        Low concentration, multi taste detectable taste sensor using the high transconductance of a cascoded gated lateral bipolar junction transistor

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>People are interested in eating good foods as a way of increasing their quality of life. Research conducted on the quantitative detection and characterization of the taste components of foods has received significant attention in recent years. However, taste sensors with higher sensitivities are needed because the expectations of the public are constantly increasing. In this study, a cascoded gated lateral bipolar junction transistor (C-GLBJT) was developed and used in taste sensor applications for detecting five taste substances. The results showed that the sensitivity of the C-GLBJT taste sensor was 0–2.55μA/decade, and it can detect very low concentrations (down to 1fM) of five taste solutions. The developed integrated C-GLBJT sensor could be able to provide more precise information about foods to consumers and patients who are interested in their well-being. Also, it may be of great help to advertisers and businessmen by providing them with reproducible quantitative information about their products.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The cascaded gated lateral bipolar junction transistor (C-CLBJT) that has the high transconductance was developed and used in the taste sensor. </LI> <LI> The proposed taste sensor can detect five kinds of taste solutions which are very low concentration up to 1fM. </LI> <LI> Also, the proposed taste sensor has the sensitivities of 0–2.55μA/decade according to the types of lipid sensing membranes. </LI> <LI> The measuring capability of the proposed sensor is very large, and it can detect concentrations that are lower than the 1μM limit of human’s limit. </LI> <LI> Therefore, it can satisfy human expectations and may be of great help to enterprises through the quantification of the five kinds of tastes. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        학교 내 영상정보처리기기 운영 현황 및 정보공개 확대방안 : 세종시 공립 초등학교를 중심으로

        본 연구는 학교 CCTV 방침 내 업무의 불명확성을 해소하기 위해 학교 현장에서 적용 가능한 구체적 업무와 담당자를 도출하여 개선방안을 제시하고, CCTV 방침 내에 담당자와 업무에 관한 공개범위를 확대하는 데 목적이 있다. 법령에 따라 인터넷 홈페이지에 공개한 세종시 51개 공립 초등학교의 CCTV방침수집과 운영현황을 분석하였다. 첫째 개인정보보호위원회와 교육부의 CCTV 가이드라인이 혼재된 방침 사용을 확인하였다. 둘째 학교별 CCTV방침에서 업무담당자 직위의 일관성이 없거나 업무가 불명확하였다. 셋째 본 연구에서 도출한 20개 업무는 학교 현장에서 적용 가능함을 확인하였다. 일부 신설 학교의 경우 본 연구 방침작성예시를 적용하여 담당자와 업무가 구체적이고 공개범위가 확대된 것을 발견하였다. 넷째 본 연구에서 밝혀진 교육부 CCTV 가이드라인의 미비점 보완이 필요하다. 본 연구에서 제안한 CCTV와 관련된 상세한 업무를 참고하여 신설 학교에서 개교 초기 업무 배분 시 활용할 수 있다. 학교 CCTV 운영에 관한 정보공개범위가 확대될 때, 투명한 영상정보처리기기 운영과 알 권리를 보장하여 국민권익 증진에 기여할 것이다. The guidelines for usage and monitoring of closed circuit televisions (CCTV) in schools are not clearly specified. This study aims to identify the detailed tasks for the efficient operation of video surveillance systems in schools and to verify their applicability in the field. It has been confirmed that twenty newly detailed tasks are applicable in the field. The detailed work status of CCTV operations for 51 public elementary schools in Sejong city was confirmed through the CCTV policy posted on the school s Internet homepage. Additionally, some newly opened schools listed the policy for the office of education, and this specifically included the role and responsibilities of the faculty, and the scope of disclosure was expanded. It is imperative to supplement the contents in the guidelines for the installation and operation of CCTVs in schools, by specifying the positions and duties of the persons in charge. The detailed tasks proposed in this study can be used at the early stage of allocating a new school work task. It is expected that public interest will be promoted by ensuring the operation of transparent video information processing and the public s right to know will be add ressed through the expansion of the scope of information disclosure on the operation of CCTV in schools.

