This study was conducted to evaluate the hyaluronidase (HAase) inhibition activity of Asparagus cochinchinesis (AC) extracts following fermentation by Weissella cibaria through response surface methodology. To optimize the HAase inhibition activity, a central composite design was introduced based on four variables: the concentration of AC extract (X1: 1-5%), amount of starter culture (X2: 1-5%), pH (X3: 4-8), and fermentation time (X4: 0-10 days). The experimental data were fitted to quadratic regression equations, the accuracy of the equations was analyzed by ANOVA, and the regression coefficients for the surface quadratic model of HAase inhibition activity in the fermented AC extract were estimated by the F test and the corresponding p values. The HAase inhibition activity indicated that fermentation time was most significant among the parameters within the conditions tested. To validate the model, two different conditions among those generated by the Design Expert program were selected. Under both conditions, predicted and experimental data agreed well. Moreover, the content of protodioscin (a well-known compound related to anti-inflammation activity) was elevated after fermentation of the AC extract at the optimized fermentation condition.

<B>Purpose</B> - The purpose of this paper is to conduct the design, development and testing of a controller for an autonomous small-scale helicopter. <B>Design/methodology/approach</B> - The hardware in the loop simulation (HILS) platform is developed based on the nonlinear model of JR Voyager G-260 small-scale helicopter. Autonomous controllers are verified using the HILS environment prior to flight experiments. <B>Findings</B> - The gains of the multi-loop cascaded control architecture can be effectively optimized within the HILS environment. Various autonomous flight operations are achieved and it is demonstrated that the prediction from the simulations is in a good agreement with the result from the flight test. <B>Research limitations/implications</B> - The synthesized controller is effective for the particular test-bed. For other small-scale helicopters (with different size and engine specifications), the controller gains must be tuned again. <B>Practical implications</B> - This work represents a practical control design and testing procedures for an autonomous small-scale helicopter flight control. The autonomous helicopter can be used for various missions ranging from film making, agriculture and volcanic surveillance to power line inspection. <B>Originality/value</B> - The research addresses the need for systematic design, development and testing of controller for a small-scale autonomous helicopter by utilizing HILS environment.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>The effect of an ammonia plasma treatment on silicon nitride (SiNx) gate dielectrics for organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) with soluble organic semiconductors (OSCs) was studied. Our OTFTs were fabricated by using the soluble derivatives of Poly(bi-thiophene) as the p-type polymer semiconductor material and SiNx thin films with nitrogen oxygen (N2O) and ammonia (NH3) plasma treatments as the gate dielectric. To improve the performance and stability of the OTFT devices, we studied the basic mechanism of the plasma treatment on the SiNx gate dielectric and the gold (Au) electrode surface. The SiNx-OTFTs with a NH3 plasma treatment yielded the improved results in terms of a higher field-effect mobility (<I>μ</I>fe) of 0.06 cm2 V−1 S−1 with a lower interface charge trap density of 4.45 × 10−11 (cm2 eV)−1 and a lower contact resistance of 0.384 MΩ-cm. The repulsive force of the soluble OSC solvent was reduced at the edge of the source-drain (S-D) electrode due to the difference between the surface energies of the channel region and Au S-D electrodes.</P>

<P>Numerical simulations are carried out to investigate the applicability of resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) to KSTAR plasmas for a possible control of edge localized mode (ELM) to suppress or mitigate its damages to divertor materials. For the verification of the feasibility of RMP application, magnetic island configurations, resonant normal fields, magnetic island widths and Chirikov parameters are calculated for two types of KSTAR operation scenarios: steady state and hybrid. Field error correction (FEC) coils in KSTAR are considered to produce externally perturbed magnetic fields for RMP, and the directions of coil currents determine the toroidal mode <I>n</I> and the parity (even or odd). The RMP configurations are described by vacuum superposition of the equilibrium magnetic fields and the perturbed ones induced by FEC coils. The numerical simulations for <I>n</I> = 2 toroidal mode in both operation scenarios show that when the pitches of the equilibrium and perturbed magnetic fields are well aligned, magnetic islands are formed for a series of <I>m</I> poloidal modes and the adjacent islands are overlapped to generate a stochastic layer in the edge region. Even parity turns out to be more effective in making the magnetic islands overlapped to become stochastic field lines in the steady-state operation, while odd parity in the hybrid operation. The formation of the stochastic layer is verified by the calculated Chirikov parameters, which also give basic information on the current requirement of FEC coils. Additionally, lobe structures of stochastic field lines are found in the edge region extended to the divertor plate in the hybrid scenario. Based on the standard vacuum criteria for RMP, the simulation results indicate that the FEC coils will be feasible for control of ELMs and mitigation of divertor heat load by RMP in both steady-state and hybrid operation scenarios.</P>
A Method for Propagating Fuzzy Concepts throuth Fuzzy IF-THEN-ELSE Rules
Kim, Doohyun,Lim, Younghwan,Kim, Jin H. 한국경영과학회 1987 韓國經營科學會誌 Vol.12 No.2
This paper presents a method for propagating fuzzy concepts though fuzzy IF-THEN-ELSE rules. A fuzzy IF-THEN-ELSE rule consists of a set of fuzzy condition and conclusion pairs. These pairs assumed to contain informations about a fuzzy mapping from fuzzy concepts of condition parts to the fuzzy concepts of conclusion parts. Conventionally, vectors are used to define fuzzy concepts and matrices are used to define a fuzzy mapping between fuzzy conditions and conclusions. This approach, however, does not satisfy the existing condition property, i.e., when a fuzzy input data exactly matches to a fuzzy condition, fuzzy output data should be mapped to a corresponding fuzzy conclusion. Alternatively, we propose a parameterized approach in which every fuzzy concept is described by a parameterized standard function, including fuzzy conditions and fuzzy conclusions. A fuzzy IF-THEN-ELSE rule takes the parameterized fuzzy concept as an input, and produces a standard function with new parameters as an output. New parameters are determined by a parameterwise interpolation. That is, each output parameters are determined by interpolating parameters of the same class contained in fuzzy conclusions. Obviously, the proposed scheme always satisfies the existing condition property.
