Background: Signet ring cell carcinoma (SRC) of the stomach has been known to have different microscopic and biologic characteristics compared to non-SRC. Thus, a pathologic report has documented partly SRC component with other main histologies in gastric cancer. However, the clinical significance of SRC mixture has not been reported. The aim was to investigate clinicopathologic features of mixed-SRC histology in early gastric cancer (EGC). Methods: Between 1999 and 2005, 2208 patients were diagnosed with EGC and underwent surgery at Severance and Gangnam Severance Hospital. Among them, 156 patients were diagnosed with adenocarcinoma with partly SRC (mixed-SRC group), 1,512 with only adenocarcinoma (adenocarcinoma group), and 540 with SRC (SRC group). Clinicopathologic characteristics among the mixed-SRC, adenocarcinoma, and SRC groups were analyzed. Results: The SRC group was more significantly associated with younger age, female, mid-body location, mucosa-confined, depressed type, lower lymph node metastasis (LNM), lower lymphovascular invasion, and a better survival rate than the adenocarcinoma group. The mixed-SRC group was more significantly associated with younger age, female, upper-body location, and depressed type than the adenocarcinoma group, similar to the SRC group. However, the mixed-SRC group showed more submucosal invasion, larger size, and higher LNM than SRC and adenocarcinoma groups. Also, a mixed-SRC component was one of the independent risk factors of LNM. Conclusions: The mixed-SRC group displayed different clinicopathologic characteristics from other groups. Mixed-SRC histology in EGC showed more aggressive biologic characteristics than SRC and adenocarcinoma. Thus, clinical considerations of mixed-SRC histology may be helpful to decide on a specific cancer treatment.

<P>A simple catalytic system that uses commercially available cobalt(II) perchlorate as the catalyst and 3-chloroperoxybenzoic acid as the oxidant was found to be very effective in the epoxidation of a variety of olefins with high product selectivity under mild experimental conditions. More challenging targets such as terminal aliphatic olefins were also efficiently and selectively oxidized to the corresponding epoxides. This catalytic system features a nearly nonradical-type and highly stereospecific epoxidation of aliphatic olefin, fast conversion, and high yields. Olefin epoxidation by this catalytic system is proposed to involve a new reactive Co<SUP>II</SUP>–OOC(O)R species, based on evidence from H<SUB>2</SUB><SUP>18</SUP>O-exchange experiments, the use of peroxyphenylacetic acid as a mechanistic probe, reactivity and Hammett studies, EPR, and ESI-mass spectrometric investigation. This paper presents the switching angle and voltage for maximizing torque of 4-phase 6-poles SRM The switching angle and voltage was determined through the approximated analysis and computer simulation by using SIMULlNKiID according to the speed and torque required by load. but we use new analytic equation from maximum torque characteristic. And then one-chip micro-controller controls the switching angle and voltage of an asymmetrical inverter in the SRM driver. Also, we expects that this method reduce micro-controller load and realize approximated real time control

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) colitis is common among immunocompromised patients, and often diagnosed by pathologic confirmation because it is associated with a diverse spectrum of clinical and endoscopic features. However, Crohn`s disease has no definitive diagnostic criteria, but longitudinal ulcers and cobble stone appearance are accepted as typical endoscopic features of Crohn`s disease. An 83 year-old male with a history of radiotherapy for hypopharyngeal cancer visited our hospital with a complaint of melena for 1 week. His colonoscopic exam showed multiple longitudinal ulcers along the entire colon. Most of the ulcers were longer than 4 cm, these endoscopic findings were suspected as typical endoscopic features of Crohn`s disease. Pathologic reports revealed multiple inclusion bodies with CMV on immunohistochemistry. He was finally diagnosed as having CMV colitis, and received a 3 week-course of intravenous ganciclovir. A colonoscopic follow-up showed complete healing of the multiple longitudinal ulcers, and he is doing well now without further treatment. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2012;59:303-307)

Recently, the real time simulator to develop the inverter drive board and motor control algorithm for high power induction motor and PM synchronous motor is required. In this paper, the real time simulator based on the voltage control for a PM synchronous motor is proposed. The resistor, inductor, and the induced voltage for the modeling of a PM synchronous motor is implemented by the power converter including the LCL filter and the PWM rectifier. The induced voltage of a PM synchronous motor is simulated by the capacitor voltage of the LCL filter, which is controlled by PI voltage controller and the deadbeat current controller. The operation and the simulated characteristics of the proposed real time simulator for a PM synchronous motor is verified by the simulation.

대장 지방종은 대장에서 가장 흔한 간엽조직 종양으로, 소장, 위, 식도에서도 발생할 수 있다. 대부분의 경우 증상이 없어 치료가 필요하지 않고, 대장내시경이나 수술을 통해 우연히 발견되는 경우가 많지만, 크기가 큰 경우에는 복통, 출혈, 폐색, 장중첩 등과 같은 합병증을 동반할 수 있어 제거를 고려하여야 한다. 2 cm가 넘는 지방종의 경우, 내시경 절제시 합병증 발생률이 높기 때문에 수술적 제거가 권장되고 있으나 최근 내시경적 용종 절제술, unroofing 기법 및 박리성 올가미를 이용하여 단계적으로 지방종을 내시경적으로 제거한 예가 보고되었다. 저자들은 7 cm 크기의 거대 대장 지방종을 unroofing 기법과 박리성 올가미를 사용하여 반복적 교액을 통해 단계적으로 크기를 줄여 내시경적으로 제거한 1예를 경험하였기에 보고한다. Colonic lipomas are the most common tumors of mesenchymal origin in the large intestine. These tumors are typically found in the colon, but are also discovered in the small bowel, stomach, and esophagus. Most gastrointestinal lipomas are asymptomatic and are discovered incidentally during endoscopy or surgery. Large lipomas can cause abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, obstruction, and intussusceptions and therefore require resection. Surgical resection is typically only considered for the removal of giant lipomas > 2 cm because of concerns regarding the high complication risk of endoscopic resection. New techniques that use endoscopic snare polypectomy with endoloops or endoscopic resection with an endoloop after an unroofing technique have recently been reported. We herein report a case of a 7-cm giant colonic lipoma that was removed by an endoscopic unroofing technique and repetitive endoloop ligation and strangulation.

The Daebong gold-silver deposits is located in 8 km southwest of Cheongyang, Chungcheongnam-Do, Republic of Korea. The gold-silver-bearing hydrothermal quartz veins was formed within the Precambrian metasediments of Gyeonggi massif. Ore minerals occur as mainly of pyrite, sphalerite (0.78~6.19 wt.% Cd), galena, pyrrhotite and minor amounts of chalcopyrite, arsenopyrite, magnetite, ilmenite, chalcocite, electrum (55.00~89.55 wt.% Au) and argentite. The gangue minerals are quartz, calcite, chlorite, K-feldspar, biotite. Wall-rock alterations such as chloritization, silicification, pyritization, carbonatization and sericitization can be observed near the quartz veins. According to the mineral paragenetic sequence based on vein structure and mineral assemblages, three stage mineralizations can be recognized. Fluid inclusion, sulfur isotope and thermodynamic data show that the ore minerals were dominantly deposited at the between 388 and 204℃ from fluids with salinities of 8.1~0.3 wt.% equivalent NaCl, and sulfur isotope value 4.84 to 6.40 per mil of sulfides indicates igneous sources of sulfur in the hydrothermal system and fluid inclusion salinity data suggest that thermal fluids may have magmatic origin with some degree mixing of meteoric water.
