        Effects of Phenytoin and Diazepam on the Seizure Activity in the Cortical Dysplasia Animal Models

        Dysplasia-associated seizure disorders are markedly resistant to pharmacological intervention. Relatively little research has been conducted studying the effects of antiepileptic drugs(AEDs) on seizure activity in a rat model of dysplasia. We have used rats exposed to methylazoxymethanol acetate(MAM) in utero, an animal model featuring nodular heterotopia, to investigate the effects of AEDs in the dysplastic brain. Pilocarpine was used to induce acute seizure in MAM-exposed and age-matched vehicle-injucted control animals. Field potential recordings were used to monitor amplitude and numbers population spikes, and paired pulse inhibition in response to stimulation of commissural pathway. Two commonly used AEDs were tested: diazepam 5, 2.5mg/kg;phenytoin 40, 60mg/kg. Diazepam(DZP) and phenytoin(PHT) reduced the amplitude of population spike in control and MAM-exposed rats. However, the amplitude of population spike was nearly eliminated in control rats as compared to the MAM-exposed rats. Pharmaco-resistance was tested by measuring seizure latencies in awake rats after pilocarpine administration(320mg/kg, i.p.) with and without pretreatment with AEDs. Pre-treatment with PHT 60 mg prolonged seizure latency in control rats, but not in MAM-exposed animals. The main findings of this study are that acute seizures initiated in MAM-exposed rats are relatively resistant to standard AEDs assessed in vivo. These data suggest that animal model with cortical dysplasia can be used to screen the effects of potential AEDs.

      • 江原道內 造景植物의 利用과 有用自生植物에 관한 硏究

        This study was executed to find out how to improve the planting and use of landscaping plants in Kangwon-Do by surveying the planting, gardens, parks, schools, etc. and the main mountains in this province to select available native plants. The result are as follows: 1. Forty-four tree species and 41 flower species were counted at 703 schools in Kangwon-Do. The major species of school trees were Juniperus chinensis, Pinus densiflora, Abies holophylla, Ginkgo biloba, Pinus koraiensis, Taxus cuspidata, Zelkova serrata, and Pinus thunbergii. The ratio of native species to exotic was 35:9. The major species of school flowers were Rosa centifolia, Forsythia koreana, Zinnia elegans, Rhododendron mucronulatum, Chrysanthemum morifolium, and Rosa rugosa. The ratio of native species to exotic was 21:20. 2. Twelve flower species and 7 tree species were designated in 18 City and Keun. The species of flowers that ,presented high designation frequency were Rhododendron schlippenbachii, Forsythia koreana, Magnolia sieboldii, and Prunus armeniaca var. ansu, the trees that presented high designation frequency were Ginkgo biloba, Pinus koraiensis, and Taxus cuspidata. 3. Eighty-seven woody plants species were planted in 2003 and 2004 in the Young Seo district (the southern area of Kangwon-Do), the ratio of native species to exotic was 56:31. The major species of woody plants were Pinus densiflora, Prunus yedoensis, Prunus sargentii, Cornus officinalis, Pyrus pyrifolia, Rhododendron yedoense var. poukhanense, Pinus koraiensis, Taxus cuspidata, Hibiscus syriacus, Forsythia koreana, Zelkova serrata, Acer triflorum, Rhododendron obutusum, and Ligustrum obtusifolium. A total of 620,000 plants were planted. 3. Eighty-seven woody plants species were planted in 2003 and 2004 in the Young Seo district (the southern area of Kangwon-Do), the ratio of native species to exotic was 56:31. The major species of woody plants were Pinus densiflora, Prunus yedoensis, Prunus sargentii, Cornus officinalis, Pyrus pyrifolia, Rhododendron yedoense var. poukhanense, Pinus koraiensis, Taxus cuspidata, Hibiscus syriacus, Forsythia koreana, Zelkova serrata, Acer triflorum, Rhododendron obutusum, and Ligustrum obtusifolium. A total of 620,000 plants were planted. 4. Eighty-three woody plants species were planted recently in Youngdong district (the eastern area of Kangwon-Do), the ratio of native species to exotic was 53:30. The major species were Pinus thunbergii, Rhododendron lateritium, Rhododendron schlippenenbachii, Hibiscus syriacus, Prunus yedoensis, Pinus densiflora, Syringa dilatata, Rhododendron yedoense var., Poukhanense, Rosa rugosa, Prunus sargentii, Rosa centifolia, Juniperus chinensis, Euonymus japonica, Forsythia koreana, Chionanthus retusus, Acer palmatum, and Chaenomeles sinensis. 5. Through these results, it was thought that a diversification of plant species, including a selection of plants suitable to each space and the general use of native species were needed. So 254 plants native to Kangwon-Do were presented to correspond to these requirements. The especially valuable wild plants were Chionanthus retusus, Acer mandshuricum, Acer tegmentosum, Celtis sinensis, Malus baccata, Syringa wolfi, Cornus controversa, Styrax japonica, Styrax obassia, Sorbus commixta, Deutzia coreana, Viburnum carlesii, Sambucus williamsii var. coreana, Philadelphus schrenckii, Echinosophora koreensis, Exochorda serratifolia, Spiraea trichocarpa, Symplocos chinensis for. Pilosa, Rhododendron brachycarpum, Rhododendron micranthum, Rosa davurica, Rhododendron mucronulatum for. albiflorum, Actinidia spp., Akebia quinata, Vitis amurensis, Aster koraiensis, Chrysanthemum boreale, Chrysanthemum zawadskii var. latilobum, Dianthus sinensis, Heloniopsis orientalis, Hosta lancifolia, Hylomecon vernale, Leontopodium coreanum, Lilium spp., Aceriphyllum rossii, Paeonia obovata, Patrinia saniculaefolia, Primula sieboldi, Convallaria keiskei, Sedum kamtschaticum, and Saxifraga fortunei var. incisolobata.

