      • Anti-Inflammatory and Cytoprotective Effects of TMC-256C1 from Marine-Derived Fungus <i>Aspergillus</i> sp. SF-6354 via up-Regulation of Heme Oxygenase-1 in Murine Hippocampal and Microglial Cell Lines

        <P>In the course of searching for bioactive secondary metabolites from marine fungi, TMC-256C1 was isolated from an ethyl acetate extract of the marine-derived fungus <I>Aspergillus</I> sp. SF6354. TMC-256C1 displayed anti-neuroinflammatory effect in BV2 microglial cells induced by lipopolysaccharides (LPS) as well as neuroprotective effect against glutamate-stimulated neurotoxicity in mouse hippocampal HT22 cells. TMC-256C1 was shown to develop a cellular resistance to oxidative damage caused by glutamate-induced cytotoxicity and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in HT22 cells, and suppress the inflammation process in LPS-stimulated BV2 cells. Furthermore, the neuroprotective and anti-neuroinflammatory activities of TMC-256C1 were associated with upregulated expression of heme oxygenase (HO)-1 and nuclear translocation of nuclear factor-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) in HT22 and BV2 cells. We also found that TMC-256C1 activated p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt signaling pathways in HT22 and BV2 cells. These results demonstrated that TMC-256C1 activates HO-1 protein expression, probably by increasing nuclear Nrf2 levels via the activation of the p38 MAPK and PI3K/Akt pathways.</P>

        Looking back upon the Saemaul Undong, even since it began in the year 1970, it has been developed more powerfully and accomplished community development with the slogan of diligence, self-help and cooperation. As the result, most villages have gotten the improvement of physical environment, income increasing and positive changes in the attitudes and values of inhabitants. However, in spite of the Saemaul Undong's achievements, the movement has been faced to many kind of problems about the middle of the time of 1980's. And so nowadays, Saemaul Undong is not get out of a swamp of stagnation. Of course, it cannot he denied that it has made much contribution to the community development, but it is confronted with many serious problems. The reasons for the decline of Saemaul Undong are mainly the corruption of the headquarters of Saemaul Undong, disordered society, disparity of strata, depersonalization, the lack of new methodologies in the pursuit of Saemaul Undong, and etc. Recognizing these problems and to cope with the newly emerzing situation, a need has arisen for a change in Saemaul Undong. Therefore, these paper aims at researching for a new methodologies and strategies to carry out Saemaul Undong's progams continuously, and intends to suggest a new direction of sustaining Saemaul Undong. For the Purposes of suggesting altternatives continuously sustaining Saemaul Undong, this paper intends to formulate the principles and new directions of Saemaul Undong as follows : (1) The objectives and methodologies of Saemaul Undong should be reorganized in the context of new emerging situations. (2) Revitalizing local towns and rural areas must be pursued with special reference with hometown development. For the purpose, it is proper to organize a society for the support of hometown, and to invest money and resources in trying to help it. (3) In the spiritual aspect, it is desirable that the spirits of Saemaul Undong : diligence, self-help and cooperation should be expanded into a public interest and self-governing. (4) To induce residents to take part in and support Saemaul Undong, Noluntary Systems are formulated for securing public interest and a cultivation of personality. (5) A public movement creating a new nation, to meet a new twenty-frist centry, should be pushed ahead with a nation-wide development. (6) In a dimension of province level Saemaul Undong, the local branch of the headquarters of Saemaul Undong must take the initiative in doing Saemaul projects, and residents show their ability to carry out Saemaul Undong.

      • 새마을廣域圈 開發政策의 方向設定에 關한 硏究 : 廣域圈의 槪念, 圈域設定 및 方向設定

        During last two decades, the policies and strategies of regional development has changed gradually in accordance with the shift of the economic and social environment which is mainly distinguished by economic growth, and enlargement and differentiation of the social structure in Korea. Most of all, the first decade was marked by economic rationalism based on efficiency strategies and quatitative growth, but the second decade conducted the pursuit of socio-economic balance of the spatial development in the regional dimension as well as in the national based on equity. And so it may be recognized that recently the trends and strategies of regional development have directed to equity-oriented development policies. In this context, the Saemaul Movement must be understood as an equity-oriented micro regional development to accomplish self-reliance for an integrated rural development in village unit level. Looking back upon the Saemaul Movement, even since it began in the year 1970, it has been developed more powerfully with the slogan of diligence, self-reliance and cooperation throughout the country, and the objectives of the movement: improved life environment, provision of community facilities, increased income and changes in the attitudes and values of inhabitants resulting from their participation and cooperation in village-level developing projects, have been almost achieved. However, since the beginning of 1980's, the Saemaul Movement has been under the necessity of establishing a new development policy for area-wide development because the basic objectives of village-level have been approximately accomplished and then it is necessary to pursue area-wide projects in need of scale-economics in village group level. That is to say, in the period of 1980's the policies and strategies of Saemaul Movement have been toward a cooperative development between villages, an area-wide development, apart from village unit development, which is called now "Saemaul Kwang Yeok Kwon" in Korean word. As stated above, the trend of regional development is toward the necessity of area-wide development in Saemaul Movement with special reference to micro-level regional development. However, the meaning, rolls and guidelines of it are not defined exactly. And so, this paper is intended to define the meaning of area-wide development in Saemaul Movement (Saemaul Kwang Seok Kwon), to define the roll and basic guidelines for development policy for it and to delineate the boundaries of it. Area-wide Development in Saemaul Movement is hard to define but generally speaking, it may be said that its meaning is the developing of a group of villages composed of 5-10 village units communally with express purpose of working jointly and constructing the integrated settlement area. In developing the, area-wide development in Saemaul Movement successfully, first of all, it is especially desirable that it has proper boundary in accordance with homogeneous characteristics and functional interaction between village units. And then it is necsssary to establish the basic principles for its development in detail. Briefly speaking the main emphasis of the development policy of area-wide development in this paper is given to the following. Firstly, systematizing hierarchical structure of micro-level regional development with special reference to the spatial arrangement of village unit, area-wide development in Saemaul Movement, Eup, Myon integrated settlement area and Gun(county) integrated settlement area. Secondly, establishing the integrated rural development and providing the communal facilities based on village group, especially placing the focus on basic need approach. Thirdly, Inducing the evolutional change of village cooperative scheme (VCS) into area-wide development. Fourthly, promoting inhabitants participation in public developing projects and enhancing the autonomous management of area-wide development in Saemaul Movement based on communal cooperative consciousness.

