Results on the fly-wheel energy storage system driven by a high speed, and high frequency dual-inverter are summarized in this paper. The purposes of this system are mainly to achieve effective use of braking energy of electric railway locomotives, and additionally to reduce the peak load demand and the cost of electric utility. Economic evaluation is performed compared with the battery storage system. Basic characteristics of the Dual-inverter system, for the high power and high speed drive of fly wheel studied and the opening and closing method of the inverter from the induction machine during, the energy storing period, is suggested.

As a result of separating river sand and sea sand into the corrosion increased according to the of thinnss or the coating and the Chloride Content and Corrosion of Steel Bar through the experiment, the following conclusions are obtained. 1. There was no corrosion in the case of treating the steel bar with anticorrosive among test specimens cured in the air for 60 days, corrosion was found in the test specimens not treated with anticorrosive and for 60 days of age. 2. The area of corrosion increased according to the thinnss of the coating and the chloride content wher exposed for are more than 60 days. Therefore, it was determined in general that the corrosion progressed more rapidly in water cured specimens than in air cured ones and this was due to the influence of C1_( ̄) in the sea sand.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Several association studies have implicated the <I>PARK2</I> gene that encodes parkin – the key molecule orchestrating the mitochondrial quality control system – as a candidate susceptibility gene for diabetes. A total of 7551 unrelated Korean KARE cohort subjects were analyzed to investigate the association between the <I>PARK2</I> single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and quantitative glycemic traits. Two SNPs, rs10455889 and rs9365294, were significantly associated with fasting plasma glucose level (<I>p</I> =∼1.2×10<SUP>−4</SUP>) and insulin secretion indices (<I>p</I> =∼7.4×10<SUP>−5</SUP>) in male KARE subjects. Parkin was expressed predominantly in the rat pancreatic islets. Downregulation of the <I>Park2</I> gene in rat INS-1 β-cells resulted in a significant decrease in the glucose-stimulated insulin secretion, intracellular insulin gene expression, and intracellular ATP level. The <I>Park2</I>-depleted β-cells also exhibited increased mitochondrial fragmentation and ROS production and decreased mitochondrial membrane potential. Both population-based statistical evaluation and experimental evidence demonstrated a fundamental role of the <I>PARK2</I> gene in the maintenance of β-cell function.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Two <I>PARK2</I> SNPs are associated with fasting blood glucose and insulin secretion. </LI> <LI> The <I>Park2</I>-depleted rat β-cells exhibit decreased insulin production and secretion. </LI> <LI> Knockdown of <I>Park2</I> gene by RNAi causes mitochondrial alterations in rat INS-1 β-cells. </LI> <LI> <I>PARK2</I> gene plays an important role in the maintenance of pancreatic β-cell function. </LI> </UL> </P>

Robotic manipulators are increasingly deployed in complex environments or to perform complex tasks. Redundancy is necessary to cope with the increasing complexity. Redundancy is defined whenever a robot possesses more input degrees of freedom than required by the task at hand. Studies on dual arm robots have been continually carried out in robotics areas to provide robots in dangerous environments, similar to those which human beings would be normally in, without a special change to the working environment. In this study, a control system for a dual arm robot has been designed to provide a real-time connection between the controller and the robot by using a MEl's ZMP-SynqNet-PCI board. The dual arm robot consists of two arms with six degrees of freedom and a body with three degrees of freedom.
