Study Design: This study adopted a retrospective cohort study design.Purpose: This study aimed to clarify the influence of diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis (DISH) on bone fusion after transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF).Overview of Literature: The negative effects of DISH on lumbar degenerative diseases have been reported, and DISH may be involved in the onset and severity of lumbar spinal canal stenosis. Patients with DISH have significantly more reoperations after posterior lumbar fusion, including TLIF. However, the effects of DISH on bone fusion after TLIF have not been reported.Methods: The medical records of patients with intervertebral TLIF from 2012 to 2018 were retrospectively examined. The patients were divided into those with fusion and those with pseudoarthrosis, and the following data were compared: age, sex, DISH, diabetes mellitus, smoking, drinking, albumin levels, body mass index ≥30 kg/m<sup>2</sup>, and L5/S fixation. Statistical analyses were performed using regression models.Results: In this study, 180 patients (78.6%) had fusion and 49 patients (21.4%) had pseudoarthrosis. The number of patients with DISH was significantly higher in the pseudoarthrosis group than in the fusion group (36.7% and 21.7%, respectively; univariate <i>p</i>=0.031, multivariate p =0.019). No significant differences in age, sex, diabetes mellitus, smoking, drinking, albumin levels, body mass index ≥30 kg/m<sup>2</sup>, and L5/S fixation were observed between the two groups. The risk factors for bone fusion were statistically analyzed in 57 patients with DISH. DISH with a caudal end below Th11 was an independent risk factor for pseudoarthrosis (univariate <i>p</i>=0.011, multivariate <i>p</i>=0.033).Conclusions: DISH is an independent risk factor for pseudoarthrosis after one intervertebral TLIF, and DISH with a caudal end below Th11 is associated with a higher risk of pseudoarthrosis than DISH without a caudal end below Th11.

Cryptomeria japonica plantation was monitored every year during 15 years from 1983 to 1997 for stem diameter and volume. The reciprocal equation, 1Y= A + BN , was applied to the relationship between cumulative volume Y and cumulative number N from the largest tree in the stand each year. The parameters A and B, which means respectively the reciprocal of an asymptotic value of total stand stem volume and the reciprocal of the maximum stem volume, are related by a power function. The power functional relationship between A and B derived a linear relationship of B-points (NB, YB; NB = BA, YB = 1 2A) of each Y-N curve on log-log coordinates. The gradient of B-point line was so steep that the Y-N curve moved parallel upward year by year. The time trajectory of mean stem volume (‾w ) and density (ρ) provided evidence in favor of the 3/2 power law of self-thinning, because the gradient of ‾w -ρ trajectory on log-log coordinates approximated to -3/2 at the final stage of stand development. On the basis of the results of Y-N curves and ‾w -ρ trajectory, the time trajectory of maximum stem volume wmaxobs and ρ was derived theoretically. The gradient of wmax obs - ρ trajectory on log-log coordinates is calculated to be -0.6105 at the final stage. The gradient of wmax obs - ρ trajectory was steeper than that of ‾w -ρ trajectory at the early stage, while the former is gentler than the latter at the later stage.

It is great concern that is environmental load in manufacturing. In machining site, metal working fluid (coolant) such as cutting oil,grinding fluid is used. It contains several chemicals that are oil, surface active agent, extreme pressure additive, antirust agent,antifoaming agent, preservative, biocide etc.. It is thought that it is not good for environment and human body. Machining fluid mist and splash contained several chemicals that are cause of danger for worker’s health while machining. Furthermore, time elapses, fluid is rotten by bacteria. Bad smell and degradation of machining performance occurs. Therefore, after using machining fluid, waste fluid is disposed. Incineration or coagulative precipitation and landfill etc. are necessary. It arise great disposal cost and environmental load as discharging of huge amount green house gas (CO2 etc.). Then, machining fluid decreasing or non-using is demanded in industry. So, in this investigation, new environmental machining method: the electric rust preventive machining method system that uses only water as machining fluid has been developed. In this paper, water purification recycle system in water machining system development is mentioned. Therefore, complete removal of bacteria (Enterobacter aerogenes) without using chemicals such as biocide is examined for corruption, malodor prevention and safe machining water.

Ga-doped zinc-oxide (GZO) films grown at various Ga/Zn supply ratios were prepared on glass substrates by using plasma-assisted molecular beam deposition. The films were carefully characterized by using Hall, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements. At low Ga/Zn supply ratios, the carrier density systematically increased with increasing Ga/Zn supply ratio. However, a saturation of the carrier density near 4 − 6 × 1020 cm−3 was observed when the Ga/Zn supply ratio was in the range from 5 × 10−5 % to 0.5 %. From TEM observations, uniform crystal grains were observed to grow with low-angle tilt grain boundaries in GZO films with low doping. On the other hand, high-angle tilt grain boundaries were observed in the highly-doped GZO films. A detailed selected area electron diffraction (SAED) analysis revealed that such non-uniformity in the highly-doped GZO films appears during the initial growth stage.
