Effect of foaming parameters on the physical and phytochemical properties of tomato powder

        Eman Farid,Sabah Mounir,Eman Talaat,Sherif Elnemr,Hassan Siliha 한국식품과학회 2022 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.31 No.11

The objective of this work was to study the effect of foaming parameters on the physical and phytochemical properties of tomato powder. A central composite rotatable design of experiments was defined with two parameters (concentration of soy protein isolate [SPI]: 1–5% and whipping time: 2–14 min) with 5 levels for each parameter. The foam was prepared by whipping tomato puree after adding SPI and dried in a thin layer (4 mm ± 1) at 50 °C. The obtained results showed the predominant effect of the concentration of SPI on the physical and phytochemical properties compared to whipping time. The powder prepared under foaming conditions of 5% SPI and whipping time of 8 min showed an increase of 97, 39, 62, and 46% in the total phenolics, total flavonoids, antioxidant activity, and porosity, respectively, while the bulk density decreased by about 25%.

Dexamethasone alone versus in combination with intra-operative super-hydration for postoperative nausea and vomiting prophylaxis in female patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a randomized clinical trial

        Eman A. Ismail,Sayed Kaoud Abd-Elshafy,Mohamed H. Bakri 대한마취통증의학회 2017 Korean Journal of Anesthesiology Vol.70 No.5

Background: Dexamethasone has a prophylactic effect on postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and perioperative hydration is believed to play a role in PONV prophylaxis. This study was performed to examine the combined effects of pre-induction dexamethasone plus super-hydration on PONV and pain following laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). Methods: A total of 100 female patients undergoing LC were enrolled and randomized equally into two groups. Group DF received 5 mg dexamethasone (pre-induction) plus 30 ml/kg Ringer’s lactate (intraoperative) and group D received 5 mg dexamethasone (pre-induction) alone. Anesthetic and surgical managements were standardized for all patients. The incidence and severity of PONV, and intra and post-operative analgesic and postoperative antiemetic consumption, were assessed during the first 24 h postoperatively. Post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) stay and aggregated 24 h pain scores were calculated. Results: Group DF had significantly lower PONV than group D (P = 0.03). The number of patients with the lowest PONV score was significantly increased in group DF (P = 0.03). Ondansetron consumption was significantly lower in group DF (P < 0.0001). The mean accumulated 24 h pain scores were significantly lower in group DF compared to group D (P < 0.0001). The time to first analgesic request was significantly longer in group DF than group D (P < 0.0001). In addition, total meperidine consumption during the first postoperative 24 h was significantly lower in group DF than group D (P = 0.002). Conclusions: In female patients undergoing LC, pre-induction with 5 mg dexamethasone plus intraoperative 30 ml/kg Ringer’s lactate solution decreased PONV and pain during the first 24 h postoperatively compared to 5 mg dexamethasone alone.

      • Generating ER Diagrams from Requirement Specifications Based On Natural Language Processing

Eman S. Btoush,Mustafa M. Hammad 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.8 No.2

An Entity Relationship (ER) data model is a high level conceptual model that describes information as entities, attributes, and relationships. Entity relationship modeling designed to facilitate database design. The abstract nature of Entity Relationship diagrams can be discouraging task to both designers and student alike. This paper deals with the problem of extracting ER elements from natural language specifications using Natural Language Processing (NLP). The approach provides the opportunity of using natural language documents as a source of knowledge for generating ER data model. The structural approach is used to parse specification syntactically based a predefined set of on heuristics rules. Extracted words with its Part Of Speech (POS) mapped into entities, attributes and relationships, which are the basic elements of ER diagrams.

      • What Stops Women from Climbing up the Career Latter

        Eman F. S. Hamdan 이화여자대학교 아시아여성학센터 2016 이화여자대학교 아시아여성학센터 학술대회자료집 Vol.2016 No.7

Historically, leadership has been defined as the “man on a white horse”, and any study of leadership concept is seen as the study of great men. Palestinian women at any management position may face many challenges, especially in the decision making role, because it’s a very sensitive stage that result in a constructive or destructive decision that determine the institution future. As a result, women face a lot of difficulties when she try to reach high position at work, this make it much more difficult for woman to make or share at decision making. 49.2% from the Palestinian society is women but her participation in labor force still 15%, although the great role that she play in society development. Despite the remarkable progress achieved by the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) in promoting women’s participation in the labor market during the last decade and half, the gender gap is still apparent in terms of participation in the labor force. Women still face many type of barrier and challenges that prevent her progress either it from the society of from the implementation of the law or from the organizations itself. Women in public sector in Palestine also have obstacles this research will help to find out this obstacles is from where it comes and where is exactly the problem.

Comparison of intraperitoneal versus intravenous dexamethasone on postoperative nausea and vomiting after gynecological laparoscopy: a randomized clinical trial

        Eman A Ismail,Ghada M Abo Elfadl,Mustafa Bahloul 대한마취통증의학회 2019 Korean Journal of Anesthesiology Vol.72 No.1

Background: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a common complication following laparascopic surgery. This study compared the effect of intraperitoneal versus intravenous dexamethasone for reducing PONV after gynecological laparoscopic surgeries. Methods: Eighty adult female patients, American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I–II, scheduled for gynecological laparoscopic surgery were randomized to receive 8 mg dexamethasone intravenously (IV) (n = 40) or intraperitoneally (IP) (n = 40). The primary outcome was the PONV incidence during the first 24 h after laparoscopy. Secondary outcomes included visual analogue scale (VAS) pain scores, total rescue analgesic consumption during the first 24 h postoperatively, the need for rescue antiemetic drugs, and the incidence of complications that may accompany these medications. Results: Eleven women (27.5%) in the IV group, versus only 3 (7.5%) women in the IP group, experienced nausea during the first 24 h postlaparoscopy (P = 0.037). However, 5 patients (12.5%) in the IV group, versus only 2 patients (5.0%) in the IP group, experienced vomiting (P = 0.424). No statistically significant differences were seen in the severity of nausea or the need for rescue antiemetics. The IV group had a higher rate of side-effects than the IP group (27.5% vs. 7.5%, P = 0.037). Headache and dizziness were common side effects in the IV dexamethasone group. The groups did not differ significantly in terms of mean VAS score for pain and total meperidine consumption during the first 24 h postoperatively. Conclusions: Intraperitoneal dexamethasone at a dose of 8 mg at the end of gynecological laparoscopy reduces the incidence of postoperative nausea.

