Propagation Properties of Electromagnetic Multi-Gaussian Schell Model Beams Propagating Through Atmospheric Turbulence

        Guohua Wu,He Zhou,Tonggang Zhao,Hongzhan Liu,Zhengda Li,Xin Zhao 한국물리학회 2014 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.64 No.6

A model for electromagnetic multi-Gaussian Schell-model beams is introduced. An analyticalexpression for the cross-spectral density matrix of electromagnetic multi-Gausssian Schell-model(EMGSM) beams propagating through non-Kolmogorov turbulence is derived based on the extendedHuygens-Fresnel principle. With help of this expression, the average intensity, degree of coherence(DOC) and degree of polarization (DOP) of EMGSM beams are investigated in detail. Our resultsshow that by suitable choices of the source parameters, the distance that preserve a flat profile canbe prolonged. The effects of M and exponent value on DOC and DOP of EMGSM beams arestudied in detail.

Uncertainty analysis of containment dose rate for core damage assessment in nuclear power plants

        Guohua Wu,Jiejuan Tong,Yan Gao,Liguo Zhang,Yunfei Zhao 한국원자력학회 2018 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.50 No.5

One of the most widely used methods to estimate core damage during a nuclear power plant accident iscontainment radiation measurement. The evolution of severe accidents is extremely complex, leading touncertainty in the containment dose rate (CDR). Therefore, it is difficult to accurately determine coredamage. This study proposes to conduct uncertainty analysis of CDR for core damage assessment. First, based on source term estimation, the Monte Carlo (MC) and point-kernel integration methods were usedto estimate the probability density function of the CDR under different extents of core damage in accidentscenarios with late containment failure. Second, the results were verified by comparing the resultsof both methods. The point-kernel integration method results were more dispersed than the MC results, and the MC method was used for both quantitative and qualitative analyses. Quantitative analysisindicated a linear relationship, rather than the expected proportional relationship, between the CDR andcore damage fraction. The CDR distribution obeyed a logarithmic normal distribution in accidents with asmall break in containment, but not in accidents with a large break in containment. A possible applicationof our analysis is a real-time core damage estimation program based on the CDR

      • A Fingerprint Feature Extraction Algorithm based on Optimal Decision for Text Copy Detection

Guohua Wu,Mengmeng Zhao,Lin Han,Sen Li 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.10 No.11

Fingerprint feature-based text copy detection can rapidly identify the plagiarism, but suffers from the excessive fingerprint density. To resolve the problem, we propose a fingerprint feature extraction algorithm based on the optimal decision, combined with Winnowing algorithm and optimal decision model, and it can extract fingerprint feature from the hash values in the sliding window. The experimental results demonstrate that our algorithm can reduce the fingerprint density when the windows’ fingerprint feature is too adjacent, and the selected fingerprints can represent the text feature on the premise of the accuracy of the text copy and the algorithm.

Thermal Conductive Epoxy Enhanced by Nanodiamond-Coated Carbon Nanotubes

        Bo Zhao,Guohua Jiang 대한금속·재료학회 2017 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.13 No.6

Nanodiamond (ND) particles were coated on the surface of carbonnanotubes (CNTs) by chemical reactions. Reliable bonding wasformed by the combination of acyl chloride on NDs and amine groupon CNTs. ND coated CNTs (CNT-ND) were dispersed into epoxy tofabricate thermal conductive resins. The results show that the surfaceenergy of CNTs is decreased by the coated NDs, which is contributedto the excellent dispersion of CNT-NDs in the epoxy matrix. Theheat-transfer channels were built by the venous CNTs cooperatingwith the coated NDs, which not only plays an effective role of heatconduction for CNTs and NDs, but also avoids the electrical leakageby the protection of NDs surrounding outside of CNTs. Electrical andthermal conductance measurements demonstrate that the influence ofthe CNT-ND incorporation on the electrical conductance is minor, however, the thermal conductivity is improved significantly for theepoxy filled with CNT-ND.