        학교내 영상정보처리기기 업무 처리 실태 및 개선을 위한 소고 : 세종시 공립학교 공문서 처리행태를 중심으로

        본 연구는 학교 안전 관련 관심과 대응 정책이 증대되는 시점에 학교 내 CCTV 운영 사례를 바탕으로 교사와 행정직원들의 CCTV에 대한 행동양태를 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 또한 교직원의 공문처리 행태변화를 가져올 수 있는 교육당국의 여러 시 도를 통해 드러난 주요 시사점을 비교분석하였다. 학교급별‧교직원별 영상정보처리기기관련 업무 배분을 정량적인 자료, 즉 공문처리에 의한 행정행위의 결과를 원시자료로써 활용하면서 변화를 파악하였다. 교육청 공문서에 의해 단위학교의 행동양태의 유의미한 변화가 있음을 발견하였다. 첫째 학교급별로 개인정보 관련 공문처리자 지정 시 행태의 변화도가 높았다. 둘째 유치원을 대상으로 한 유아안전관련 공문처리자 지정 시 공문서에 의한 변화도가 낮았다. 학교급별 교직원의 CCTV 업무 처리행태를 공문서 접수처리를 통해 차이를 확인하였다. 본 연구는 학교 내 민감한 주제인 CCTV(영상정보처리기기) 업무에 대한 주제를 선정하였으며, 진행된 자료나 조사 내용은 구체적인 상기주제를 다룬 행정 절차와 관련 규정 등의 내용이다. CCTV(영상정보처리기기 업무)라는 민감한 주제를 통해 발 생할 수 있는 갈등 해결책 모색을 위한 시사점을 제시하였다. 이 연구결과는 교육청과 학교현장의 명확한 업무분장을 위하여 유용하게 활용할 수 있다는데 의의가 있다. Purpose: School safety has recently become an important issue. In order to make a school environment safer, surveillance cameras have been installed in the facilities. The number of installations has been increasing rapidly since they have been considered widely recognizable and highly effective. However, conflicts between faculty and staff in installing and operating the system have also been increasing. In terms of school safety, these individuals’ cooperation is more than necessary. It is judged that looking into how they perceive the system could provide us with some suggestions on how to manage the related issues. The purpose of this study is to understand the perspective of faculty over closed-circuit television (CCTV) and make suggestions by analyzing their actions. Approach: In order to achieve the research objectives, I surveyed administrative actions such as the processing of official documents and CCTV policies for teachers and administrative staff of public schools in the Sejong Office of Education. In addition, I analyzed the behavior of those managing personal information and school safety-related documents along with the degree of complying with the policies. Finding: First, the correspondence rate of documents was high when there were designated document processors. Second, the acceptance level of documents in preschool was relatively low when there were designated processors. Third, the degree of accepting the policies and complying with them was higher in newly established schools than in existing schools. I found differences in the perception of how to handle the CCTV operations and the related work among the two groups of participants. In addition, I made suggestions on how to resolve the conflicts between them. Value: In this study, the education authorities quantified and measured the recognition and acceptance of faculty and staff regarding CCTV at each school level. Results showed that the active role of education authorities can make positive changes in how faculty and staff perceive the CCTV system and the problems surrounding it through school administrative action. In this regard, these results are meaningful in reducing the conflicts among the two groups and improving the organizational culture.

