        The laser has born used for medical treatment in various clinics for the last several tens of years. Many kinds of lasers have been used for the photodynamic therapy which is one of the most advanced method of medical treatment for various kinds of cancer cells in the human body. The center wavelength of absorption spectrum of the most popular photosensitizer is about 630 nm, but no suitable solid-state laser could be found yet. Optical parametric oscillation is recently developed method to produce variable wavelength from a powerful solid-slate laser. In this study, high conversion efficientγ of 27 % at the wavelength range from 590 to 890 nm can be achieved from an optical parametric oscillator using a β-BBO crystal and two dichroic mirrors. Because of the high conversion efficiency at the wavelength of 530 nm, it might be possible to generate enough power of coherent light beam for the clinical photodynamic therapy.

        The effects of nickel ions on crystallographic and spin-flip transitions in FeS have been studied using Mossbauer effect and X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure is superstructure of the hexagonal NiAs structure, having the 2C structure at room temperature and the 1C structure at high temperature. The Mossbauer spectra of ?? ?? sample showed large thermal hysteresis, the hysteresis width of ?? was about 7K ?? showed almost no thermal hysteresis.

        Polymer dispersed liquid crystals (PDLCs) produce the abrupt change in the scattered light intensity as the onset time of phase separation. The structure factor can be determined by detailed measurement of the intensity of the scattered light as a function of time. Photo-multiplier tube attached on the moving arm has been needed for real time data acquisition. Another method by using a simple system assembled from lenses and an iris has been developed. In order to test this new system, well defined diffraction beam produced by a pinhole was used. The experimental result shows a good agreement with the theory.

      • 반강자성체 ZnFe₂O₄의 Mossbauer 분광학적 연구

        반강자석 ZnFe₂O₄의 결정학적 및 자기적 성질을 Mossbauer 분광법과 X-선 회절법으로 연구하였다. 결정구조는 normal spinel이며 격자상수 ??이었다. Mossbauer spectrum은 12K 부터 실온의 영역에서 취하였으며 철 이온이 사면체 자리에 들어감을 알았다. 이성질체 이동의 측정결과 철이온의 전하상태가 +3가 임이 판명되었으며, Curie 온도는 35K로 결정하였다. The Antiferromagnetic ZnFe₂O₄has been studied by Mossbauer Spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure is the normal spinel and the lattice parameter ?? is found to be 8.451Å. Mossbauer spectra of ZnFe₂O₄has been taken at various temperature ranging from 12K to room temperature and iron ions occupy only the octahedral (B)sites. The isomer shift indicates that the charge state of a Fe iron is ferric in character. The Curie temperature of ZnFe₂O, is found to be 35K.

      • 고분자속의 액정에 대한 상분리 특성

        Polymer dispersed liquid crystals (PDLCs) are new optoelectonic materials which have many applications. There are three kinds of methods for fabrication of PDLCs. In this report, the samples were made by using thermally induced phase separation method, and the phase separation characteristics were measured by a polarization microscope and a suitable setup of optical instruments. We used mixtures of 5CB and PMMA or PVFM etc. The phase separation phenomena depending on the various temperature cooling rates were observed by polarization microscope, and the appropriate optical setup was designed for the quantitative analysis. The phase separation temperature for the weight percent of 90% of 5CB was measured in the high temperature of about 100℃.

      • 어븀-야그 레이저에 대한 속빈 도파로의 광 도파 특성

        The laser has been used for medical treatment in various clinics. Er :YAG laser is also one of that kind of the medical laser, and is spot-lighted specially for the dental application because the emission spectrum of the laser has the highest absorption in the water. But the advantage of the laser output spectrum is changed to the fatal disadvantage in the delivery system. Many optical waveguides as well as articulated arm have been developed for the delivery of Er:YAG laser light. But there has not been found the most suitable waveguide yet. Hollow waveguide which is recently developed light guiding device has been reported to show good transmission characteristics for the Er:YAG laser wavelength region. We have experimented to find out the utilization possibility of the hollow waveguide in dental application. The transmission characteristics of the hollow waveguide in the wavelength region of the Er:YAG laser is presented.

        CdS thin films were evaporated by vacuum evaporation method on the glass was the thickness of 200nm and glass-substrate temperature at 85℃. The electrical and optical characteristics of CdS films measured by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope(SEM), 4-point probe method, and photoluminescence at room temperature was shown the cubic to hexagonal structure transition at the annealed temperature of 370℃.

      • Mo¨ssbauer분광학을 이용한 Cu_xFe_(1-x)S의 전이에 관한 연구

        The effect of copper ions in Cu_xFe_1-xS(x=0.01, 0.02, 0.05, 0.075) on crystallographic and spint-flip transitions in FeS has been studied using Mo¨ssbauer effect and x-ray diffraction. Crystallographic transition temperature Tα increased as the content of impurity x increased, but Neˇel temperature T_N and Morin transition temperature T_M decreased. The coexistence zone for the two crystallographic phase, 1C and 2C, widened as x increased, the M¨ossbauer spectrum of Cu_0.075 Fe_0.925S at room temperature shows the spectrum neer T_MC. These results are confirmed by the analysis of x-ray diffraction.

      • Silicon-Nitrogen 결합을 갖는 새로운 Complex의 합성

        Trialkylsilane을 출발물질로 하여 Si←N 배위결합을 함유하는 5배위자 규소착화합물인 1-organosilatrane을 합성하였다. Si←N 배위결합의 형성은 얻어진 silatrane의 IR 및 NMR spectra에 의하여 확인하였다. 1-Organosilatrane의 합성에 사용한 용매는 methanol과 ethanol이었는데 얻어진 결과에서는 별다른 차이를 찾을 수 없었다. 얻어진 silatsane은 뜨거운 DMF로 재결정하였다. 1-Organosilatrane which has a pentacoordination bond was synthesized from trimethylsilane. The formation of Si←N coordination bond was indentified by IR and NMR spectra of the product. Solvents used for the synthesis were methanol and ethanol, and none of the solvent effect has been found. The product was recrystalized from hot DMF.
