Thi Thu Ha Nguyen,Hiep-Hung Pham,Ngoc Linh Dao,Hong Hanh Dao,Thi Thuy Nuong Duong,Thi Ha Chu The International Academy of Global Business and T 2023 The International Academy of Global Business and T Vol.19 No.6

Purpose - Based on the extended theory of planned behavior (TPB), this study aims to investigate the antecedents of online purchase behavior toward organic cosmetics for Generation Z (Gen Z) and Millennials by focusing on the impact of subjective norms, health consciousness, trust, attitude, and intention. Design/Methodology/Approach - A survey method using an online questionnaire was adopted to collect data from 341 Gen Z and Millennial consumers in Vietnam. The collected data were then analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). Findings - The results of the study showed that, among antecedents, that attitude has the strongest impact on the purchase intention of online customers toward organic cosmetics, followed by trust and subjective norms. Interestingly, health consciousness has also been found to significantly impact Gen Z and Millennial online purchase intention toward organic cosmetics. Research Implications - This paper extends the academic literature on purchase intention toward green products. More importantly, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is among the first to examine the antecedents of online purchase intention toward the organic cosmetics of Gen Z and Millennials in an emerging economy, Vietnam. The findings offer important implications for cosmetics companies, retailers, and other stakeholders to have deeper insights into factors influencing young Vietnamese consumer intentions toward purchasing organic beauty products online.

Childhood Obesity Is a High-risk Factor for Hypertriglyceridemia: A Case-control Study in Vietnam

Nguyen Thi Hong Hanh,Le Thi Tuyet,Duong Thi Anh Dao,Yang Tao,Dinh-Toi Chu 질병관리본부 2017 Osong Public Health and Research Persptectives Vol.8 No.2

Objectives: To investigate the relationship between dyslipidemia and obesity status among Vietnamese adolescents. Methods: In this case-control study, 282 adolescents (6–11 years), including 88 obese cases and 194 normal-weight controls, were recruited from a population-based cross-sectional study from two provinces in Vietnam. The anthropometric, blood lipid, and other laboratory test results of the study subjects were analyzed. Results: Obese children tended to have more visceral fat (Pearson’s r = 0.795, p < 0.0001) than subcutaneous fat (Pearson’s r = 0.754, p < 0.0001), and this difference was associated with an increase in blood triglyceride level (Pearson’s r = 0.232, p < 0.05) and a strikingly high rate of hypertriglyceridemia (38.6%). We also found that birth weight and parental body mass index were related to the status of obesity among the study subjects. However, only birth weight was significantly higher in the obese group than in the normal weight group. These findings indicate the effect of prenatal nutrition on childhood obesity. Furthermore, high-birth weight children had a surprisingly high rate of obesity. Conclusion: Together, our data suggest that obesity increased the risk for hypertriglyceridemia, which was, at least partially, due to prenatal nutrition.

Antibiotic-Resistant Gram-negative Bacteria Carriage in Healthcare Workers Working in an Intensive Care Unit

        Duong Bich Thuy,Duong Minh Cuong,Campbell James,Nguyen Van Minh Hoang,Nguyen Huu Hien,Bui Thi Bich Hanh,Nguyen Van Vinh Chau,McLaws Mary-Louise 대한감염학회 2021 Infection and Chemotherapy Vol.53 No.3

Little is known about antibiotic-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (GNB) intestinal carriage among healthcare workers (HCWs) in Vietnam. All HCWs at a tertiary intensive care units were asked to undertake weekly rectal swabs. Among 40 participants, 65% (26/40) carried extended spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL)/AmpC β-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli. Two HCWs colonized with ESBL/AmpC β-lactamase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae. One HCW colonized with Acinetobacter baumannii. No one carried Pseudomonas spp.. A quarter (10/40) of HCWs were identified as persistent and frequent carriers. There is an urgent need to screen antibiotic-resistant GNB among HCWs and improve HCWs’ hand hygiene compliance to reduce the transmission of antibiotic-resistant GNB in the hospital.

Large Magnetocaloric Effect above 300 K and Magnetoresistance in (La0.5Pr0.5)1-xPbxMnO3 Perovskites

Nguyen Chau,Duong Thi Hanh,Bui Cong Tinh,Nguyen Hoang Luong,Nguyen Duc Tho,Nguyen Hoang Hai 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.52 No.5