        지방재정의 통합성과보고시스템구축과 활용방안: IIRC 국제통합보고 프레임워크를 중심으로

        본 연구에서는 통합보고시스템을 지방자치단체에 도입시 고려사항과 활용방안을 제시하였다. 정부3.0으로 대표되는 신정부의 패러다임 하에서 통합보고제도 도입을 모색하였다. 이 패러다임을 지방자치단체에 적용하여 성과를 거두기 위해서는 많은 장애물을 극복해야한다. 국제통합보고 프레임워크 도입을 통해 주민과 효과적으로 소통하고, 부서간 협력하여 지방자치단체의 경쟁력을 높일 수 있다. 통합보고는 정부3.0에서 해결하고자 의도한 사일로사고에 의한 부서간 장벽과 이에 따른 비효율을 극복하기 위한 효과적인 수단이될 수 있다. 프레임워크의 통합적 시각에 의해 지방자치단체의 행정 및 재정적 자원을 사용해 얻은 가치를 공개할 경우 회계설명책임과 투명성 강화뿐만 아니라 주민들의 신뢰도를 제고할 수 있다. 견실한 재정상태를 유지시키기 위해 추진 동력을 공급하고 정책의 지구력을 유지하기 위한 지방자치단체의 내부활동에는 한계가 있다. 또한 주민들이 체감할 수 있을 정도의 성과를 창출하기 어렵다. 제안된 제도는 프레임워크를 도입하여 가치창조활동을 수행하고 그 성과를 통합보고서 형태로 주민과 소통하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 제도의 궁극적 목표는 통합사고와 통합보고활동을 지방자치단체의 주요 활동에 내재시켜 주민중심 지방행정으로 패러다임을 변화 시키는 것이다. This study presents how to utilize and what to consider when implementing an integrated reporting system in local government. This paper makes an attempt to introduce the integrated reporting in the paradigm of the new government, so-called government 3.0. There are, however, many obstacles ahead of us to tackle in order to produce expected performances by applying the paradigm to the local government. It is possible to increase the competitiveness of local governments, by actively communicating with residents and cooperating with departments in the organization through the introduction of international integrated reporting(<IR>) framework. The integrated reporting can become an effective means to overcome inefficiency of work performances caused by the barriers between each department as the results of silo-thinking, which the government 3.0 intends to tackle. If value creation capability is made public using the administrative and financial resources of local government through the integrated perspectives of framework, apart from improving the accountability we can not only acquire the transparency, but improve the reliability of residents. There is a limit to the internal activities of local governments that supplies power and maintains the endurance of policies in order to sustain sound fiscal administration. In addition, it is difficult to create as many results as residents can get to experience. The proposed system intends to perform value creation by putting the framework and integrated thinking in place and utilizing the administrative and financial assets effectively. Therefore, the results of the activities are provided to local residents in the form of integrated report. Ultimately, the aim of the system is to get both integrated thinking and integrated reporting embedded into policies and activities of local governments in administering and executing them.

        Volatile Organic Compound Gas Sensor Using a Gated Lateral Bipolar Junction Transistor

        In this paper, we report the fabrication of a gated lateral bipolar junction transistor (LBJT) that is used as a sensor for volatile organic compound (VOC) gases. The proposed sensor was fabricated using a standard 0.35-µm process. The sensor can function as both a metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) and a BJT. The floating gate of the sensor was coated with a solvatochromic dye, which exhibits charge-transfer (CT) characteristics, as the sensing membrane of the sensor. The gated LBJT was driven under emitter (source) bias and base current control. Owing to the interaction of the VOC gas with the sensing membrane, the emitter (source) current value changed; this change was detected by using a semiconductor test and analyzer (STA-EL421, ELECS). Results show that our fabricated semiconductor-based gas sensor can be effectively used under normal temperature.

        New Structural Design of Gated Lateral Bipolar Junction Transistor for Sensor Applications

        <P>In this paper, we propose a gated lateral bipolar junction transistor (GLBJT) that has a cascade structure, resulting in improved sensing performance over conventional GLBJTs. The device can be operated in bipolar junction transistor (BJT) mode, metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) mode, and a hybrid MOSFET-BJT mode under input bias control. The device exhibits higher transconductance than that of conventional GLBJTs owing to the cascade structure using pMOSFET. The cascade effect generated in the proposed device is shown to increase the transconductance, and the results from two experiments [pH response and C-reactive protein (CRP)-antigen detection] demonstrate that the sensitivity of the proposed sensor exceeds that of conventional GLBJTs. The proposed device offers approximately 2.5 times that the sensitivity of conventional GLBJTs in the pH and CRP-antigen detection experiments. These results confirm that the proposed device has enhanced sensitivity and suggests the possibility of realizing more efficient sensors with better sensitivity than that of conventional GLBJTs.</P>
