AUTOMATIC DETECTION AND EXTRACTION ALGORITHM OF INTER-GRANULAR BRIGHT POINTS

Inter-granular Bright Points (igBPs) are small-scale objects in the Solar photosphere which can be seen within dark inter-granular lanes. We present a new algorithm to automatically detect and extract igBPs. Laplacian and Morphological Dilation (LMD) technique is employed by the algorithm. It involves three basic processing steps: (1) obtaining candidate "seed" regions by Laplacian; (2) determining the boundary and size of igBPs by morphological dilation; (3) discarding brighter granules by a probability criterion. For validating our algorithm, we used the observed samples of the Dutch Open Telescope (DOT), collected on April 12, 2007. They contain 180 high-resolution images, and each has a $85{\times}68\;arcsec^2$ field of view (FOV). Two important results are obtained: first, the identified rate of igBPs reaches 95% and is higher than previous results; second, the diameter distribution is $220{\pm}25km$, which is fully consistent with previously published data. We conclude that the presented algorithm can detect and extract igBPs automatically and effectively.
Improved Accelerometer and Magnetometer-Based Solution to Solve Quaternion

Light overloaded small aircraft, such as ducted fan MAV, could use accelerometer and magnetometer to measure acceleration and earth magnetic field in the body coordinate frame. There is a quaternion that relates the measured accelerations and earth magnetic field in the body coordinate frame to calculated values in the earth coordinate frame. An overdetermined nonlinear equations which could get the quaternion need to be solved. So far, the Gauss-Newton iteration algorithm was being used most commonly to solve the overdetermined equations. However, when the inverse of Jacobian matrix is singular or conditioned, the iteration would be diverge. To overcome the problem, first, transferring the overdetermined problem to determined one by a premultiply transposition of Jacobian matrix, then using Correctional Newton with Parameter iteration algorithm to solve the determined equations. Compared to Gauss-Newton iteration algorithm, this method not only could converge more fast, but also could overcome the situation which Jacobian matrix is singular or conditioned.
On the Linearization of Chinese Sentence-final Particles

This paper presents an analysis of Taiwanese sentences in which an IP is sandwiched between two C-elements, a complementizer and a sentence-final particle. We observe that, if we adhere to generally accepted conditions on movement, there is only one way to get the IP in between the two Cs. It only works if both Cs are head-initial and CP1 moves into the specifier of CP2: [CP2 [CP1 C1 IP] C2 t[CP1] ]. We show that this movement is motivated by the need to create an a-symmetrical relation in terms of c-command, between CP1 and the newly merged C2-head so as to make linearization possible (Moro 2000). At merger, we have a symmetrical situation because after CP1 has been sent to spell out, the terminal nodes inside it are no longer visible as a result of which it behaves as one atom. We argue that at spell out, the entire phase is transferred, i.e., the edge, the head H and the complement “Max spell out”), instead of just the complement of H.
The Real Time Infrared Image Acquisition and Processing System Design Based on FPGA

Field programmable gate array (FPGA) has the characteristics of high speed, low power consumption, high integration, flexibility and, small size, etc. In this paper, I design a real time infrared image processing and display system based on FPGA for the requirement of real time infrared image processing, which will realize the transmission, transformation, and storage of the image information, and then complete the infrared image edge detection based on Sobel algorithm by using this system as a platform. At last, the advantages of infrared image processing with this system compared with other methods will be verified in this paper. The experimental results show that the system spends 11.44ms on processing the colorful image whose resolution is 640480.The system has realized the real time, high speed, stable and reliable acquisition, processing and display of infrared image and we can realize the infrared target feature extraction, recognition and tracking when we combine the system with other algorithms.

As a typical base isolation device, the friction pendulum bearing (FPB) was applied to the lattice grid structures in this paper. The isolation mechanism of FPBs was analyzed from two aspects of force and energy consumption, while the static anddynamic mechanical properties of lattice grid structures with FPBs were numerically investigated using two models of regularand oblique quadrangular pyramid framed structures. The physical models of FPBs with fictional coefficient of 0.1 and acurvature radius of 1.0 m was established and applied to the lattice grid structures. Moreover, the mechanical properties of thesestructures with FPBs ware studied. Numerical results indicate that the seismic response of structures is remarkably weakenedby using FPBs, which means FPBs can be used to effectively control structural vibration.

Seismic ground motions at structural supports are spatially varying and incoherent. The spatial incoherency effects shouldbe considered for structures with large span and multiple supports. Two single-layer reticulated domes of 120m span, with andwithout substructures under incoherent multiple supports and uniform excitations were modeled and analysed in this study. Time-history responses of structures are obtained and compared for simulated ground motion records. For the simulation, useof existing phase difference spectrum models and coherence models were considered, and three-directional excitations (twohorizontal directions and vertical direction) are considered. The analysis results show that the spatial coherency effect caninfluence the seismic responses of reticulated domes. The results also indicate that the seismic spatial coherency of all threedirections can be important, especially for structures without flexible substructures.

The emerging triple-phase-shift (TPS) modulation method has been successfully applied to the dual active bridge (DAB) converters, eliminating the circulating current and thus improving the efficiency. Hence the TPS-based DAB converter has been receiving greater attention in recent years. However, the interaction between the TPS-DAB converter and its LC filter may cause instable problems. This paper develops the impedance model of the TPS-DAB converter. With the developed input impedance model, the stability of the TPS-DAB converter and its LC filter is analyzed. The effects of the LC filter parameters on the stability of the TPS-DAB converter and the LC filter are clarified. Finally, the experimental results are provided for validating the impedance model and stability analysis.
Research of Vehicle Navigation Based Video-GIS

In order to make the effect of the navigation system more direct, the paper proposes a thought of vehicle navigation system based on Video-GIS. A semantic framework has been defined whose core is focused on the integration and interaction of video and spatial information, which supports full content retrieval based on multimodal metadata extraction and fusion, and supports kinds of wireless access mode. Furthermore, requirements of prototype system are discussed. Then the design and implementation of framework are discussed. Next, describe the key ideas and technologies involved. Finally, we point out its future research trend.

Polyacrylic acid/polyethersulfone (PAA/PES) capsules were adopted as templates to synthesize PAA/PES core–shell spheres, and the PES shell of spheres could be removed automatically by the swelling nature of the cross-linked PAA hydrogel core. By using the method, PAA hydrogel spheres were prepared with an ultrahigh ion exchange capacity of 12 meq g−1, and the spheres showed a high adsorption capacity for methylene blue. The PAA-polyacrylamide hydrogel spheres with dual adsorption ability and good mechanical property were also prepared. It was revealed that these two hydrogel spheres can be effectively utilized in the removal of environmental toxins.