      • 비만학생들의 운동후 회복시 초과 산소소비량 및 지속시간에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of two different intensity of continuous exercise on magnitude of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption(EPOC), energy consumption following a 20min treadmill exercise. The subjects of this study were eight super-obesity in middle school students who were above 13 years old. subjects participated in two different exercise intensity to measure respiratory gas, blood lactate concentration and eardrum temperature. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The Energy consumption of the high intensity (80% VO₂ max) exercise group (264.68 35.60cal) was greater than that of the low intensity (50%) exercise group(172.01 20.39 Cal)(p<.001). 2. The EPOC of the high intensity exercise group (22.36+ 6.82Cal ) was greater than that of the low intensity exercise group(15.39+5.27 Cal)(p<.001). 3. The EPOC duration of th high intensity exercise group(28.36=3.56min) was longer than that of the low intensity exercise group(17.23+1.25min)(p<.001) 4. The blood lactate concentration, respiratory exchange ratio and temperature of the high intensity exercise group were greater than those of the low intensity exercise group(p<.05,p<.01). EPOC and duration were increase with 80%VO₂max, 80% VO₂max as intensity exercise got higher this also showed that it had something to do with lactate concentration in blood and increase of body temperature in the conclusion. We considered that there was a difference in using methods of energy, as there was a similar difference in RER. We though this following with oxygen consumption after exercise, we could clarify that high intensity exercise was better than lower intensity exercise in sametime for those who are obese especially adolescents to maintain their weights on the aspect of effect.

      • 목화생육형질의 잡종강세효과

        1997년 4월부터 12월까지 진주산업대학교 학생실습포장에서 목화 0개 품종을 이면교배하여 얻은 F_1, F_2 45개 조합을 재료로 생육형질의 교배집단에 따른 잡종강세정도를 산출한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 개화일수에서 F_1은 5.12%, F2세대에서는 0.67%, 개면일수에서는 F_1은 0.29%로 강세를 보였으나, F_2에서는 -0.43%로 낮았으며, 개화수는 F_1은 -1.64% F_2는 -0.98%로 부의 강세를 나타냈다. 2. 초장의 F_1은 1.58%, F_2세대에는 5.12%, 절간장에서는 F_1은 10.14%, F_2세대에서는 3.05%의 강세를 보였으나, 결과지수에서는 F_1은 -0.69%, F_2세대에서는 2.22%로 상반된 강세를 나타내었으며, 경직경은 F_1은 3.39%, F_2세대에서는 2.28%로 높은 강세를 보였다. 3. 삭장에서는 F_1은 1.15%, F_2세대에서는 1.96%로 유의한 강세를 보였으며, 삭폭의 F_1은 1.3%, F_2에서는 -2.00%로 상반된 강세를 보였다. 4. 주당전경중에서는 F_1은 -0.50%, F_에서는 -1.13%, 주당근중의 F_1은 -2.53%, F_에서는 -6.76%로 부의 유사한 강세를 나타내었다. For this study, 45 combinations of F1 and F2 generations were bred from 10 varieties of cotton through diallel cross during the period from April to December, 1997. The heterosis effects were analyzed with the following results: 1. Days to flowering showed 5.12% heterosis in F1 generation, and 0.67% in F2; days to maturity, 0.29% in F1, but -043% in F2; number of flowerings per plant, -1.64% in F1 and -0.98% in F2. 2. Plant height showed 1.58% heterosis in F1 and 5.12% in F2; internode length, 10.14% in F1 and 3.05% in F2; number of fruiting branches, -0.69% in F1, but 2.22% in F2; stalk diameter, 3.39% in F1 and 2.28% in F2. 3. Boll length showed 1.15% heterosis in F1 and 1.96% in F2; boll width, 1.3% in F1, but -2.00% in F2. 4. Total weight per plant showed -0.50% heterosis in F1 and -1.13% in F2; root weight per plant, -2.53% in F1 and -6.76% in F2.