Herbal medicine and gut microbiota: exploring untapped therapeutic potential in neurodegenerative disease management

        Yueyue Guan,Guohua Tang,Lei Li,Jianzhong Shu,Yuhua Zhao,Li Huang,Jun Tang 대한약학회 2024 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.47 No.2

The gut microbiota that exists in the human gastrointestinal tract is incredibly important for the maintenance of general healthas it contributes to multiple aspects of host physiology. Recent research has revealed a dynamic connection between the gutmicrobiota and the central nervous system, that can infl uence neurodegenerative diseases (NDs). Indeed, imbalances in thegut microbiota, or dysbiosis, play a vital role in the pathogenesis and progression of human diseases, particularly NDs. Herbalmedicine has been used for centuries to treat human diseases, including NDs. These compounds help to relieve symptomsand delay the progression of NDs by improving intestinal barrier function, reducing neuroinfl ammation, and modulatingneurotransmitter production. Notably, herbal medicine can mitigate the progression of NDs by regulating the gut microbiota. Therefore, an in-depth understanding of the potential mechanisms by which herbal medicine regulates the gut microbiotain the treatment of NDs can help explain the pathogenesis of NDs from a novel perspective and propose novel therapeuticstrategies for NDs. In this review, we investigate the potential neuroprotective eff ects of herbal medicine, focusing on itsability to regulate the gut microbiota and restore homeostasis. We also highlight the challenges and future research prioritiesof the integration of herbal medicine and modern medicine. As the global population ages, access to this information isbecoming increasingly important for developing eff ective treatments for these diseases.

The Role of Long Noncoding RNAs in Antiestrogen Resistance in Breast Cancer: An Overview and Update

        Lan Huang,Guohua Liang,Qingyuan Zhang,Wenhui Zhao 한국유방암학회 2020 Journal of breast cancer Vol.23 No.2

As a standard treatment, endocrine therapy has dramatically enhanced the prognosis of patients with estrogen receptor (ER)-positive breast cancer, which accounts for nearly 70% of all breast cancers. Antiestrogen drugs such as tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitors are the standard treatment options for ERα-positive breast cancer. However, acquired antiestrogen resistance is still the leading cause of disease recurrence and progression. Evidence has shown that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an essential role in the development of antiestrogen resistance in ER-positive breast cancer and can serve as biomarkers or potential therapeutic targets. This review highlights the role of lncRNAs in the development of antiestrogen resistance in breast cancer.

Crashworthy and Performance-cost Characteristics of Aluminum-CFRP Hybrid Tubes under Quasi-static Axial Loading

        Peilong Shi,Qiang Yu,Rong Huang,Xuan Zhao,Guohua Zhu 한국섬유공학회 2019 Fibers and polymers Vol.20 No.2

Metal/composite hybrid thin-walled structures combine the low cost of metallic materials and the high strength-toweight ratio of composites and thus have the potential to be utilized as cost-effective energy absorbers for vehicle applications. This study aimed to examine the crushing behaviors and performance-to-cost ratio of aluminum/carbon fiberreinforced plastic (CFRP) hybrid tubes under quasi-static axial loading. First, a single aluminum tube, a single CFRP tube and an aluminum/CFRP hybrid tube were tested to validate numerical models. The experimental results showed that the total energy absorption (EA) of the aluminum/CFRP hybrid tube was 32.46 % higher than the sum of that of the individual parts, and the special energy absorption (SEA) of the hybrid tube was improved by 105.26 % compared with that of the single aluminum tube. Then, the effects of the orientation angles ([±15 o]n, [±45 o]n, [±75 o]n, [±90 o]n, [90 o/0 o]n, n=2, 4, 6) and thicknesses of the CFRP tube wall (4-ply, 8-ply, 12-ply) on the crashworthiness of the hybrid tube were studied through validated numerical models. The numerical results showed that as the orientation angle increased, SEA, EA and the mean crushing force (Fmean) decreased first and then increased; in addition, the hybrid tubes with orientation angles of [±45 o]n and [90 o/0 o]n (n=2, 4, 6) consistently exhibited the worst and best crashworthiness, respectively. Furthermore, the SEA, EA, and Fmean of the hybrid tube increased with increasing thickness of the CFRP tube wall. Finally, the performance-to-cost ratio (SEA/cost) of the hybrid tube was analyzed, and the results show that aluminum/CFRP hybrid tubes with a smaller wall thickness of the CFRP tube exhibits superior potential in terms of both cost and performance for automotive applications.

