      • A Study on New Nurse Types that Nurses in Comprehensive Nursing Service Hospitals want to have as Part of their Team

        The aim of this study was to compile a subjective categorization of newly licensed nurses with whom comprehensive nursing service hospital nurses want to work and to describe the characteristics of each type as well as to identify categories of the new nurses. The study utilized Q Methodology with 60 nurses of more than one year experience at public hospitals located in Seoul as the nurses were asked to classify 70 statements on perception of new nurses. The collected data was analyzed through QUANAL PC program. In this study, the types of new nurses with whom experienced nurses wanted to work with were categorized into 6 types: “Punctual and Responsible,” “Warm and Empathetic,” “Integrated and Open,” “Prudent Learner,” “Realistic Ideal,” “Mission and Compassion.” By defining the ideal image of a new nurse through categorization of new nurses with whom experienced nurses want to work, this study has provided the baseline data for better human resources management and reducing work stress for new nurses. In addition, these set of findings may provide for more effective training programs for new nurses. This study also established the theoretical framework for a nurse manager’s arrangement of arbitration in helping new nurses adjust.

      • Research on Subjectivity about Clinical Departments where Prospective Nursing Graduates Wish to Work

        This study aimed to investigate subjectivity of prospective nursing graduates about the departments where they wish to work, and describe characteristics of each type and categorize them using Q-methodology. Thirty prospective nursing graduates were asked to categorize 53 statements describing the clinical departments where they wish to work after graduation. The collected data were analyzed using a QUANL PC Program. As a result of this study, the perception by hospital employees of a medical institution certification system was categorized into four factors and eight types. The types of subjectivity about clinical departments where prospective nursing graduates wish to work include ‘departments prioritizing collaboration and respect’, ‘departments prioritizing sociality enhancement’, ‘departments prioritizing confidence enhancement’, ‘departments prioritizing good interpersonal relationships’, ‘departments prioritizing effective communication’, ‘departments prioritizing task acquisition’, ‘departments prioritizing self-development’, and ‘departments prioritizing vulnerable social groups’. This study has provided basic data useful planning personalized interventions for future clinical adaptation in hospitals.

      • Subjectivity Death with Dignity Recognized of Nursing Students

        This study was to identify the subjective attitudes on “death with dignity” perceived by nursing students, and to describe the characteristics of each category. Twenty-nine nursing students at H University located in Chungcheongnam Province, Korea were asked to classify 70 statements on “death with dignity.” The collected data was analyzed utilizing QUANL PC program, SPSSWIN 21.0 program. The study concluded that there were 6 types of attitudes from the nursing students towards “death with dignity.” The types of attitudes towards “death with dignity” were “recognizing value in death with dignity,” “inevitability of choosing death with dignity,” “societal regulation of death with dignity,” “death with dignity electivity,” “death with dignity criteria identification” and “preparing for death with dignity.” The results of this study will provide assistance for organizing a “death with dignity” education program for nursing students and establish a value system towards “death with dignity” through categorization of the nursing student attitudes. The findings will also play a crucial role in identifying the attitudes of nurses towards “death with dignity” after students become nurses and start working in various departments, possibly facing patients considering or being considered for end of life choices, including “death with dignity. Lastly this study meaning of death with dignity would be to the development well dying or death with dignity training program nursing student.

      • Effects of Nurse Staffing on Surgical Patient-Outcomes with Cerebrovascular Disease

        The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between nurse staffing and patient outcomes including inpatient mortality and length of hospital stay. Data were obtained from the '2008 Korea National Patients Survey' conducted by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. The study sample consisted of inpatients with surgical cerebrovascular diseases (n= 728). Nurse staffing was measured using 2 indicators: number of beds per nurse and number of inpatient days per nurse. Hospital characteristics included size, location, ownership, and physician staffing. Patient characteristics were age, gender, primary diagnosis, admission route, type of surgery, and primary payer. Patient outcomes were mortality during hospitalization and length of hospital stay. After controlling for hospital and patient characteristics, the relationships of nurse staffing to inpatient mortality and length of hospital stay were analyzed by multilevel analysis. Nurse staffing was not significantly associated with inpatient mortality. Higher nurse staffing was related to a decrease in length of hospital stay. The study findings suggested that higher nurse staffing might decrease length of hospital stay, which could increase efficiency and profits in providing hospital services. Government and nursing policies are required to ensure adequate nurse staffing in hospitals.

        이 논문에서는 정부와 공공기관의 모바일 공공 서비스를 조사하고, 해외 우수 사례와 비교 분석을 통해 빠른 속도로 발전하고 있는 모바일 생태계에서 지속가능웹 환경을 위한 표준 및 구축 가이드라인 준수의 중요성에 대해 제시하고자 한다. 지속가능웹(지속가능한 웹)을 고려한 모바일 서비스 개선을 통해, 모바일 웹·앱 확산 및 이에 따른 환경에 빠르게 대응하고 시장을 선점할 수 있는 모바일 서비스를 구축할 수 있다. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the current web services of government and public authorities compared with the foreign case studies, and to suggest the sustainable web environmental paradigms for the guidelines in mobile ecological system. Due to the rapidly changing mobile services, the sustainable guideline is so much important for the standardized optimal growing path. By the improved web mobile services under the sustainable guideline, the Korean economy could lead the global trend on the rapidly changing mobile applications standards.