      • 승강대 운동이 비만고등학생의 혈청 지질 및 아포지단백 대사에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 12 wks before and after step test of obsese student in D high school in Pusan city, exercise group(7) performed 12 wks step test and control group(7), before and after subjects performed the maximal exercise thest on treadmile's 12 wks step test. Through the comparision and analysis of change serum lipids and apolipoprotein metabolism, the results of this study were as follows. 1.In 12 wks before and after step test at the rest time, exercise group was found to have a increase In TC(12.7%), TG(9.76%), LDL-C(13.8%) and to have a significant increase in HDL-C(11.3%), FFA(96.8%). 2.At the rest, the control group was found to have a little increase in TG(9.2%) and HDL-C(6.7%), and to have a significant increase in TC(9.2%), LDL-C(8.9%) and FFA(7.5%). 3.In 12 wks before and after step test at the maximal exercise, the exercise group was found to have a significant increase in TC(5.6%), HDL-C(20.2%) and FFA(54.3). 4.At the maximal exercise, were found to have a significant increase in TC(9.7%) and LDL-C(9.9%) in the control group. 5.In 12 wks before and after step test at the maximal exercise, the exercise group was found to have a significant increase in Apo A-I(8.0%). 6.Statistically, At the maximal exercise, were found to have a significant increase in Apo B(7.8%).

      • 지역개발의 입장에서 본 새마을운동의 재조명

        Korea has experienced the rapid economic growth, which greatly changed our way of life, since the early nineteen sixties. By the extraordinary pace of urbanization and industrialization were accompanied the emergence of regional disparity in income and the relative low level of quality of life in the rural region. Two principal activities were implemented to cope with these problems; one was the regional development which began in 1964, the other was the Saemaul Undong which was launched in 1970. The regional development and the Saemaul Undong have been implemented independently without mutual coordination although they have similar objectives, similar projects and usable resources. This phenomenon has resulted in the dichotomy of institution and organization which has diminished the effects of the regional development and Saemaul Undong. To maximize the effects of the development is it necessary to integrate the Saemaul Undong with the regional development. The purpose of this article, therefore, is to establish the relationships clearly, which have been obscure, between the regional development and Saemaul Uudong.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 12 wks before and after running exercise of obsese student in D high school in Pusan city, exercise group(7) performed 12 wks running exercise and control group(7),before and after subjects performed the maximal exercise thest on treadmile's 12 wks running exercise. Through the comparision and analysis of change serum lipids and apoliporotein metabolism, the results of this study were as follows. 1. In 12 wks before and agter running exercise at the rest time,exercise group was found to have a great decrease in TC(8%),TG(29%),LDL-C(7%) and to have a significant in crease in HDL-C(20%),FFA(74%). 2. At the rest, the control group was found to have a little decrease in TG, HDL-C,LDL-C and to have little changes in TC and FFA. 3. In 12wks before and after running exercise at the maximal exercise, the exercise group was found to have a significant decrease in TC(18%),TG(23) and to have a significant in crease in HDL-C(20%),LDL-(25%),FFA(23%) and TG and HDL-C were found to have a significant change. 4. At the maximal exerxcise , were found to have little change in the control group. 5. Apo A-I in the exercise group was found not to have the change signicantly. but to have anincrease 5% at the rest time, 6% at the maximal exercise. And the control group was almost found not to have change. 6. Statically, Apo B in the exercise group was found not to have a signficant change, but to have the increase 12%at the maximal exercise and the control group was found not to have a change.

        The purpose of study was to investigate the effect of 12wks before and after running exercise of obsese in D high school in Pusan city, exercise group(7) performed 12wks running exercise and control group(7), before and after subjects performed the maximal exercise test on treadmill's 12wks running exercise. Through the comparision and analysis of change respiro-circulatory and serum lipids the results of this study were as follows. 1. In 12wks before and after running exercise, physique and body composition of exercise group was found to have a great decrease in %Fat(6%), Fat(kg)(6%), Triceps(7%) and to have a significant in crease in %LBM(6%). 2. Respiro-circulatory Capacity of exorcise group at the maximal exercise, was found to have a great decrese in VE(5%), RR(8%), RQ(5%). 3. In 12wks before and after running exercise at rest time, in seam lipids of exercise group was found to have a great decrease in TC(8%), TG(29%), LDL-C(7%) and to have a significant in crease in HDL-C(20%), FFA(74%). 4. At rest time, the control group was found to have a little decrease in TG, HDL-C, LDL-C and to have little change in TC and FFA. 5. In 12wks before and after running exercise at the maximal exercise, in serum lipids of the exercise group was found to have significant decrease in TC(18%), TG(23%) and to have a significant in crease in HDL-C(20%), LDL-C(25%), FFA(23%) and TG and HDL-C were found to have a significant change. 6. At maximal exercise, was found to have little change in the control group.
