The traverse cam system in a spandex yarn splitting machine is an element to wind the splitted yarn plainly on a winding drum, which is equipped mainly with a differential gear and four-bar linkages. As the cam system is working under a high speed, the dynamic balancing and precise kinematic mechanism is important to enhance working efficiency and reduce vibration problems. In this study, a method to evaluate the mechanism precision and dynamic balance is suggested. Applying this method to the developed traverse cam system showed this method can be effectively used to develop estimate the cam system in the design processes before manufacturing.

Walking mechanisms are very important for legged robots to ensure their stable locomotion. In this research, Klannlinkage is suggested as a walking mechanism for a water-running robot and is optimized using level average analysis. The structure of the Klann-linkage is introduced first and design variables for the Klann-linkage are identified considering the kinematic task of the walking mechanism. Next, the design problem is formulated as a path generation optimization problem. Specifically, the desired path for the foot-pad is defined and the objective function is defined as the structural error between the desired and the generated paths. A process for solving the optimization problem is suggested utilizing the sensitivity analysis of the design variables. As a result, optimized lengths of Klann-linkage are obtained and the optimum trajectory is obtained. It is found that the optimized trajectory improves the cost function by about 62% from the initial one. It is expected that the results from this research can be used as a good example for designing legged robots.

박테리오신의 항균활성 개선을 위해 선행연구에서 개발된 ADH 프로모터에 의해 박테리오신 유전자를 발현시키는 효모발현 벡터에 GPD 프로모터 단편을 도입하여 강력한 프로모터를 가진 효모발현 재조합 플라스미드 DNA를 제작하였다. ADH 프로모터에 의해 박테리오신 유전자를 발현시키는 기존의 형질전환 효모들에 비해 새롭게 개발된 GPD 프로모터에 의해 박테리오신 유전자를 발현시키는 형질전환 효모들이 그람양성 대표세균인 고초균(B. subtilis)과 그람음성 장내세균인 대장균(E. coli) 모두에서 보다 높은 생육억제환을 나타내는 것을 확인하였다. 이 연구의 결과로 GPD 프로모터에 의해 발현이 유도되는 박테리오신 생산 효모들을 이용하여 부패하기 쉬운 식품들의 보존성을 향상시키기 위한 보존제 대체물질 또는 가축 사료에서 병원균의 생육을 저해하기 위한 항생제 대체물질의 산업적인 생산이 가능하게 될 것으로 기대된다. We have previously reported recombinant productions of bacteriocins using yeast expression plasmid pAUR123, which contains the alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) promoter, in Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells and their antibacterial activities. In order to improve the antibacterial activities of bacteriocidal yeast cells, a strong glyceraldehyde phosphate dehydrogenase (GPD) promoter gene of S. cerevisiae was amplified and inserted upstream into bacteriocin genes such as the OR-7, Subpeptin JM4-A or JM4-B gene in the corresponding recombinant yeast plasmid. Yeast cells transformed by the recombinant plasmid containing the GPD promoter represented higher antibacterial activities against both Gram positive B. subtilis and Gram negative E. coli cells compared to those transformed by the corresponding recombinant plasmid containing the ADH promoter. Thus, yeast cells harboring the recombinant plasmid containing the GPD promoter constructed in this study could be applied in the food preservative or animal feed industries.

A method of analyzing load-carrying ropeways is suggested in this study. Compared to to the ropeways for passengers whose tension at the one end of the main rope is given, load-carrying ropeways require different treatment because their main ropes are fixed at both ends. This difference makes the problem of analyzing load-carrying ropeways a statically indeterminate one and some iteraive solution technique seems to be inevitable. But, it is shown that this statically indeterminate problem can conceptually be reduced to a problem of solving a nonlinear algebraic equation in this study, and some numerical method such as Newton-Ropshon method can be applied successfully to solve the problem. Also, some example ropeways are analyzed after the proposed solution technique and the results are discussed.

A computer program for the kinematic analysis of planer mechanisms including cam joints are developed. The program is based on the matrix method which has widely been used for the kinematic analysis of mechanisms with lower pairs only. With proper definition of the joint variables and corresponding coordinate system, cam joints were able to be treated in a similar fashion to a lower pair joints. Thus, with a slightest modification of the general purpose program for the kinematic analysis of planar linkage with lower pairs only, it was possible to treat the mechanisms with cam joints.

A problem of designing optimal parameters of balancing springs to be used for the balancing of input torques of planar mechanismes were studied. The balancing problem is formulated as a standard NLP problem with special constraints on the magnitudes of joint forces, and was solved with the help of heuristic optimization technique. The whole design procedure is explained through an example of a four-bar mechanism and it was found that it's possible to reduce the amount of the fluctuation of input torque drastically without serious increase in the magnitudes of joint forces through well designed balancing springs.
재생셀룰로오스 섬유를 이용하여 제조된 Carboxymethylcellulose(CMC)의 특성에 관한 연구

Carboxymethylcellulose, which is water soluble at room temperature, was manufactured from the cellulose material in this study. Experimental parameter included reaction temperature, time, and concentration of NaOH and trichloroacetic acid. CMC was tested for solubility, degree of substitution, and tensile strength. CMC manufactured from viscose rayon was affected by the chemical concentration rather than the reaction time and temperature. Also, DS is closely related to the solubility of the CMC.
