Phylogenetic analysis of the swine leukocyte antigen - 2 gene for Korean native pigs

The objective of this study was to investigate genetic relationships of the SLA-2 gene, to characterize SLA-2 alleles, and to provide basic genetic information of Korean pigs. The swine leukocyte antigen - 2 (SLA-2) gene in the MHC classical region was cloned with spleen tissues from Korean native pigs selected from the main land (KNP) and Jeju Island (KJP). Primer sequences based on swine cDNA (GenBank accession numbers AF464049 and AF464005) were used to amplify the entire SLA-2 gene, and the amplification product including both 3’ and 5’ UTRs was sized 1,520 bp. A BAC clone was selected from miniature pigs and sequenced for the genomic region of the SLA-2 gene showing that 4,585 bp in total length consisted of exons (1,087 bp) and introns (3,498 bp). A sequence analysis confirmed 58 SNPs in coding regions, which revealed higher numbers of SNPs in KNP than other pig breeds, implicating more genetic variability in Korean pigs. Approximately 82% of the SLA-2 SNPs were located in the highly polymorphic exons 2 and 3. Newly identified sequences of the SLA-2 gene for KNP and KJP were submitted into the IPD-MHC database with new nomenclatures (SLA-2*1501,SLA-2*1601, and SLA-2*w08hy01 allele), while the representative sequences of KNP and KJP were submitted into GenBank with accession numbers (DQ992495, DQ992496,and DQ992501), respectively. The identified KNP allele (SLA-2*1501) clustered with previously defined alleles for Korean pigs (SLA-2*kn02 and SLA-2*jh01), but SLA-2*1601(KNP) and SLA-2*w08hy01 (KJP) alleles showed no significant genetic relationships with any other allele. A sequence comparison revealed that KNP has departed from KJP both genetically and phenotypically. The results of SLA-2 SNP in KNP and KJP reported here will serve as the SLA-2 reference for Korean pigs.

도시 선거구에서 대규모 인구변동과 투표행태 변화: 부산지역 6.13 지방선거에서 대단지 아파트 효과를 중심으로

본 연구는 아파트라는 공동주택 거주에 따른 투표행태의 변화가 보수적 성향의 정당이나 후보자에 유리한지 아니면 진보적 성향의 정당이나 후보자에게 유리한 지 그 영향의 방향을 예측하는 데 연구의 초점을 둔다. 대단지 아파트 입주에 따른 선거구 자체의 인구학적 구성(demographic composition)의 변화가 해당 선거구의 선거 결과에 미치는 영향 여부 또한 본 연구의 주된 관심사의 하나이다. 분석 결과, 2018년 6월 13일에 실시한 제7회 전국동시지방선거에서 대단지 아파트 입주 및 아파트 거주 비율 증가에 따른 민주당 계열 후보와 정당의 득표율 상승을 확인할 수 있었다. 대단지 아파트의 입주 효과를 보다 구체적으로 살펴보면, 2010년 제5회 지방선거에서는 대단지 아파트 입주가 민주당 계열의 후보와 정당 득표율에 부정적인 영향을 미친 반면, 이후의 선거들에서는 모두 긍정적인 영향을 주었음을 확인할 수 있다. This study focuses on predicting the direction of the influence of the change of voting behavior according to apartment housing, whether it is favorable to conservative party or candidate or progressive party or candidate. The influence of the demographic composition of the constituency itself on the election results of the constituency according to the residence of the large apartment complex is also one of the main concerns of this study. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the Democratic Party candidates and party proportional vote rate increased according to the move-in of large apartment complexes in the 7th local election held on June 13, 2018, and also the increase in apartment residence rate was confirmed. In the 5th local election in 2010, the large apartment complex had a negative effect on the Democratic Party candidates and party votes, while it had a positive effect on the party vote rate.

Inhibitory Effects of <i>Chung Hun Wha Dam Tang</i> (CHWDT) on High-Fat Diet-Induced Obesity via AMP-Activated Protein Kinase Activation

<P>The <I>Chung Hun Wha Dam Tang</I> (CHWDT) herbal combination was reported to cease dizziness and phlegm. However, the effect of CHWDT in obesity has not yet been known mechanically. Therefore, we investigated whether this CHWDT could protect the cells from lipogenesis, gluconeogenesis, and inflammation in both in vivo and in vitro. CHWDT significantly decreased body weight, epididymal and perirenal fat content without affecting feed intake in high-fat diet-induced obese mice model. Additionally, CHWDT inhibited obesity-induced SREBP1, FAS, PGC1<I><I>α</I></I>, G6Pase, PEPCK and increased CPT1, ACO, and LCAD genes expression in vivo and in vitro. Proinflammatory cytokines like TNF-<I><I>α</I></I> and iNOS expression were reduced by CHWDT in both Raw264.7 macrophages and HepG2 cells. In addition, NO production was also significantly decreased by CHWDT in LPS-stimulated macrophages. Furthermore, AMPK<I><I>α</I></I> activation by CHWDT was involved in inhibition of obesity by reducing triglycerides production and increasing CPT1 expression. Based on all of the results, we suggest that CHWDT has inhibitory effects on obesity-induced lipogenesis, gluconeogenesis, and inflammation via AMPK<I><I>α</I></I> activation.</P>