Degradation Kinetics of Anthocyanins from Purple Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) as Affected by Ascorbic Acid

        Jing Li,Huige Song,Nan Dong,Guohua Zhao 한국식품과학회 2014 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.23 No.1

Storage (4oC and 25oC, 28 days) and thermal(70oC-90oC, 6 h) stabilities of purple sweet potatoanthocyanins (PSPAs) with varying concentrations ofascorbic acid (AA) were investigated in a model soft drinkmedium. For storage stability, the model drink wassterilized at 85oC for 15 min prior to storage. Zero-orderkinetics and first-order kinetics were fitted for storagedegradation at 4oC and 25oC, respectively. However, alldata for thermal degradation fitted first-order kinetics. Thetemperature dependence on degradation was modeled afterthe Arrhenius equation. Storage degradation of PSPAs wasincreased by the presence of AA (40-360 mg/L). Retardedthermal degradation was be achieved by adding 120 mg/Lof AA, while accelerated thermal degradation resultedfrom 360 mg/L of AA. Heat treatment did not markedlychange the DPPH radical-scavenging activity of PSPAs.

Identification of Novel Subregions of LOH in Gastric Cancer and Analysis of the HIC1 and TOB1 Tumor Suppressor Genes in These Subregions

        Jingcui Yu,Songbin Fu,Peng Liu,Xiaobo Cui,Yu Sui,Guohua Ji,Rongwei Guan,Donglin Sun,Wei Ji,Fangli Liu,An Liu,Yuzhen Zhao,Yang Yu,Yan Jin,Jing Bai,Jingshu Geng,Yingwei Xue,Jiping Qi,Ki-Young Lee 한국분자세포생물학회 2011 Molecules and cells Vol.32 No.1

Previously, we identified 3 overlapping regions showing loss of heterozygosity (LOH, R_1-R_3 from 11 to 30 cM) on chromosome 17 in 45 primary gastric cancers (GCs). The data indicated the presence of tumor suppressor genes (TSGs) on chromosome 17 involved in GC. Among the putative TSGs in these regions, HIC1 (in SR_1) and TOB1 (in SR_3) remain to be examined in GC. By immunohistochemistry (IHC), methylation-specific PCR (MSP) and western blot, we evaluated the expression and regulation status for HIC1 and TOB1 protein in GC. We narrowed down the deletion intervals on chromosome 17 and defined five smaller LOH subregions, SR_1-SR_5 (0.54 to 3.42 cM), in GC. We found that HIC1 had downregulated expression in 86% (91/106) and was methylated in 87% (26/30) of primary GCs. Of the primary GCs showing downregulation of HIC1 protein, 75% (18/24) had methylated HIC1 gene. TOB1 was either absent or expressed at reduced levels in 75% (73/97) of the GC samples. In addition, a general reduction was found in total and the ratio of unphosphorylated to phosphorylated TOB1 protein levels in the differentiated GC cell lines. Further analysis revealed significant simultaneous downregulation of both HIC1 and TOB1 protein in GC tissue microarray samples (67%, 52/78) and in primary GCs (65%, 11/17). These results indicate that silencing of HIC1 and TOB1 expression is a common occurrence in GC and may contribute to the development and progression of the disease.
