        A Study on User Interface Design According to 3D Menu Type and Control Type for 3D Displays

        Objective: We proposed an effective 3D menu manipulation alternative with a usability test. This was performed in a 3D environment with 3D menu and control manipulation methods. Background: As 3D stereoscopic displays became generalized, various 3D applications were being used not just movies, games, but also mobile contents and advertisements. However, when a user interface was designed in a 3D environment, it was lacked that a clear standard and result of an efficiency and usability as like a 2D environment. Method: We implemented 9 kinds of 3D menu types based on 3D menu hierarchies, menu layouts and dimensions. And we extracted 3 representative control types in a 3D environment. We performed usability evaluation with full factorial design for 27 menu alternatives with 2 types of menu manipulation tasks. In this condition, we measured the performance time, subjective discomfort and eye-fatigue. Results: A control type had the significant effect, and the effect of menu types had the different result depending on given tasks. Conclusion: This experiment showed the interaction of menu and control types depended on 3D menu manipulation tasks were significant in a 3D user interface design. Therefore, as a purpose of a 3D menu manipulation task, 3D menu types and control types were should be considered. Application: We supposed this result was should be applied in a 3D menu contents design.

        What are the Problems to Improve the Affective Quality using Six Sigma Process?

        Objective: This study investigated the problems that could be faced with when engineers try to improve the affective quality using the DMAIC model. Background: Affective quality is considered one of the most influential factors for the competitive power of consumer products and many engineers make effort to improve the affective quality. Since the Six Sigma process is effective and wide-used method for quality improvement, it can also be used to improve the affective quality. However six sigma tools cannot be directly used for affective quality because of the subjective and qualitative characteristics of the human affection. Method: Investigate the goals, processes and key factors of DMAIC model and find the difficulties to use six sigma tools for the affective quality. Results: Most of the problems arise from measuring and quantifying the human affective response level and understanding the relationship between the human affective factors. Conclusion: Both the protocol for measuring human affection and themonitoring system to find the affective response change for the product or service are required. Application: The results of this study could be helpful for the engineers not specialized in ergonomics to improve the affective quality in systematic approach.

        스마트폰 음성 인터페이스의 사용 현황 및 사용자 인식에 대한 조사 연구

        음성 사용자 인터페이스(VUI)는 인간에게 가장 친숙하고 편안한 인터페이스이다. VUI는 이미 스마트폰에 적용되어 있으며 최근에는 클라우드 및 AI 기술의 발전으로 VUI 적용 제품은 더욱 확대되고 있다. 그러나 가장 많이 보급되어 있는 스마트폰의 경우에도 VUI를 사용하는 사용자는 매우 적은 상황이다. 본 연구의 목적은 현재 스마트폰에서 사용되고 있는 VUI의 이용 현황 및 사용자 인식을 조사하고 문제점을 파악하여 향후 VUI 사용성 제고를 위한 연구방향을 제시하는 것이다. 163명의 대학생들을 대상으로 스마트폰 VUI의 사용 현황에 대한 설문 조사를 수행하였다. 조사 결과 VUI의 인지도는 높지만 사용률은 매우 낮았으며, 많은 사용자가 음성 인식 속도, 반응 속도 및 작동 방법에 대해 불편함을 느끼고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 대부분의 사용자가 호기심에서 VUI를 사용해봤지만 일부만이 계속 사용하고 있는것으로 조사되었으며, 많은 사용자들이 기계에게 말하는 것과 다른 사람들이 듣는 것에 거부감을 가지고 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 VUI의 활용도를 제고하기 위한 향후 연구에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다. Voice User Interface (VUI) is the most familiar and comfortable interface to human. Recently, with the development of cloud and AI technologies VUI has been applied to various products. The aim of this study was to identify the problems of the current VUI and to find the direction of future study by investigating the utilization status and user perception of the VUI of smartphones. A survey was conducted with 163 college students using Google Forms. The results showed that the level of recognition of VUI is high but the rate of usage is very low, and many users feel uncomfortable about the voice recognition rate, reaction speed and operation method. Most of the survey participants tried VUI out of curiosity, but only a small portion of them found it useful to continue to use it. Many participants disliked talking to machines and also did not want others to listen. The study results will guide future research efforts for improving the utilization of VUI.

      • 발부위 3차원 인체측정방법에 관한 연구

        본 연구의 목적은 2003 국민표준체위조사사업에서 3차원 발 형태 및 치수 자료를 효율적으로 수집할 수 있도록 하기 위한 사전 연구 내용이다. 3차원 발 측정 사업은 3차원 발 스캐너로 수집한 자료를 산업체의 제품 설계 기술자, 학계의 연구자, 유통 산업을 포함한 사용자에게 활용가능한 데이터로 가공하여 제공할 수 있어야 한다. 장비선정을 위하여 장비의 데이터 활용 기능성과 측정시의 기능성에 초점을 맞추어 성능을 검증하였으며, 조사 결과 일본의 INFOOT 장비가 최종 선정되었다. 측정 항목으로는 문헌 조사 및 산업체 수요 조사와 장비의 특성을 고려하여 총 39개의 측정 항목을 선정하였다. 3차원 측정 데이터를 정확하고 안정성있게 취득할 수 있도록 하기 위해서 측정 방법 및 장비의 운용, 데이터의 관리 등 전반적인 사업 추진에 대한 체계적인 계획과 실행 방안이 개발 중에 있다.

        감성적 감각반응 분석을 통한 서비스 감성품질 제고 방법

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to propose the useful method to improve service affective quality by analyzing customer`s service experiences and evaluating the satisfaction of the affective sensual responses to physical stimulus. Methods: While customers were experiencing the service, the customers evaluated the subjective satisfaction for the visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory and gustatory senses on a scale of -3 to 3 at each stage of the service process. The customers described the positive and negative feelings about each sensory stimulus, and explained the reason for the subjective evaluation scores. After experiencing the whole service, customers evaluated the affective quality of the whole service. Results: The proposed method was applied to coffee shops. 35 male and female college students were evaluated for 15 coffee shops in Korea. Multiple regression analysis revealed that auditory and olfactory senses had a greater impact on service affective satisfaction than other senses. Conclusion: This method is useful to identify the factors that affect customer`s affective quality and to find the target to improve physical environment more easily than existing methods.

      • 남녀간 웹사이트 선호 감성 차이의 연구

        The purpose of this paper is to investigate the differences between male and female university students of the sensability image preference for the internet websites. To select the adjectives standing for the sensability preference for the internet websites survey and factor analysis was performed. 10 and 11 adjectives that represent the internet websites' sensability image were selected for male and female students. A questionaire survey was also conducted for the male and female university students to inquiry the preference image for the 9 website categories. Using the multi-dimensional scaling method the image preference pattern of each male and female students were analysed. The result showed that male and female students showed different image factors and the image preference depicted by the cognitive map also showed the different pattern between male and female students.