        鎔接이음한 構造用鋼의 疲勞龜裂進展擧動

        In recently, according to increase the construction rate fo steel bridge, it is necessary to develop the high strength, high toughness steel. Thus, this study show to evaluate the fatigue characteristic of SWS 570 B first used within a country. With the weld-joined compact tension specimens compared with each other, that is, transverse and lengthwise about the crack propagation, high and low in the imput heat level, the fatigue test were performed. The log-log curves between the fatigue crack propagation rate da/dN and the transition range of the stress intensity factor △K ahead the crack tip were drawed, with these data. By using this curve, we obtained C and m which is material constant from Paris-Erdogan power law. The opbtained resutls from this study indicate that fatigue crack growth rate of SWS 570 B is not heat input weld is carried out. Softening effects, which affect fatigue properties, are shown that it is not affected to the fatigue growth rates significantly.

        미국에서 무역과 노동기준

        The United States is probably the country that has enacted the most legislation linking trade and labour standards. This is a reflection of the US constitutional system, which gives strong regulatroy powers to the Congress, and of the high visibility given to labour standards issues in U.S. legislation. Five U.S. trade laws currently cindition assistance or access on respect for labour standards. Four of these laws authorize programs of trade or investment assistance, and one governs direct access to U.S. markets. The laws are Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act, the Generalized System of Preference, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the Abency for International Development law and Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974(as amended in 1988). The frist four statutes pertain only to developing countries receiving non-reciprocal trade benefits conferred by the United States. Those pieces of legislation permit the United States to suspend the non-reciprocal benefits of any beneficiary nation that violates labour rights. Section 301, however, is qualitatively different from the other legislation because it applies to all trading partners of the United States. Consequently, it applies to all trading partners of the United States. Consequently, it gives the office of the US Trade Representative(USTR) the authority to investigate foreign laws, policies and practices that are alleged to be unreasonable, unfair or discriminatory, and to negotiate with all the countries in question for redress, not just those receiving non-reciprocal United States-conferred trade benefits. Of these programmes, the GSP and Section 301 are most important tools in terms of promotiong better labour standards, and will be discussed here, as they are more influential as regards other countries' trade policy than the other trade laws

        UML is able to visualize and specialize the output of the system center of the software, and able to connect to various languages and is constructed by engineering/re-engineering. Also, UML is a standard Modeling Language that aims at the documentation. Recently Web Application System is quickly popular and gigantic, it's possible to do modeling using UML which is the method of Object-Oriented analysis and design and simplify the complex developing course of software. In this paper, we suggest the 『Post Seminar System』 model for instance Object-Oriented Web Application which can increase the efficiency of businesses through of exchanging information with members. We constitute web application by separating it into 3 steps such as View class which takes full charge of Screen Presentation, controller which plays the role of connecting ring and divergence of View class and Model class, and Model class that takes charge in the gear with the Application Logic and DB applying MVC model which has considerable merit in developing and maintaining the web application.

      • 근력훈련이 스쿼시의 볼 속도 및 정확성에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of muscular strength training on the ball speed and accuracy of squash. Moreover, this study will provide useful information to both squash coaches and squash enthusiasts alike to improve participation in this exciting form of physical training for a healthier lifestyle. 20 women who play squash regularly, ages 30-40, were separated for a period of 12 weeks into two groups: one group who would play squash and perform in conjunction with the squash muscular strength training, and another group (the control group) who would only play squash. The group playing squash and performing muscular strength training operated by warming up for 5 minutes, playing squash for 30 minutes, performing muscular strength training for 20 minutes, and finally cooling down for 5 minutes. The control group only played squash for instead of muscular strength training. Both groups performed their routines 3 times every week for 12 weeks at a sports center located in Incheon. From our observations, we were able to draw the following conclusions: 1. The ball speed of the group participating in muscular strength training revealed a significant difference in their forehand stroke and backhand stroke compared with the control group. 2. However, the accuracy of the group participating in muscular strength training didn't reveal a significant difference in their forehand stroke or backhand stroke compared with the control group. In conclusion, the group involved in both playing squash and conducting muscular strength training revealed a significant difference from the control group in terms of their ball speed. Although there was no change in the participants' accuracy, it can be seen that muscular strength training can have a positive benefit. In accordance with these results it is thought that muscular strength training would improve one's ability in squash.