Effects of air-abrasion pressure on the resin bond strength to zirconia: a combined cyclic loading and thermocycling aging study

        Eman Z. Al-Shehri,Afnan O. Al-Zain,Alaa H. Sabrah,Sarah S. Al-Angari,Laila Al Dehailan,George J. Eckert,Mutlu Özcan,Jeffrey A. Platt,Marco C. Bottino 대한치과보존학회 2017 Restorative Dentistry & Endodontics Vol.42 No.3

Objectives: To determine the combined effect of fatigue cyclic loading and thermocycling (CLTC) on the shear bond strength (SBS) of a resin cement to zirconia surfaces that were previously air-abraded with aluminum oxide (Al2O3) particles at different pressures. Materials and Methods: Seventy-two cuboid zirconia specimens were prepared and randomly assigned to 3 groups according to the air-abrasion pressures (1, 2, and 2.8 bar), and each group was further divided into 2 groups depending on aging parameters (n = 12). Panavia F 2.0 was placed on pre-conditioned zirconia surfaces, and SBS testing was performed either after 24 hours or 10,000 fatigue cycles (cyclic loading) and 5,000 thermocycles. Non-contact profilometry was used to measure surface roughness. Failure modes were evaluated under optical and scanning electron microscopy. The data were analyzed using 2-way analysis of variance and χ2 tests (α = 0.05). Results: The 2.8 bar group showed significantly higher surface roughness compared to the 1 bar group (p < 0.05). The interaction between pressure and time/cycling was not significant on SBS, and pressure did not have a significant effect either. SBS was significantly higher (p = 0.006) for 24 hours storage compared to CLTC. The 2 bar-CLTC group presented significantly higher percentage of pre-test failure during fatigue compared to the other groups. Mixed-failure mode was more frequent than adhesive failure. Conclusions: CLTC significantly decreased the SBS values regardless of the air-abrasion pressure used.

Amelioration of rotenone-induced Parkinson’s disease; comparing therapeutic role of erythropoietin versus low-level laser activation of mesenchymal stem cells (an in-vivo and in-vitro study)

        Eman Mumtaz El Mahdy,Maha Gamal,Basma Emad Aboulhoda,Basent Adel Al Dreny,Ashraf Shamaa,Laila Rashed,Ahmed Nour Eldine Abdallah,Asmaa M. Shamseldeen 한국통합생물학회 2023 Animal cells and systems Vol.27 No.1

Parkinson’s disease (PD), the second common neurodegenerative disease, is characterized by theloss of the dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra (SN). Because of L-dopa’s side effects, newtherapeutic methods were considered such as stem cells for PD treatment. The major challengefacing stem cell therapy following transplantations is their peripheral sequestration anddecreased survival. Thus, the ability of erythropoietin (EPO) and low-level laser therapy (LLLT) toenhance mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) proliferation and therapeutic efficiency for alleviatingrotenone-induced PD was investigated. Therefore, we compared the influence of stem cellpreconditioning with erythropoietin versus LLLT on MSCs’ homing ability and the chances ofsurvival. Forty-eight male Swiss mice were included in the in vivo protocol and ten in the invitro work. The mice in the in vivo study were divided randomly into six groups (8 in each);group I; control group and group II; induced PD (untreated) group, group III; L-dopa, group IV;MSCs, group V; EPO-activated MSCs and group VI; laser-activated MSCs. Treatment with MSCs(either preconditioned or not) improved these neurological features by restoring the normalbalance between glutamate and GABA neurotransmitters, and dopamine as well as increasedtyrosine hydroxylase levels. Stem cell therapy decreased oxidative stress, miRNA-155 levels, enhanced neuronal architecture in SN, and decreased the number of apoptotic cells. LLLTenhanced MSC expression of integrin β1 which was reflected in the homing of PKH26-labelledMSCs into corpus striatum and SN. Thus, the optimum results were achieved with laseractivatedMSCs.

      • SLA in Cloud Computing Architectures: A Comprehensive Study

        Eman Aljoumah,Fajer Al-Mousawi,Imtiaz Ahmad,Maha Al-Shammri,Zahraa Al-Jady 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.8 No.5

Cloud computing, the model for providing on-demand access to a pool of shared resources with minimum provider interference, is emerging as a substitute to common IT infrastructure. As increasing numbers of cloud consumers dispatch their workloads to cloud providers, Service Level Agreement (SLA) between consumers and providers becomes of paramount importance to guarantee that service quality is preserved at satisfactory levels regardless of the dynamic nature of the cloud environment. SLA contains an explanation of the agreed service, parameters of the level of service, the guarantees regarding the Quality of Service, arrangements and cures for all cases of violations. In this paper, we provide a study about the general structure of SLA, its components, the management processes (in particular SLA monitoring), SLA lifecycle, and pricing. Then, we explore the importance of SLA for cloud computing services related to both the cloud user and the service provider including the differences between SLA for cloud services and other Web services. Finally, we present a comparison between the current major cloud computing service providers in terms of SLA’s.
