        In this paper, we propose an encoding algorithm for micro-operations which minimizes output transactions of control store. The transition rates between two micro-operations are computed based on the instruction usage frequency and the symbolic micro-codes of each instruction. Then, codes are assigned to micro-operations such that the Hamming distance of codes between micro-operations with higher transition rates is smaller. Experimental results on a x86 real mode symbolic micro-code set show that the proposed algorithm reduces the switching activity by 32% with only 6% area increase compared to the results of NOVA input encoding.

        Since 1970, there have been several researches of drawing recognition system. But most of the syste as use database to recognize drawing and ones need management of the database. And in the conventional segmentation method, the more complex symbols are contatined in the drawing, the more symbols are added to recognize them in database. In this thesis, I proposed a segmentation method to separate compound symbol into basic symbols. And segmented symbols can be recognized using database of minimum. Experimental results show that input drawing can be separated into line components and loop components using proposed algorithm and compound symbols are separated intos basic symbols.

      • 자동입력시스템을 위한 도면미화에 관한연구

        As the diverse of industry increase information to handle, requirement of automatic input system has been increased. And these automatic input systems have been developed as the font of various kinds of recognition system. Expecially. drawing recognition system which is an automatic input system of drawing has been studied since 1970. But most of those systems are on-line system. On-line system can not continously display a status of making drawing by restriction of size of monitor, And can not input a printed data or hand drawn data with keyboard. In this paper, an off-line system to beautify the input data coming through scanner is proposed, and input data is a hand drawn data or printed data consisting of texts and graphics. To do this process, input data will be separated into line component, loop component, text. As shown in results, hand drawns or printed datas are separated into charater, line, and loop component. And also these separated component are beautified through symbol recognition.

        In this study, 127 excellent college players of our country (16 boxers, 20 judoists, 23 Taekwondo players, 23 weight lifters, 31 wrestlers, 14 rowers) were put to the analytic test of five basic bodily powers directly relevant to the playing ability. The following are the results. 1. Muscular Strength In terms of the sporting event, players of rowing and judo were the best and those of taekwondo the worst; individually, the best two were a judoist and a wrestler, and the worst one a judoist. 2. Muscular Endurance Players of rowing were the best, and those of weight lifting the worst; individually, the best one was a rower, and the worst one a weight lifter. 3. Power Players of weight lifting were the best, and those of boxing the worst; individually, the best one was a wrestler, and the worst a boxer. 4. Agility Players were almost equal to each other regardless of sporting events; individually, the best one was a taekwondo player, and the worst one a weight lifter. 5. Flexibility In case of trunk flexion, players of rowing were the best, and those of weight lifting the worst; individually, the best one was a judoist, and the worst a weight lifter. And in case of trunk extension, players of Taekwondo were the best, and those of rowing the worst; individually, the best one was a wrestler, and the worst one a weight lifter.

        Successful Removal of Endobronchial Lipoma by Flexible Bronchoscopy Using Electrosurgical Snare

        A 62-year-old man with a chronic cough presented with atelectasis of the left upper lobe on chest X-ray. Chest computed tomography showed an atelectasis in the left upper lobe with bronchial wall thickening, stenosis, dilatation, and mucoid impaction. We performed bronchoscopy and found a well-circumscribed mass on the left upper lobe bronchus. The mass was removed by flexible bronchoscopy using an electrosurgical snare and diagnosed with lipoma. An endobronchial lipoma is a rare benign tumor that can be treated by a surgical or endoscopic approach. We report the successful removal of endobronchial lipoma via flexible bronchoscopic electrosurgical snare.

      • S-251 : The treatment of MDR Acinetobacter baumannii pneumonia in the intensive care units