여래장 개념의 성립과 사상의 구조 -인도불교 안에서

불성(佛性, buddhadhātu) 또는 여래장(如來藏, tathāgatagarbha) 사상은 그 사상의 독자성 에도 불구하고 인도불교의 맥락에서 독립된 학파로 간주되고 있지는 않다. 이는 아마도 ‘여래･불’ 또는 ‘여래･불이 되는 근거’에 대한 논의가 인도 대승불교의 모든 학파들이 공유할 수밖에 없는 보편적인 것이라는 점 그리고 특히 ‘여래･불’에 대한 긍정적 접근을 중심으로 하는 여래장･불성 사상이 부정적 논의를 중심으로 하는 주류불교와의 대립에서 점차 이면의 ‘방편설’로 포섭되어 갔던 점에 기인할 것이다. 이 글은 여래장･불성 사상 전반을 다루지 않는다. 단지 인도불교 안에서 ‘여래장’ ‘불 성’ 개념이 어떻게 출현하고 그 초기 이론이 어떠한 과정을 거쳐 확립되어 갔는가를 살펴보고자 한다. 그러기 위해 제Ⅰ장에서 ‘여래장’ ‘불성’ 개념이 처음 성립되어 가는 과정을 살펴본다. 이는 여래장･불성 사상의 원형archetype에 해당될 것이다. 우리는 여기 에서 여래장･불성 사상이 기본적으로 중생과 여래의 ‘동질성’을 기반으로 하고 있음을 발견한다. 그러나 여래장･불성 사상은 생사･윤회하는 존재로서의 실존 상황을 도외시 하지 않는다. 중생과 여래의 ‘이질성’에서 유래하는 문제로부터 도피하지 않는다는 것이다. 제Ⅱ장에서는 이와 같이 서로 대립되는 두 극을 포함한 사상체계가 어떻게 모습을 갖는가를 살펴본다. 그런데 한편으로 번뇌의 존재는 그 자체의 지양에 관한 논의를 수반하지 않을 수 없다. 비록 여래장･불성 사상이 상세한 수행론을 제시하지 않지만, 이른바 ‘수행무용론’(修行無用論)에 함몰되어 있는 것이 아니라면, 수행의 문제는 어떠한 방식으로든 제기되지 않을 수 없다. 제Ⅲ장은 이 수행의 문제와 관련하여, ‘시간’에 대한 여래장･불성 사상의 인식과 새롭게 적극적으로 도입된 ‘종성’ 개념이 그 단초를 마련하고 있음을 밝힌다. Even though the thought of Buddha-nature or Tathāgatagarbha has the peculiarity in the stream of Buddhism, it was not considered as an independent school especially in the history of Indian Buddhism. It may be because the characteristic of ‘Buddha/Tathāgata’ or the discussion on ‘the ground or the cause to become Buddha/Tathāgata’ is universal to be shared with all Buddhist schools. This essay does not aim to cover all the area of Tathāgatagarbha thought. It will only examine the situation when the concept of Tathāgatagarbha was arising and how it was established in the early stage. In Chapter I, the origin of the concept of Tathāgatagarbha or Buddhadhātu is discussed, and we can find here that these concepts were established on the ground of the identity between Buddha and the sentient beings. However, Tathāgatagarbha thought does not disregard the existential situation of the sentient beings who are living in the world of saṃsāra. In other words, it does not retreat from the problem of conflict which should be resulted from the heterogeneity between Buddha and the sentient beings. Chapter II discusses such a system of thought which contains at the same time two contradictory polarities. Meanwhile, the existence of the kleśas lead inevitably to the discussion on how to sublate those kleśas. To clarify this problem, C hapter III pays attention to the idea of time which was suggested in the early Tathāgatagarbha thought texts and to the concept of gotra which was introduced in the second stage of Tathāgatagarbha thought.

Improved thermal conductivity of carbon-based thermal interface materials by high-magnetic-field alignment

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Carbon-based fillers for thermal interface materials (TIMs) are attractive due to their advantages such as high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion, mechanical strength, flexibility, and low weight. In this work, we report a 330% enhancement of the through-plane thermal conductivity (<I>k</I> <SUB> <I>th</I> </SUB>) of a graphite-polymer composite TIM film by vertically aligning the graphite fillers with a 10 T superconducting magnet. The filler alignment is based on the large anisotropy in the magnetic susceptibility of graphite platelets. As the filler content increases from 10 to 60 wt%, the anisotropy of thermal conductivity (<I>k</I> <SUB> <I>th</I> </SUB>/<I>k</I> <SUB> <I>in</I> </SUB>) increases from 1.2 up to 2.3 for a perpendicular magnetic field alignment, whereas it remains the same for a parallel magnetic field alignment. The increased anisotropy is associated with better filler alignment at high filler loadings. This work provides a simple and effective solution to improve the physical properties of composite films by controlling their microstructure.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

로렌스의 여성관 변화양상

This paper is to study the changing aspects of D. H. Lawrence's view of woman by focusing on the contradictory relationship between the teller and the tale in The Rainbow, The Lost Girl, and Lady Chatterley's Lover. The teller resents female autonomy and strength, while the tale reveals woman's ability and determination to take an active part in changing the social conditions. It is remarkable that the tension between them is not consistent but changeable. In The Rainbow, the narrative tension between the teller and the tale is very strong, and the narrative dichotomy reveals two aspects: when Ursula's struggle for independence takes on socio-political characters, she is described as a desirable woman, while, when the objects of her struggle are of psychosexual characters, she is described as a negative woman like a harpy. In The Lost Girl, the narrator is ironic, and Alvina, unlike Ursula, gradually submits to Cicio. The tension considerably lessens as the story comes to the latter part. Finally, in Lady Chatterley's Lover, Connie submits to Mellors, so to speak, to his phallic power as Lawrence adopts the male-centered theory of femininity. In consequence, the tension lessens so remarkably that the tale is dominated by the teller. In conclusion, in The Rainbow Lawrence shows the quality of a pro-feminist. In the Lost Girl, he takes on an ambiguous attitude. At last, in Lady Chatterley's Lover he reveals the nature of an anti-feminist.
