO Song Oh-hyun and servant leadership. Song developed the education program for DYB based on experiences he himself accumulated for more than twenty years as an English education expert and ensured that programs of identical quality were provided in its campuses located in different regions. He acted as a model educator and entrepreneur through servant leadership and composed an organization that could realize his value-based management and education philosophies, thereby achieving corporate success. Transparent communication and a corporate culture based on Song’s humancentered philosophy also acted as success factors. The core capacity of DYB lies in its unmatched education program, talented teachers, and a well-established system. DYB Education strives to ensure quality education through its remarkable education capacity and systemized education, management, and learning systems to effectively manage talented and dedicated teachers. It endeavors to fulfill its mandate in education by taking responsibility for its teachers and towards its students and their parents by adhering to a direct management system where not only the main campus but also its numerous campuses are managed comprehensively. This study aims to examine the growth of DYB Education and identify its core capacity and success factors in order to provide an insight to companies striving to grow into leading companies based on strong leadership and corporate culture.

CBD 프로젝트에서의 MDD/MDA 기술 적용을 통한 개발생산성 향상 사례

O2O 화장품 플랫폼의 서비스 특성이 재구매의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

The digital transformation of the 4th Industrial Revolution brought about rapid changes and innovations in technology and business areas. With the development of digital technology, platform businesses using O2O have emerged, and various services are changing traditinal transaction methods. Therfore, this study expandded the research on the O2O platform to the cosmetics field and analyzed the effect of the characteristics of the O2O cosmetic platform service on the repurchase intention through the perceived usefulness and trust. An empirical analysis was conducted using 300 valid samples for the general public who had purchased cosmetics using a cosmetic platform. According to the analysis results, it was found that among the characteristics of the O2O cosmetic platform service, information provision, order transfer, reactivity, and safety had a significant effect on perceived usefulness. In addition, it was found that information provision, order transfer, reactivity, and safety had a significant effect on trust. This study is meaningful in that it empirically investigated how the characteristics of the O2O cosmetic platform service affect the intention to repurchase.

Effects of Lumbar Stabilization Exercise on Motor Neuron Excitability and Pain in Patients with Lumbar Disc Herniation

Background: Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) causes neurological symptoms by compression of the dura mater and nerve roots. Due to the changed in proprioception inputs that can result in abnormal postural pattern, delayed reaction time, and changed in deep tendon reflex. Objective: To investigate the effects of lumbar stabilization exercises on motor neuron excitability and neurological symptoms in patients with LDH. Design: Randomized Controlled Trial (single blind) Methods: Thirty patients with LDH were recruited; they were randomly divided into the balance center stabilization resistance exercise group (n=15) and the Nordic walking group (n=15). Each group underwent their corresponding 20- minute intervention once a day, four times a week, for four weeks. Participants’ motor neuron excitability and low back pain were assessed before and after the four-week intervention. Results: There were significant differences in all variables within each group (p<.05). There were significant differences between the experimental and control groups in the changes of upper motor neuron excitability and pain (p<.05), but not in the changes of lower motor neuron excitability and Korean Oswestry Disability Index. Conclusion: Lumbar stabilization exercises utilizing concurrent contraction of deep and superficial muscles improved low back function in patients with LDH by lowering upper motor neuron excitability than compared to exercises actively moving the limbs. Lumbar stabilization exercises without pain have a positive impact on improving motor neuron excitability.

Prospective phase II trial of regional hyperthermia and whole liver irradiation for numerous chemorefractory liver metastases from colorectal cancer

Purpose: A prospective phase II trial was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and toxicity of regional hyperthermia and whole liver irradiation (WLI) for numerous chemorefractory liver metastases from colorectal cancer. Materials and Methods: Enrolled patients had numerous chemorefractory hepatic metastases from colorectal cancer. Five sessions of hyperthermia and seven fractions of 3-gray WLI were planned. Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) was determined using the Korean version of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer quality of life questionnaire C-30 and the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Hepatobiliary version 4.0. Objective and pain response was evaluated. Results: A total of 12 patients consented to the study and the 10 who received WLI and hyperthermia were analyzed. WLI was completed as planned in nine patients and hyperthermia in eight. Pain response was partial in four patients and stable in four. Partial objective response was achieved in three patients (30.0%) and stable disease was seen in four patients at the 1-month follow-up. One patient died 1 month after treatment because of respiratory failure related to pleural metastasis progression. Other grade III or higher toxicities were detected in three patients; however, all severe toxicities were related to disease progression rather than treatment. No significant difference in HRQoL was noted at the time of assessment for patients who were available for questionnaires. Conclusion: Combined WLI and hyperthermia were well tolerated without severe treatment-related toxicity with a promising response from numerous chemorefractory hepatic metastases from colorectal cancer.