        Introduction: The nosocomial pneumonia due to Acinetobacter baumannii is increased. However, it is difficult to treat due to limited treatment regimens. Objective: To compare several antimicrobials with Colistin for suspected pneumonia in the ICU. Methods: The study included 179 mechanically ventilated patients more than 48 hours who developed suspected ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) in 52 beds ICU of teaching hospital in South Korea. We retrospectively analyzed 61 patients with A.baumannii pneumonia. Results: 50 patients had multidrug-resistant A. baumannii (MDR-AB) pneumonia and 11 patients had carbapenem-susceptible A. baumannii (CSAB) pneumonia. The age, APACHE-2 score and SOFA score at VAP episode and CPIS were 65.8±15.9, 19.2±7.4, 8.0±2.4 and 5.6±1.6. There were no differences in the patient`s characteristics between the two groups. Clinical responses were observed in 52% in MDR-AB pneumonia and 63.6% in CSAB pneumonia (p=0.076). The adequacy of antimicrobials in CSAB pneumonia was higher than MDR-AB pneumonia (90.9% vs 40%, p=0.003). There was not significant difference of 28-day mortality in CSAB and MDR-AB pneumonia (27.3% vs 44%, p=0.5). The 28-day mortality of 24 MDR-AB pneumonia who had clinical failure (75%) was significantly higher than 26 patients who had clinical response (15.4%, p=0.00). The monotherapy and combination regimen including Colistin were more effective in the treatment of MDR-AB pneumonia. Clinical response with Colistin and without Colistin were 53.8% and 29.2% (p=0.077) respectively. 35 patients who received either Colistin or Carbapenem had 73.2% clinical response. The regimens including rifampicin or ampicillin/sulbactam were not effective in MDR-AB pneumonia. Conclusions: CSAB pneumonia could easily be treatment comared to MDR-AB, but there was no significant difference of 28-day mortality in two groups. The mortality of patients who had clinical failure was higher and regimen including Colistin was more effective than other antimicrobials. Empirical need regimen including Colistin in the treatment of MDR-AB pneumonia may be considered in the ICU.

        Resveratrol Induces Apoptosis of KB Human Oral Cancer Cells

        Resveratrol (trans-3,4`,5,-trihydroxystilbene), a phytoalexin present in grape skin and red wine, suppresses many types of cancers by regulating cell proliferation and apoptosis through a variety of mechanisms. However, the effects of resveratrol on oral cancer are not completely understood. Thus, effects of resveratrol on cell growth and apoptosis induction were examined by 3-(4,5- dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay, DNA fragmentation, immunoblotting, and determination of caspase activation in KB human oral cancer cells. Treatment with resveratrol induced inhibition of cell growth depending on the resveratrol treatment time and concentration in KB cells. Treatment with resveratrol induced DNA ladder formation in KB cells and promoted proteolytic cleavage of procaspase-3 and procaspase-7 with increases in the amount of cleaved caspases-3 and -7. Proteolytic processing of caspase-9 in KB cells was increased by resveratrol treatment. Activation of caspase-3/-7 was detected in living KB cells by fluorescence microscopy. These results suggest that the resveratrol can suppress cell growth and induce cell apoptosis in KB human oral cancer cells, and may have potential as an anti-cancer drug.

        Clinical Course and Outcomes of Patients with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Infection: a Preliminary Report of the First 28 Patients from the Korean Cohort Study on COVID-19

        Background: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)-infected pneumonia emerged in Wuhan, China in December 2019. In this retrospective multicenter study, we investigated the clinical course and outcomes of novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from early cases in Republic of Korea. Methods: All of the cases confirmed by real time polymerase chain reaction were enrolled from the 1st to the 28th patient nationwide. Clinical data were collected and analyzed for changes in clinical severity including laboratory, radiological, and virologic dynamics during the progression of illness. Results: The median age was 40 years (range, 20–73 years) and 15 (53.6%) patients were male. The most common symptoms were cough (28.6%) and sore throat (28.6%), followed by fever (25.0%). Diarrhea was not common (10.7%). Two patients had no symptoms. Initial chest X-ray (CXR) showed infiltration in 46.4% of the patients, but computed tomography scan confirmed pneumonia in 88.9% (16/18) of the patients. Six patients (21.4%) required supplemental oxygen therapy, but no one needed mechanical ventilation. Lymphopenia was more common in severe cases. Higher level of C-reactive protein and worsening of chest radiographic score was observed during the 5–7 day period after symptom onset. Viral shedding was high from day 1 of illness, especially from the upper respiratory tract (URT). Conclusion: The prodromal symptoms of COVID-19 were mild and most patients did not have limitations of daily activity. Viral shedding from URT was high from the prodromal phase. Radiological pneumonia was common from the early days of illness, but it was frequently not evident in simple CXR. These findings could be plausible explanations for the easy and rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 in the community.
