Oral cavity: An open horizon for nanopharmaceuticals

Nguyen Oanh Oanh Thi,Tran Khue Dan,Ha Nhan Thi,Doan Sang Minh,Dinh Thi Thanh Hai,Tran Tuan Hiep 한국약제학회 2021 Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation Vol.51 No.4

Background Oral administration is the primary route employed for drug delivery. In addition to the gastrointestinal tract, the oral cavity has been drawing considerable attention owing to its physiological properties and advances in drug carrier development. Notably, nanotechnology has made immense contributions to enhancing drug bioavailability, stability, and efficacy, both in research and clinical settings. Area covered The present review comprises lessons from physiological characteristics to fundamental material science knowledge, summarizing the pros and cons of nanotechnology applications in therapeutic drug delivery. The oral cavity presents inherent challenges, including oral cancer, dental caries, oral infection, or oral inflammation, that necessitate local solutions. Simultaneously, the vascular system under the tongue and in the buccal region offers a portal for systemic drug absorption. Expert opinion Among available delivery systems, nanoparticle-based drug delivery, with the oral cavity as the action or absorption site, can be developed as a principal dosage formulation. Although convenience and fast onset might be advantageous, additional studies are warranted for preclinical characterization, especially in animal models, and for determining manufacturing competence, prior to human trials to meet standards in clinical settings.

      • A Hybrid Method Based on Genetic Algorithm and Ant Colony System for Traffic Routing Optimization

Thi-Hau Nguyen,Ha-Nam Nguyen,Dang-Nhac Lu,Duc-Nhan Nguyen International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2023 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.23 No.8

The Ant Colony System (ACS) is a variant of Ant colony optimization algorithm which is well-known in Traveling Salesman Problem. This paper proposed a hybrid method based on genetic algorithm (GA) and ant colony system (ACS), called GACS, to solve traffic routing problem. In the GACS, we use genetic algorithm to optimize the ACS parameters that aims to attain the shortest trips and time through new functions to help the ants to update global and local pheromones. Our experiments are performed by the GACS framework which is developed from VANETsim with the ability of real map loading from open street map project, and updating traffic light in real-time. The obtained results show that our framework acquired higher performance than A-Star and classical ACS algorithms in terms of length of the best global tour and the time for trip.

Adaptive Control for Uncertain Model of Omni-directional Mobile Robot Based on Radial Basis Function Neural Network

Duyen Ha Thi Kim,Tien Ngo Manh,Cuong Nguyen Manh,Nhan Duc Nguyen,Dung Pham Tien,Manh Tran Van,Minh Phan Xuan 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2021 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.19 No.4

The paper proposes the method to deal with control problems of unmodeled components of the fourwheeled Omni-directional mobile robot. It is commonly challenging to design a model-based control scheme to achieve smooth movement in the tracking process due to the unknown elements in the mathematical model of the robot or external disturbances. Our main contribution focuses on designing an adaptive controller based on neural networks with online weight updating laws and Fuzzy logic to guarantee the high accuracy of the robot’s movement when the unknown factors adversely affect the robot control. At the initial step, a Dynamic Surface Control plays a role as a core of the controller for the robot system. Then, with the ability to estimate the appropriate value for uncertain nonlinear parts, a Radial Basis Function Neural Network is designed. Finally, a Fuzzy law is to utilize control parameters in each period to increase the adaptive behavior of the system. The stability and convergence of the system are proven by the Lyapunov’s stability theory. The simulation results illustrate the validity and the efficiency of the proposed control algorithm when the system is lack of robot model’s information.

Dual-Phase Approach to Improve Prediction of Heart Disease in Mobile Environment

        이양구,Thi Hong Nhan Vu,Thanh Ha Le 한국전자통신연구원 2015 ETRI Journal Vol.37 No.2

In this paper, we propose a dual-phase approach to improve the process of heart disease prediction in a mobile environment. Firstly, only the confident frequent rules are extracted from a patient’s clinical information. These are then used to foretell the possibility of the presence of heart disease. However, in some cases, subjects cannot describe exactly what has happened to them or they may have a silent disease — in which case it won’t be possible to detect any symptoms at this stage. To address these problems, data records collected over a long period of time of a patient’s heart rate variability (HRV) are used to predict whether the patient is suffering from heart disease. By analyzing HRV patterns, doctors can determine whether a patient is suffering from heart disease. The task of collecting HRV patterns is done by an online artificial neural network, which as well as learning knew knowledge, is able to store and preserve all previously learned knowledge. An experiment is conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed heart disease prediction process under different settings. The results show that the process’s performance outperforms existing techniques such as that of the self-organizing map and gas neural growing in terms of classification and diagnostic accuracy, and network structure.

