Since plant extracts have shown antibacterial activities, we hypothesized that herbal plant extracts would further increase cariostatic efficacies of the fluoride dentifrices.OBJECTIVE: The purposes of this study were to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) of 9 different Korean herbal plants extracts on the S.sobrinus KCTC3308 and the efficacy of NaF-Silica dentifrices with or without the extracts. METHODS; The MIC of the methanol-extracts on the growth of S.sobrinus was determined. Subsurface caries lesions were prepared as previously described (Hong et al.J Dent Res. 77:843, 1998). After Vickers hardness number(VHN) were determined, the specimens were assigned to 9 test groups of 12 each by randornized blocks with VHN stratification. The specimens were tested for remineralization In vitro subsurface enamel lesion under cyclic microbial dynamic condition simulating in vivo carious fomation. The statistical significance of delta VHNs was determined by Students t-test and one-way ANOVA. RESULTS: The MIC of the Angelica gigas extract was 3 ㎎/㎖, as same as Akebia quinata and Camellia sinensis was 4 ㎎/㎖. However, all 9 extracts tested in the study demonstrated the synergistic cariostatic potential with known fluoride dentifrices. CONCLUSION: The NaF-herbal extract in silica base dentifrice significantly increased the cariostatic effect of NaF-Silica base dentifrice.

The number of internet electronic commerce users has increased steadily and EC is now considered not only as the communication tools, but also as the economic activity. But in spite of these global trends, current studies limited to managerial approach are insufficient in the evaluation of EC policies and situations. The purpose of this study are to present satisfaction of customers who will operate foreign internet shopping mall. and to analysis after-purchase behavior on EC satisfaction As a result of making regression analysis, for its satisfaction, the hypotheses on "Shopping Mall Contents", "Information supply", "Convenience of order process", "Economy", "The reliability", "Customer Service were accepted at the p<.0.05 level of significance. for its after purchase behavior, the hypotheses on "Shopping Mall structure", "Convenience of order process", "Economy", "The reliability", etc factors were accepted at the p<0.05 level of significant in 4 factors. In order words, electronic commerce satisfaction became greater when better convenience and economy were provided, the ethics were observed better, more diverse information was supplied and better system support was given. and those who had a higher educational background or better perception of electronic commerce felt more satisfaction, Finally, more usefulness of electronic commerce led to bigger satisfaction after purchase.

대기압 플라즈마에 의한 냉간압연 스테인리스 Micro-Cleaning판재의 에 관한 연구

Atmospheric Plasma Cleaning (APC) was studied for the residual rolling oil contaminants on the surface of cold rolled Stainless Steel after optimizing APC conditions. Electrodes were placed at a distance of 10mm, with an RF power of 220W, and line velocity of 0.5m/min. The residue left by APC was 0.78mg/m², which was less than that of the approximate 1mg/m² by other classical cleaning methods. Especially, APC combined with pre-cleaning by 550℃Nitrogen gas gave a residue of only 0.01mg/m². Cleaning effect are also improved when oxygen gas is added to the atmospheric plasma. It was confirmed by the investigation of the official Korea Chemical Analysis Center that the APC-hot nitrogen method is superior to other methods. The residual contaminants for different methods were as follow : the classical method : about 1mg/m², APC : 0.78mg/m², and APC-hot nitrogen : 0.10mg/m².

<P>Various noble metal-free electrocatalysts have been explored to enhance the overall water splitting efficiency. Ni-based compounds have attracted substantial attention for achieving efficient oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalysts. Here, we show superior electrocatalysts based on NiFe alloy electroformed by a roll-to-roll process. NiFe (oxy)hydroxide synthesized by an anodization method for the OER catalyst shows an overpotential of 250 mV at 10 mA cm<SUP>-2</SUP>, which is dramatically smaller than that of bare NiFe alloy with an overpotential of 380 mV at 10 mA cm<SUP>-2</SUP>. Electrodeposited NiMo films for the HER catalyst also exhibit a small overpotential of 100 mV at 10 mA cm<SUP>-2</SUP> compared with that of bare NiFe alloy (550 mV at 10 mA cm<SUP>-2</SUP>). A combined spectroscopic and electrochemical analysis reveals a clear relationship between the surface chemistry of NiFe (oxy)hydroxide and the water splitting properties. These outstanding fully solution-processed catalysts facilitate superb overall water splitting properties due to enlarged active surfaces and highly active catalytic properties. We combined a solution-processed monolithic perovskite/Si tandem solar cell with MAPb(I<SUB>0.85</SUB>Br<SUB>0.15</SUB>)<SUB>3</SUB> for the direct conversion of solar energy into hydrogen energy, leading to the high solar-to-hydrogen efficiency of 17.52%. Based on the cost-effective solution processes, our photovoltaic-electrocatalysis (PV-EC) system has advantages over latest high-performance solar water splitting systems.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Piperidylmethyloxychalcone improves immune-mediated acute liver failure via inhibiting TAK1 activity

<P>Mice deficient in the toll-like receptor (TLR) or the myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) are resistant to acute liver failure (ALF) with sudden death of hepatocytes. Chalcone derivatives from medicinal plants protect from hepatic damages including ALF, but their mechanisms remain to be clarified. Here, we focused on molecular basis of piperidylmethyloxychalcone (PMOC) in the treatment of TLR/MyD88-associated ALF. C57BL/6J mice were sensitized with <SMALL>D</SMALL>-galactosamine (GalN) and challenged with <I>Escherichia coli</I> lipopolysaccharide (LPS, TLR4 agonist) or oligodeoxynucleotide containing unmethylated CpG motif (CpG ODN, TLR9 agonist) for induction of ALF. Post treatment with PMOC sequentially ameliorated hepatic inflammation, apoptosis of hepatocytes, severe liver injury and shock-mediated death in ALF-induced mice. As a mechanism, PMOC inhibited the catalytic activity of TGF-β-activated kinase 1 (TAK1) in a competitive manner with respect to ATP, displaced fluorescent ATP probe from the complex with TAK1, and docked at the ATP-binding active site on the crystal structure of TAK1. Moreover, PMOC inhibited TAK1 auto-phosphorylation, which is an axis in the activating pathways of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) or activating protein 1 (AP1), in the liver with ALF <I>in vivo</I> or in primary liver cells stimulated with TLR agonists <I>in vitro</I>. PMOC consequently suppressed TAK1-inducible NF-κB or AP1 activity in the inflammatory injury, an early pathogenesis leading to ALF. The results suggested that PMOC could contribute to the treatment of TLR/MyD88-associated ALF with the ATP-binding site of TAK1 as a potential therapeutic target.</P>
