Aims: An alternative technique in endoscopic sphincteroplasty is using a large CRE wireguided balloon dilatation as an adjunct to endoscopic sphincterotomy in removing common bile duct (CBD) stone. However, there are few evidence demonstrating the outcomes and complication using CRE balloon dilatation sphincteroplasty during acute phase of cholangitis. This study aims to reveal the outcome of the technique from a single hospital experience. Methods: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted at the Endoscopy Center of Yan Chai Hospital over a period of 2 years from January 2018 to December 2019. A total of 45 cases was identified where patients, presented with acute cholangitis, had endoscopic papillary balloon dilatation with CRE wireguided balloon during the index admission. Acute cholangitis was defined according to “Tokyo Classication - Cholangitis” (guidelines). Cases with concomitant malignancy and obstruction causes other than common bile duct stones were excluded. The stone clearance rates as defined with occlusive cholangiogram and post ERCP complications were analyzed. Results: There were 14 (31%) male and 31 (69%) females. Age of the study population ranged from 36-95 years. Stone clearance proven by occlusive cholangiogram in first session was achieved 29/45 (64%) cases. For complication, 6 (13%) cases developed mild papillary bleeding and 3/42 (7%) cases mild pancreatitis. No septic shock was documented. Conclusions: Endoscopic sphincteroplasty using CRE Wireguided balloon dilatation as an adjunct to endoscopic sphincterotomy is a safe and effective technique for CBD stone removal during acute cholangitis. This procedure can potentially avoid further attempt of ERCP for residual CBD stones.
An Unusual Cause of Hemoptysis: Congenital Absence of the Right Pulmonary Artery in a Young Male
Chan Victor Siang Hua,Ma Wai Han,Ho Wai Yin,Chan Carmen Wing Sze,Cheung Stephen Chi Wai,Lam Wendy Wai Man 아시아심장혈관영상의학회 2019 Cardiovascular Imaging Asia Vol.3 No.1
Unilateral absent pulmonary artery (UAPA) is rare and can occur in association with cardiovascular anomalies or in isolation. Herein, we describe a case of isolated UAPA in a 14-yearold male patient who presented with hemoptysis secondary to abnormal hypertrophy of collateral vasculature. The patient was successfully treated by endovascular embolization with polyvinyl alcohol particles.

Purpose This study retrospectively reviews the characteristic bone scintigraphic findings in 18 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) following treatment with high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). A potential complication of HIFU is damage to the tissues along the path of the ultrasound beam and structures superficial to the lesion of interest. Methods Patientswith hepatocellular carcinomawho underwent a bone scan between 1st December 2005 and 31st December 2011 were considered for this study. Among these patients, only those who had bone scans after the HIFU treatment were included. The time between HIFU treatment and bone scans, HIFU energy, HCC sites, tumour sizes and related radiological findings were evaluated. Results In total, 20 bone scans of 18 patients were reviewed. Of these scans, two patients were normal; three patients showed decreased uptake, four patients showed increased uptake and nine patients showed mixed uptakes of the bony tracer in their rib cages. The defects were located in the anterior, lateral, anterolateral or posterolateral aspects of the rib cage. The majority of those cold defects were in the right anterior rib cages. SPECT/CT was used to localise the decreased uptake in ribs. The magnetic resonance imaging in individual patients invariably showed ill-defined rimenhancement along the right chest wall, signifying chest wall injury. Conclusions The results showed that tissue ablation using HIFU caused tissue injury along the pathway of highintensity ultrasound beams. The harm to tissues is presented as photopenic area on the rib cages due to necrosis or hot spots due to rib fractures in the bone scan. Since these cold defects are subtle, they are easily overlooked or mistaken as aggressive bony metastasis.

In these recent years, low cost and stable battery electrode materials have been studied for HV/HEV application. Spinel cathode material LiMn₂O₄ is widely studied as a promising cathode material of lithium ion secondary batteries because of it is low cost, easily to be prepared and capable to be operated in high voltage range. In this study, LiMn₂O₄ was undergoing surface modification with spinel lithium titanium oxide by sol-gel method in order to enhance its capacity retention. Properties of both unmodified and surface-modified LiMn₂O₄ were characterized by XRD, SEM, particle size analyzer while their cycling performance was tested with charge and discharge tester.

Background: Malnutrition is a common and modifiable risk factor for postoperative complications and adverse outcomes in orthopedics. The purpose of this study was to identify biomarkers of malnutrition in patients undergoing elective total knee arthroplasty (TKA) that are predictive of adverse in-hospital postoperative complications, to facilitate the identification of at-risk patients for nutritional optimization before surgery. Methods: A total of 624 patients who underwent elective TKA between 2013 and 2017 were evaluated; potential biomarkers of preoperative malnutrition, including hypoalbuminemia (serum albumin < 3.5 g/dL), total lymphocyte count (TLC < 1500 cells/mm3), and body mass index (BMI), were assessed for any association with in-hospital postoperative complications. Results: The prevalence of hypoalbuminemia, low TLC, overweight, obesity class I, and obesity class II were, respectively 2.72%, 33.4%, 14.8%, 44.5%, and 26.9%. There was a significant association between hypoalbuminemia and obesity class II (BMI ≥ 30.0 kg/m2) with rates of peri-prosthetic joint infection, and no significant association between such complications and low TLC, overweight, or obesity class I. Logistic regression analysis showed that patients with hypoalbuminemia or being in obesity class II with gouty arthritis were more likely to suffer from periprosthetic joint infection. Conclusions: Hypoalbuminemia and obesity class II together is a reliable biomarker of preoperative malnutrition for predicting peri-prosthetic joint infection after elective TKA, whereas low TLC, overweight, and obesity class I were not significantly associated with an increased risk of such complications.