Talent Conceptualization and Talent Management Approaches in the Vietnamese Banking Sector

DANG, Nhan Truong Thanh,NGUYEN, Quynh Thi,HABARADAS, Raymund,HA, Van Dung,NGUYEN, Van Thuy Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.7

The research postulates the conceptualization of talent in the Vietnamese banking sector via examining the factors pertaining to the concept of talent and talent management (TM) in the sector. This study applied qualitative research methods. A total of 20 managers and directors of ten banks (three public, four private and three foreign banks) were recruited for semi-structured interviews. The findings revealed that a combination of interconnected soft skills, learning ability, flexibility, technology adaptability, integrity and risk management skills contributes to talent identification. Managers in some private banks construed talent to be commensurate with high performance and high potential, whereas managers in public banks and foreign banks mainly relied on performance results in talent recognition. Moreover, talented employees holding sales-related jobs are given the most attention by management in the studied banks. Regarding practical implications, the banking community and practitioners' focus should be imparted to soft skills development and integrity control in order to foster employee performance and attitudes. Attention should be paid not only to sales positions, but also to other positions within the bank. This study is one of a few which explores talent concepts and TM approaches in the banking sector in general and Vietnamese banking field in particular.

Detecting user status from smartphone sensor data

        Thu-Trang Nguyen,Thi-Hau Nguyen,Ha-Nam Nguyen,Duc-Nhan Nguyen,GyooSeok Choi 국제문화기술진흥원 2016 International Journal of Advanced Culture Technolo Vol.4 No.1

Due to the high increment in usage and built-in advanced technology of smartphones, human activity recognition relying on smartphone sensor data has become a focused research area. In order to reduce noise of collected data, most of previous studies assume that smartphones are fixed at certain positions. This strategy is impractical for real life applications. To overcome this issue, we here investigate a framework that allows detecting the status of a traveller as idle or moving regardless the position and the direction of smartphones. The application of our work is to estimate the total energy consumption of a traveller during a trip. A number of experiments have been carried out to show the effectiveness of our framework when travellers are not only walking but also using primitive vehicles like motorbikes.

Orodispersible film incorporating nanoparticulate loratadine for an enhanced oral bioavailability

Van Nguyen Khanh,Dang Thu Kim,Vu Linh Thi Dieu,Ha Nhan Thi,Truong Hieu Duy,Tran Tuan Hiep 한국약제학회 2023 Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation Vol.53 No.3

Purpose Loratadine (LOR), a commonly prescribed antihistamine, has low water solubility but high permeability. In this study, an orodispersible film incorporating the nanoparticulate loratadine was prepared to enhance the oral bioavailability of a poorly water-soluble drug. Methods Nanoparticulate loratadine was formulated using the antisolvent precipitation method and optimized by a singlefactor design based on the particle size and polydispersity index. The optimal formulation was spray-dried and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry. Nanoparticulate loratadine was loaded into an orodispersible film using a solvent casting method. Results In the dissolution tests, the nanoparticulate loratadine-loaded orodispersible film exhibited a 6.5-fold higher dissolution rate than the pure loratadine-loaded film and a similar dissolution rate compared to the commercialized orodispersible tablet, Loratadine SPM. In pharmacokinetic studies conducted on rats, the maximum concentration (Cmax) and area under the curve of the plasma concentration–time profile from 0 to 24 h (AUC 0-24 h) of the nanoparticulate loratadine-loaded orodispersible film significantly increased 1.8-fold and 5.8-fold, respectively. The elimination half-life (t1//2) increased 5.1-fold compared to the loratadine-loaded counterpart. Conclusion These results suggest the potential of orodispersible films to improve the oral bioavailability of poorly watersoluble drugs and promote compliance in pediatric and geriatric patients.

Control of morphology and Orientation of Electrochemically Grown ZnO Nanorods

Tran Hoang Cao Son,Le Khac Top,Nguyen Thi Dong Tri,Ha Thuc Chi Nhan,Lam Quang Vinh,Bach Thang Phan,김상섭,Le Van Hieu 대한금속·재료학회 2014 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.20 No.2

We report the direct electrochemical deposition of ZnO nanorods on an indium tin oxide substrate. Themorphology and orientation of the grown ZnO nanorods were investigated as functions of the currentdensity. It is likely that the concentrations of OH- and Zn2+ ions, which could be controlled by varying thecurrent density, determine the shape and alignment of the ZnO nanorods. The nanorods were tilted, hexagonal, and prismatic at a low current density (0.1 mA/cm2) and vertically aligned and obelisk-shaped at highcurrent densities (greater than 0.6 mA/cm2). By using the low and high current densities sequentially in atwo-step growth process, vertically aligned, hexagonal, and prismatic ZnO nanorods could be grownsuccessfully. The underlying mechanism responsible for the growth of the ZnO nanorods is also discussed.
