Network-based computing with cluster of personal computers or workstations recently has become an important and successful technique. Network-based computing enables fast computation and resolves short of storage with computers on the desks. Cluster of inexpensive computers offers them aggregated computing power and storage to challenge very large-scale problems. Iterative solvers are used for the large sparse linear systems. Preconditioners accelerate the rate of convergence of the iterative solvers. However, parallelization accelerate the rate of convergence of the iterative solvers. However, parallelization of preconditioners is far from satisfaction so far. Thus, the simplest diagonal scaling is a good alternative for improved convergence and easy parallelization. In order to reduce communication overhead, a data compression technique is considered. Data communication time can be reduced at the cost of convergence rate. MATLAB simulation result is given in this paper. This method is effective to cluster of computers connected through slow networks.
Effects of Phenytoin and Diazepam on the Seizure Activity in the Cortical Dysplasia Animal Models
Kim, Si-Hyung,Choi, In-Sun,Cho, Jin-Hwa,Park, Eun-Ju,Jang, Il-Sung,Choi, Byung-Ju,Kim, Hyun-Jung,Kim, Young-Jin,Nam, Soon-Hyeun The Korean Academy of Oral Biology 2006 International Journal of Oral Biology Vol.31 No.2
Dysplasia-associated seizure disorders are markedly resistant to pharmacological intervention. Relatively little research has been conducted studying the effects of antiepileptic drugs(AEDs) on seizure activity in a rat model of dysplasia. We have used rats exposed to methylazoxymethanol acetate(MAM) in utero, an animal model featuring nodular heterotopia, to investigate the effects of AEDs in the dysplastic brain. Pilocarpine was used to induce acute seizure in MAM-exposed and age-matched vehicle-injucted control animals. Field potential recordings were used to monitor amplitude and numbers population spikes, and paired pulse inhibition in response to stimulation of commissural pathway. Two commonly used AEDs were tested: diazepam 5, 2.5mg/kg;phenytoin 40, 60mg/kg. Diazepam(DZP) and phenytoin(PHT) reduced the amplitude of population spike in control and MAM-exposed rats. However, the amplitude of population spike was nearly eliminated in control rats as compared to the MAM-exposed rats. Pharmaco-resistance was tested by measuring seizure latencies in awake rats after pilocarpine administration(320mg/kg, i.p.) with and without pretreatment with AEDs. Pre-treatment with PHT 60 mg prolonged seizure latency in control rats, but not in MAM-exposed animals. The main findings of this study are that acute seizures initiated in MAM-exposed rats are relatively resistant to standard AEDs assessed in vivo. These data suggest that animal model with cortical dysplasia can be used to screen the effects of potential AEDs.

We investigated the flora of Jang-do (Isl.), an island of the Heuksan archipelago, located in Heuksan-myeon, Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do and discussed the remarkable plants found there. Thirteen-field trips (total 27 days) were completed from May of 2004 to May of 2013. As a result, we identified the distribution of 423 taxa in Jang-do (Isl.), comprising 104 families, 285 genera, 335 species, 78 varieties and 10 forms. There are a total of 95 taxa of floristic regional indicator plants. The floristic regional indicators are as follows; four taxa of level V such as Impatiens furcillata, four taxa of level IV such as Hosta yingeri, 14 taxa of level III such as Ophioglossum vulgatum, 5 taxa of level II, and 58 taxa of level I. In addition 10 red data plants, 2 vulnerable species (VU) including Calanthe striata for. sieboldii, and 4 least concern species (LC) like Ardisia crenata, 2 not evaluated species (NE) such as Hosta yingeri, were found in the investigated area. An unrecorded species, Fragaria (Rosaceae), was found in a forest of Jang-do (Isl.) for the first time in Korea.

김장환,박순택,박진기 한국스포츠리서치 2004 한국 스포츠 리서치 Vol.15 No.4
This study aims to check the effects of the participation in soccer 치ubs on social support, stress, and life satisfaction and examine, first, the relation between the participation in soccer clubs and social support, second, the relation between the participation in soccer clubs and stress, third, the relation between the social support of soccer club members and stress, and, finally, the causal relation between the participation in soccer clubs and social support & stress. The findings according to these study methods and data analysis methcds are as follows: First, the period and frequency of participation influence the social support. That the soccer club members, as they meet their fellow members over a long time, feel emotional comfort and the social support becomes high. Second, the intensity and period of participation influence the material support. That is, the longer the meetings for club members' activities, the higher the material support is. Third, the period and frequency of participation influence the emotional support. That is, as the fellow members meet together frequently over a long time, the emotional support becomes high. Fourth, the frequency and intensity of participation influence the stress. That is, owing to the regular sports activities, the higher the frequency and intensity of the soccer club activities are, the lower the stress becomes. Fifth, the material support, the social support, and spiritual support influence the stress significantly in that order. Sixth, the social support and stress influence the life satisfaction That is, the soccer club activities remove the spiritual and physical stress, and, through the exchanges between club members, the social support is formed and the life satisfaction becomes high. Putting all these together, it is concluded that the participation in the soccer club activities removes the usual stress of the people of today, and produces the life satisfaction as a result of the social support through the interaction between the soccer club members.
Acinetobacter sp. BE-254에 의한 유화제의 생산
김순한,임이종,최경숙,정영기,장경립,이태호 한국미생물생명공학회 ( 구 한국산업미생물학회 ) 1996 한국미생물·생명공학회지 Vol.24 No.2
The strain producing bioemulsifier was isolated from soil samples. The isolated strain was identified as the genus Acinetobacter through its morphological, cultural and physiological characteristics. The highest emulsification activity and stability by Acinetobacter sp. BE-254 was observed after 5 days of cultivation in the culture medium containing n-hexadecane 4%, NaNO_3 0.2%, KH_2PO_4 0.01%, MgSO_4·7H_2O 0.01%, CaCl_2 0.01% and yeast extract 0.01%. The optimum pH and temperature for bioemulsifier production were pH 7.0 and 30℃, respectively. Furthermore the most of bioemulsifier was produced during the exponential growth phase, and this suggested that the bioemulsifier production was growth-associated. The bioemulsifier showed good emulsification activity on various emulsifying substrates such as hydrocarbons, edible oils, and petroeum fractions.
