Metal surface temperatures around the combustion chamber in a gasoline engine directly affect thermal durability aid performance of the engine. Metal surface temperatures are influenced by many cooling factors such as drilled water passage, deflector, combustion chamber wall thickness, pillar, aid coolant flow pattern<br/> The object of this study is to learn how the coolant passages and coolant flow pattern in an engine influence to tile engine metal surface temperature at engine full load aid speed. From the test result. it is suggested a plan to reinforce the engine stiffness aid to reduce the thermal stress simultaneously. Also, approaches arc introduced to reduce the thermal load on the engine by adjusting the discharging direction from the water pump and by optimizing the water transfer holes in the cylinder head gasket.<br/> These methods aid the optimized engine cooling system, which were suggested in this paper, were adapted for an engine in progress to eliminate the exhaust valve scat wear.<br/>

<P>We report on a monolithic dual-mode semiconductor laser operating in the 1550-nm range as a compact optical beat source for tunable continuous-wave (CW) terahertz (THz) generation. It consists of two distributed feedback (DFB) laser sections and one phase section between them. Each wavelength of the two modes can be independently tuned by adjusting currents in micro-heaters which are fabricated on the top of the each DFB section. The continuous tuning of the CW THz emission from Fe(+)-implanted InGaAs photomixers is successfully demonstrated using our dual-mode laser as the excitation source. The CW THz frequency is continuously tuned from 0.17 to 0.49 THz.</P>
Analysis of the erbium silicide growth mechanism on SOI for n-type SB-MOSFETs

We have investigated the formation conditions of the stable Er silicides according to the annealing temperature and various ratios of Er to Si thickness considering the strip process of unreacted Er on the silicon on insulator (SOI) substrate. As the thickness ratio of Er to Si layer increases, the synthesized Er silicides on SOI substrate become gradually unstable. Especially, the Er-rich region is formed near the interface between the Si and BOX layer on decreasing the Si thickness and these unstable Er silicides are easily removed in the strip process by SPM. Also, the amount of Si consumed by Er during the silicide formation and the total thickness of the Er silicides are calculated from the density of the Si, Er, and Er silicide. From the experimental and theoretical results, the thickness of the Er layer should be about 1.5 times greater than the theoretical thickness and must be below 1.5 times the Si thickness to form stable Er silicide.
Characterization of erbium-silicided Schottky diode junction

Trap density, lifetime, and the Schottky barrier height of erbium-silicided Schottky diode are evaluated using equivalent circuit method. The extracted trap density, lifetime, and Schottky barrier height for hole are determined as 1.5×10<SUP>13</SUP> traps/cm<SUP>2</SUP>, 3.75 ms and 0.76 eV, respectively. By using the developed method, the interface of the Schottky diode can be evaluated quantitatively.

This paper presents a split cooling system for a new inIine 4-cylinder automotive engine. The split cooling system circulates coolant to the cylinder head and cylinder block separately. The coolant flow in cylinder block is controlled by a 2nd Thermostat installed at the outlet of cylinder block. The 2nd thermostat closes when the coolant temperature is low And this makes the coolant flow in cylinder block nearly stagnant thereby reducing the coolant-side heat transfer coelIicient and raising cylinder bore temperature. The 2nd thermostat starts to open when the coolant temperature reaches a specified temperature. The test results on engine dynamometer show improved fuel economy and lower exhaust emission which result ftom the decrease in friction works and cooling loss. Also, several vehicle tests with application of the new engine have been performed Fuel economy improvement of 0.5 ~2.0% yields from different test modes and details are discussed in this paper.

Silicided 50-nm-gate-length n-type Schottky barrier metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect-transistors (SB-MOSFETs) with 5 nm gate oxide thickness are manufactured. The saturation current is 120 uA/uM and on/off-current ratio is higher than 10^5 with low leakage current less than 10nA/um. Novel phenomena of this device are discussed. The increase of tunneling current with the increase of drain voltage is explained using drain induced Schottky barrier thickness thinning effect. The abnormal increase of drain current with the decrease of gate voltage is explained by hole carrier injection from drain into channel. The mechanism of threshold voltage increase in SB-MOSFETs is discussed. Based on the extracted model parameters, the performance of 10-nm-gate-length that the subthreshold swing valve can be lower than 60mV/decade.

According to the Korea Robotics Industry Association, the number of robots companies, sales and production are steadily increasing until 2016, and the global robot market outlook is expected to continue to increase until 2025. We need to develop more attention to robots that can make life easier for us and can replace human tasks that we cannot do. It is predicted that robots will be more developed in the future with the above statistics, and future robots will be more activated by robots that can depend on each other, fix each other, and adapt to the changing environment without humans. Therefore, the shape of the robots in the future will be developed as a group robot(swarmbot) that cooperate with each other while the robot works. These robots have been studied for a longtime, but there are only two community robots that are applied in real life, only two of which are jailbreaking robots made in KAIST and KIVA robots made in Amazon company. In the future, as these robots develop more and more, and environment where robots can live without human intervention is created, so that a plurality of robots can collaborate and do individual work.

동백호의 선회권을 파악하기 위하여 Zig-Zag해상 시험을 행하였으며 나타난 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 타각 10˚,20˚,30˚ Z시험에서 선회성 지수 K는 각각 0.188, 0.088, 0.061 로 조사되었고 추종성 지수 T는 각각 15.61, 10.96, 6.27 로서 추종성은 30˚일 때, 선회성은 10˚일 때 가장 양호하게 나타났다. 2. 동백호의 최대 횡거는 타각이 10˚, 20˚, 30˚ 일때 각각 512.2m, 352.8m, 342.4m이였으며, 최대 종거는 각각 526.5m, 367.1m 356.7m로 계산 되어졌다. It is very important for a navigator on bridge to understand the maneuverability of the his ship. Generally, the data of a turning circle test has long been used to study and evaluate the maneuverability of a ship. Besides marine accidents occur in the coast of korea recently. It is considered to be desirable that the “Z” test method to understand the turning circle of his ship at sea. In this paper, the authors performed “Z” test in order to study the maneuverability of M/S Dong Baek, training ship of the Chonnam National University. The obtained results are as follows: There occurs difference in scale of the turning circle by the changes of ship’s rudder angle. As the “Z” test the result turning indices(K) and the following indices(T) of the Dong Baek are 0.188, 0.088, 0.061 and 15.61, 10.96, 6.27 respectively when the rudder indicator changes to 10˚, 20˚, 30˚ . Therefore Max transfers and Max advances of Dong Baek are 512.2m, 352.8m, 342.4m and 526.5m, 367.1m 356.7m respectively when the rudder indicator changes to 10˚, 20˚, 30˚.
