Purpose: Our primary aim was to elucidate the association between relative grip strength levels and the risk of developing diabetes, utilizing longitudinal data. Methods: A total of 1,935 participants in this study comprised general adults aged 51 to 81 years, who had engaged in the survey both in 2013–2014 and during the subsequent follow-up in 2019–2020. The criteria for diagnosing diabetes included receiving a diabetes diagnosis and treatment. grip strength was converted into relative grip strength by dividing it by body mass index. To validate the relationship between the interaction of relative grip strength and resting heart rate and its impact on risk of developing diabetes, a proportional hazards Cox regression model was used. Subsequently, we computed the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for risk of developing diabetes. Results: After adjusting for various confounding variables, we observed a significant 46% reduction in the risk of developing diabetes in the high relative grip strength group compared to the low relativegrip strength group (HR, 0.54; 95% CI, 0.36–0.80). However, upon additional adjustment for waist circumference, no significant findings could be yielded. Furthermore, we found significant differences the relationship between relative grip strength, resting heart rate, and the risk of developing diabetes among different groups. Conclusion: This study investigates the relationship between relative grip strength and incidence of diabetes, attributed to the accumulation of body fat. Notably, both resting heart rate and relative grip strength emerge as predictive indicators for assessing the risk of diabetes development.
중년 성인의 사회심리적 스트레스와 신체활동 유형과의 연관성: 지역사회 기반의 코호트 연구

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the associations between type of moderate-vigorous physical activities (MVPA) and psychological stress in South Korean, based on the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study. The subjects of this study were 2,891 Korean men and women aged 40 to 69, who completed health examination from 2011 to 2012. M ethods: The type of MVPA was measured by using self-reported physical activity questionnaire. A high psychological stress was determined by scoring Psychological Well-being Index Short Form (≥27). Logistic regression analysis, adjusting other confounding factors, was conducted to identify the association of type of MVPA level with psychological stress (p<0.05). Results: Participants who leisure-related MVPA of ≥150 min/week was less likely have to high psychological stress than <150 min/week (odds ratio [OR], 0.72; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.57–0.92). From the analysis of gender, leisure-related (OR, 0.50; 95% CI, 0.35–0.72) and work-related (OR, 0.63; 95% CI, 0.41–0.97) MVPA of ≥150 min/week were associated with low psychological stress in men, but women was not significantly associated. From the analysis of age, leisure-related MVPA of ≥150 min/week were associated with low psychological stress in middle age group (OR, 0.70; 95% CI, 0.53–0.92), but elderly group was not significantly associated. Differences in psychological stress OR according to type of MVPA time were observed about classification of occupations. Conclusion: High level of leisure related physical activity were independently associated with reducing risk for psychological stress. Also, encouraged MVPA by gender, age, classification of occupations could help to improve psychological stress levels in middle-aged or older adults.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>To evaluate candidate adsorbents for the recovery of nitrous oxide (N<SUB>2</SUB>O) from adipic acid off-gases, the equilibrium and kinetics of N<SUB>2</SUB>O and O<SUB>2</SUB> adsorption on activated carbon (AC) and of N<SUB>2</SUB>O, O<SUB>2</SUB>, and N<SUB>2</SUB> adsorption on a carbon molecular sieve (CMS) were evaluated at 293, 308, and 323 K under pressures up to 1000 kPa using a high-pressure volumetric system. Adsorption amount of N<SUB>2</SUB>O on AC and CMS exceeded those of N<SUB>2</SUB> and O<SUB>2</SUB>, and the adsorption isotherms for O<SUB>2</SUB> and N<SUB>2</SUB> were similar. The experimental N<SUB>2</SUB>O and O<SUB>2</SUB> uptakes on AC and CMS were fitted to a non-isothermal adsorption model, whereas the model was ineffective for predicting N<SUB>2</SUB> uptake on CMS. The isothermal dual-resistance model, considering surface barrier resistance and pore diffusion, adequately predicted N<SUB>2</SUB> uptake on CMS. The rate of adsorption of N<SUB>2</SUB>O on AC was much lower than that of O<SUB>2</SUB> and N<SUB>2</SUB> whereas the rate of adsorption on CMS flowed the order: O<SUB>2</SUB> > N<SUB>2</SUB>O ≫ N<SUB>2</SUB>, even though N<SUB>2</SUB>O has higher adsorption affinity and smaller kinetic diameter than O<SUB>2</SUB>. The Lewis structure of N<SUB>2</SUB>O was also found to influence the adsorption kinetics.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Adsorption of N<SUB>2</SUB>O on activated carbon and carbon molecular sieve was studied. </LI> <LI> The adsorbed amount of N<SUB>2</SUB>O on AC and CMS was much greater than those for O<SUB>2</SUB> and N<SUB>2</SUB>. </LI> <LI> The adsorption rate of N<SUB>2</SUB>O was slower than N<SUB>2</SUB> on AC, but much faster than N<SUB>2</SUB> on CMS. </LI> <LI> The adsorption rate of N<SUB>2</SUB>O was affected by the kinetic diameter and Lewis structure. </LI> </UL> </P>

A reliability test in a fossil power plant is carried out for 240 hours to guarantee its normal operation, after its construction. The purpose of this test is to examine if the parameters such as generating power, pressure, temperature, flow rate satisfy design criteria, and to precisely tune inadequate parameters. This paper presents the causes of the problems in the reliability test of Taean unit 7 and their solutions.

The environmental control systems used in educational facilities are diverse and obsolete. To provide safety for students and a pleasant learning environment, various systems are installed in learning spaces. In this study, on-site statistical surveys and energy consumption analyses were conducted in ten educational facilities in South Korea. Through awareness surveys of the persons in charge of education facilities, the energy conservation requirements were investigated. The system configuration was generalized according to the energy source, and through this, it was possible to determine the type of system used.
소수력발전기의 자동전압조정기 Fault에 의한 정지원인 분석

소수력 발전설비(1000㎾ 3대)가 연결되어 있는 22.9㎸ 선로상에서 순간적인 지락사고가 발생한 경우에 계통 보호계전기는 설비보호차원에서 지락과전류 보호요소에 대해 재폐로시간을 고려하지 않고 0.5초이내에 트립이 되도록 설정되어 있어 대부분의 선로고장에 대해서 민감하게 동작하고 있다. 2차례의 트립원인을 분석한 결과 순간적인 계통전압의 상승이 관찰되어 재기동하여 병입한 후 동일상황이 발생하는 상태에서 역률설정치를 낮추어 계통전압과 평형을 맞춤으로 해서 트립을 방지할 수 있었으며, 소수력의 자동전압조정기 Fault에 의한 정지원인 분석한 결과이다.