        학습자의 측면에서 본 대학 e-러닝 콘텐츠의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인 분석

        본 연구는 학습자의 측면에서 대학 e-러닝 콘텐츠의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인을 밝히고, 대학 e-러닝 콘텐츠의 질을 향상시키기 위한 구체적인 방안을 모색해 보는 데 있다. 이를 위한 구체적인 연구문제들은 다음과 같다: 1) 대학 e-러닝 콘텐츠의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인은 무엇이며, 각 요인에 대한 학습자의 인식(중요도·만족도)은 어떠한가· 2) 대학 e-러닝 콘텐츠의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인별 중요도와 만족도 사이에는 차이가 있는가· 3) 대학 e-러닝 콘텐츠의 질을 향상시키기 위한 구체적인 방안은 무엇인가? 연구대상은 대학에서 e-러닝 강좌를 수강한 경험이 있는 수도권 지역 대학생 543명이었으며, 조사도구는 선행연구를 토대로 개발된 38개의 문항으로 구성된 설문지를 사용하였다. 자료 분석을 위해 요인분석과 대응표본 t-검증이 사용되었다. 연구 결과, 학습자의 측면에서 본 대학 e-러닝 콘텐츠의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인은 교수전략, 학습내용, 사용성, 평가/피드백, 인터페이스의 다섯 가지로 나타났으며, 모든 요인에서 중요도와 만족도 간에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 또한 요인별 중요도-만족도 매트릭스 분석 결과, 1) 학습내용은 최소한 현 상태를 지속적으로 유지해야 할 요인으로, 2) 사용성, 교수전략, 평가/피드백은 상대적으로 중요성은 떨어지지만 여전히 만족도를 높여야 할 요인으로, 그리고 3) 인터페이스는 중요하지만 만족도가 낮아 만족도를 높이기 위한 방안이 시급히 강구되어야 할 요인으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과에 기초하여 학습자의 측면에서 대학 e-러닝 콘텐츠의 질을 향상시키기 위한 몇 가지 시사점을 제시하였다. The purposes of this study were to identify factors affecting the quality of universities` e-learning contents from the perspectives of learners and to find out specific solutions for improving them. To achieve these goals, research questions were established as follows: 1) What factors were influencing the quality of universities` e-learning contents, and how were learners perceived about each factor(by its importance and satisfaction)? 2) Were there any differences on the learners` perceptions about each factor(by its importance and satisfaction)? 3) What were any specific ways to enhance the quality of universities` e-learning contents? The participants were of 543 university students who took at least one e-learning course and were living in the metropolitan areas(Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi). The survey questionnaire was consisted of 38 items developed through the literature review. To analyze the data collected, factor analysis and paired-sample t-test were conducted. The results were as follows: Five identified factors influencing the quality of universities` e-learning contents from the perspectives of learners were instructional strategies, learning contents, usability, evaluation/feedback, and interface design, and all identified factors were statistically significant differences among the learners` perceptions of its importance and satisfaction. The analysis results of importance-satisfaction matrix by each factor showed that 1) learning contents was the factor that current status should be at least continuously maintained, 2) usability, instructional strategies, and evaluation/feedback were the factors that learners` satisfactions still need to be increased although those importances were not relatively high, and 3) interface factor was important, while learners` satisfaction toward it was not much high so that solutions to increase the satisfaction need to be immediately considered. Based on the results, several suggestions to enhance universities` e-learning contents from the learners` perspectives were also recommended.

      • 단채널 뇌파를 이용한 자동 수면 단계 분석

        다채널의 생체 신호를 사용하는 수면 검사 분석을 실시간으로 단 채널 뇌파를 이용하여 수면 단계를 분석하고자 하는 연구가 시도되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 수면 단계 분석에 최적인 뇌파 특성과 인공신경망의 파라미터를 찾아내기 위한 방법으로 인공신경망과 유전자 알고리즘을 결합한 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법을 수면 다원 검사 환자의 787개의 단 채널 뇌파샘플에 제안된 방법을 적용한 결과, 5층의 신경망 구조 및 최적의 입력 특성을 찾아낼 수 있었다. We developed the automatic sleep scoring system using single channel EEG signal. This sleep scoring system was designed a hybrid system constructed by the neural network and the genetic algorithm using frequency and chaotic characteristics of EEG signal. This hybrid system is based on the feed-forward network revolved by the genetic algorithm to find the optimal structure and input features. The revolved parts by the genetic algorithms are a recognizer generation part and a feature selection part. We designed the structure of chromosomes and the fitness function to find the optimal input feature set and recognition network parameters. The proposed method was applied to score 787 sample EEG signals for 5 sleep stages (REM, stage1, stage2, stage 3 and stage 4). The experimental results showed that the optimal sleep scoring system consisted of 3 layers with 15 to 30 nodes and found the optimal input features and initial weights to converge into the minimum.
