β-Patchoulene (β-PAE) is a tricyclic sesquiterpene which performed many potential bioactivities and can be found in patchouli oil but in very low concentration. This study aimed to obtained β-PAE in high concentration by conversion of patchouli alcohol (PA) in patchouli oil under acid catalyzed reaction. Patchouli oil was fractinated by vacuum distillation at 96 kPa to get the fraction with the highest PA content. H2SO4 and ZnCl2 were used respectively as homogeneous and heterogeneous acid catalysts in the conversion reaction of the selected fraction. Patchouli oil, the fractions and the products were analysed by using GC-MS and FTIR instruments. Moreover, the interaction of β-PAE to COX-2 protein was studied to understand the antiinflammation activity of β-PAE. The results showed that patchouli oil contains 25.3% of PA. The selected fraction which has the highest PA content (70.3%) was distilled at 151 - 152 ºC. The application of ZnCl2 catalyst in conversion reaction did not succeed. In contrast, H2SO4 as a catalyst in acetic acid solvent succeeded in converting the overall fraction of PA to β-PAE. Furthermore, the molecular docking study of β-PAE against COX-2 enzyme showed van der Waals and alkyl-alkyl stacking interactions on ten amino acid residues.
Health and Safety: Fatigue among Seafarers in Malaysia
FIRDAUS NOR,SITI MARSILA MHD RUSLAN,KASYPI MOKHTAR,N.H.M. SALLEH,J. JEEVAN,A. H. NGAH,R. M. HANAFIAH 국제이네비해양경제학회 2019 International Journal of e-Navigation and Maritime Vol.12 No.1
Fatigue is not a trivial issue and needs much attention. On the other hand, fatigue among seafarers could lead to accidents at sea due to their inability and ineffectiveness in carrying out their work. Some were caused by sleepiness and lack of vigour, which, could not only affect their safety but compromising on other seafarers as well. In this study, factors that cause fatigue among seafarers were examined analytically and their quantitative priorities were determined using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Additionally, the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is used to identify the best alternatives in minimizing fatigue among seafarers. For this, data is collected through interview involving those working in academic and maritime industry with more than 5 years of experiences in dealing with seafarers. The AHP result shows that fitness is the main cause that could affect fatigue on seafarers’ reliability. Besides, TOPSIS result shows that a well-maintained shipboard is the best way in sustaining seafarers’ energy. In sum, fatigue among seafarers could influence on safety and may lead towards precarious health issue over a long-term.

Purpose: The primary goal of this study is to evaluate the importance of developing organizational agility and alliance capability to survive during turbulence times such COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: The study's data was gathered through a survey of 103 top management teams from 55 publicly listed companies in Indonesia, and the responses were analyzed to determine the relationships between leadership, agile organization, alliance management, and firm performance. Findings: This study found that ambidextrous leadership at publicly listed companies has no direct impact on firm performance during times of turbulence. Agility and alliance management capability, on the other hand, fully mediate the relationship between ambidextrous leadership and firm performance. Research limitations/implications: Leaders, particularly those in public listed companies, must continuously improve their organizational agility and alliance management capability to remain competitive and adaptive to face environmental changes. For utilizing organizational agility and alliance management capability as a firm strategy during times of turbulences, ambidextrous leaders are expected to balance exploiting and exploring practices. Originality/value: This study compares the perceptions of top management team during and normal time and during the COVID-19 pandemic specifically on leadership, agility, and alliance management capability in a stock market environment.

This paper proposes a reliable data sharing scheme on the internet of vehicles (IoV) by utilizing blockchain technology for constructing a decentralized system approach. In our model, to maintain the credibility of the information messages sent by the vehicles to the system, we propose a reputation rating mechanism, in which neighboring vehicles validate every received information message. Furthermore, we incorporate an incentive mechanism based on smart contracts, so that vehicles will get certain rewards from the system when they share correct traffic information messages. We simulated the IoV network using a discrete event simulator to analyze network performance, whereas the incentive model is designed by leveraging the smart contract available in the Ethereum platform.
Lean – Balanced Scorecard Integration Framework for Small Medium Enterprises
Faizuddin Firdaus Zaini,Mohd Rizal Bin Salleh,MD Nizam bin Abd Rahman,Muhamad Arfauz Bin A Rahman,Nashrullah Setiawan,Nur Rachman Dzakiyullah 대한산업공학회 2022 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.21 No.2
Lack of knowledge, management, and financial resources has led to inefficiencies in the operation process resulting in low productivity and competitiveness. Therefore, SMEs need management systems such as a Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and Lean Manufacturing (LM), two separate management systems used to determine the right strategies and priorities to achieve goals, increase productivity, and eliminate waste effectively. Both approaches can be used not only in manufacturing companies but also in service companies. However, a proper framework is needed to combine the two approaches for more efficient results. The proposed framework provides guidelines for SMEs to become busi-ness excellence using appropriate management systems. This framework consists of systematic steps that define a vision/mission, identify KPI targets, plan actions to eliminate waste, monitor, and evaluate. The literature review is used to consider the advantages of BSC and LM in addressing the problems and needs of SMEs.
Empowering Blockchain For Secure Data Storing in Industrial IoT
( Muhammad Firdaus ),( Kyung-hyune Rhee ) 한국정보처리학회 2020 한국정보처리학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.27 No.1
In the past few years, the industrial internet of things (IIoT) has received great attention in various industrial sectors which have potentially increased a high level of integrity, availability, and scalability. The increasing of IIoT is expected to create new smart industrial enterprises and build the next generation smart system. However existing IIoT systems rely on centralized servers that are vulnerable to a single point of failure and malicious attack, which exposes the data to security risks and storage. To address the above issues, blockchain is widely considered as a promising solution, which can build a secure and efficient environment for data storing, processing and sharing in IIoT. In this paper, we propose a decentralized, peer-to-peer platform for secure data storing in industrial IoT base on the ethereum blockchain. We exploit ethereum to ensure data security and reliability when smart devices store the data.

Urbanization, one of the most pressing global issues, with all of its concomitant consequences, is resulting in greater attention among planners and policy makers today than ever before. The present study intends to probe into the subject of urbanization with a specific focus on Delhi, and analysis of the same in the context of changing agricultural land use pattern and rural livelihood. A crosssectional design was used for data collection from a random sample of 896farming households. The analysis depicts that during 1951–2001, the urban area of Delhi expanded from 195.8 ㎢ to 924.6 ㎢, and the urban population increased from 0.1 to 2.3 million. Information at the household level shows that nearly 63% of the sampled household shifted their occupation from agriculture to non-agriculture, while almost 50% of the respondents reported change in cropping patterns, i.e. food grain versus vegetables, fruits and flowers. Through the application of the multiple linear regression model, the study reveals that residential complexes (p<0.01) and household industries (p<0.05) have a positive significant bearing on agricultural land use patterns. The development of transportation networks, orchards and nurseries, and brick kiln are shown to have an insignificant (p>0.05) correlation. Integrated planning for rural and urban areas may be key for balanced and sustainable urban development of Delhi.