Perovskite compounds (La0.5Pr0.5)₁- xPbxMnO₃ (x = 0.1 - 0.5) with orthorhombic structure were prepared by using a solid-state reaction technique. In the studied samples, the spin-glass-like state occurs at low temperatures and the Curie temperature, Tc, increases from 170 K (x = 0.1) to 336 K (x = 0.5) because of a strong double exchange. The magnetic entropy change, │△Sm│, reached its largest value of 2.06 J/kg·K at △H = 13.5 kOe for the sample with x = 0.4 (Tc = 323 K). Due to the large │△Sm│ and high Tc, these materials are suggested for use as active magnetic refrigerants for magnetic refrigeration technology at temperatures above room temperature. While the conductivity of the samples with x = 0.1 and 0.2 exhibits only a semiconducting behavior over the whole measured temperature range, there is insulator-metallic phase transition on the R(T) curves of the samples with x = 0.3 - 0.5. The magnetoresistance of the samples was measured and large values for MR were found. Insulator-to-metal Transition and Magnetism of Potassium Metals Loaded into Regular Cages of Zeolite LSX

Takehito Nakano,Duong Thi Hanh,Akihiro Owaki,Yasuo Nozue,Nguyen Hoang Nam,Shingo Araki 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.63 No.3

Zeolite LSX (low-silica X) crystals have an aluminosilicate framework with regular supercagesand β-cages. They are arrayed in a double diamond structure. The loading density of guest Katoms per supercage (or β cage), n, can be controlled from 0 to ~ 9. At n < 2, samples are nearlynonmagnetic and insulating. The Curie constant has a clear peak at n = 3, and the electricalresistivity suddenly decreases simultaneously. The electrical resistivity suddenly decreases again atn = 6 and shows metallic phase at n > 6. These properties are explained by the polaron effectincluding the electron correlation. Ferrimagnetic properties are observed at n ~ 9. A remarkableincrease in the resistivity is observed at very low temperatures at n ~ 9, and is discussed in termsof the hypothesis of a Kondo insulator.

Exotic Magnetism of s-electron Cluster Arrays: Ferromagnetism, Ferrimagnetism and Antiferromagnetism

Takehito Nakano,Duong Thi Hanh,Yasuo Nozue,Nguyen Hoang Nam,Truong Cong Duan,Shingo Araki 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.63 No.3

Alkali metal nanoclusters can be stabilized in the regular cages of zeolite crystals by the loading ofguest alkali metals. Cages are connected by the sharing of windows of the framework, and arrayed insimple cubic, diamond and body centered cubic structures in zeolites A, X and sodalite, respectively. The s-electrons have the localized nature of nanoclusters with magnetic moments, and have mutualinteractions through the windows of cages. They show exotic magnetism depending on the structuretype of zeolites, the kind of alkali metals and the average loading density of alkali atoms per cage. In zeolite A, potassium clusters are formed in α-cages that have an inside diameter of 11 °A. Theyexhibit ferromagnetic properties explained by the canted antiferromagnetism of the Mott insulator, where the 1p-like degenerate orbitals of clusters play an essential role in the magnetic properties. Na-K alloy clusters generated at supercages and β-cages of low-silica X (LSX) zeolite exhibit N´eel’sN-type ferrimagnetism at specific loading densities of alkali metals. Alkali metal clusters in sodaliteshow the ideal Heisenberg antiferromagnetism of the Mott insulator.

Sex pheromone analysis and effective attraction of males of the cabbage webworm, Hellula undalis, inhabiting the Mekong Delta of Vietnam

        Le Van Vang,Tran Thanh Thy,Duong Kieu Hanh,Trieu Phuong Linh,Masanobu Yamamoto,Tetsu Ando 한국응용곤충학회 2020 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.23 No.4

Hellula undalis is a harmful insect pest of green mustard in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. In order to establish a tool for a sustainable pest control program, the sex pheromone of H. undalis inhabiting the Mekong Delta was examined. GC-EAD and GC–MS analyses of pheromone gland extracts from the virgin females elucidated three new components, (Z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate (Z11-14:OAc), (Z)-11-hexadecenal (Z11-16:Ald), and (11E,13E)-11,13-hexadecadien-1-ol, in addition to the known pheromone component (11E,13E)-11,13-hexadecadienal (E11,E13-16:Ald). Double bond positions of the two monoenyl components were determined by GC–MS analysis of the pheromone extract treated with dimethyl disulfide. On the other hand, GC–MS analysis of the female body extract detected the unsaturated hydrocarbon (3Z,6Z,9Z)-3,6,9-tricosatriene (Z3,Z6,Z9-23:H). Field examinations of their synthetic compounds indicated the significant role of E11,E13-16:Ald as a major component and a clear synergistic effect of the two monoenyl compounds as a minor component. Although the 3:3:7 mixture of Z11-14:OAc, E11-16:Ald, and E11,E13-16:Ald captured the largest number of males among the tested mixtures, the activity was still quite a bit lower than that of virgin females. However, the 3:3:7:1 mixture, which was prepared by adding a small amount of Z3,Z6,Z9-23:H to the 3:3:7 ternary lure, succeeded in attracting males more powerfully than the females did. This strong synergistic effect was not observed when the triene was added to unmixed E11,E13-16:Ald, indicating important roles of not only the triene but also the two monoenyl compounds as natural pheromone components.
