      • Snake Venom: A Potent Anticancer Agent

Jain, Deepika,Kumar, Sudhir Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.10

Since cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and there is an urgent need to find better treatment. In recent years remarkable progress has been made towards the understanding of proposed hallmarks of cancer development and treatment. Treatment modalities comprise radiation therapy, surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and hormonal therapy. Currently, the use of chemotherapeutics remains the predominant option for clinical control. However, one of the major problems with successful cancer therapy using chemotherapeutics is that patients often do not respond or eventually develop resistance after initial treatment. This has led to the increased use of anticancer drugs developed from natural resources. The biodiversity of venoms and toxins makes them a unique source from which novel therapeutics may be developed. In this review, the anticancer potential of snake venom is discussed. Some of the included molecules are under clinical trial and may find application for anticancer drug development in the near future.

RP-HPLC method development using analytical QbD approach for estimation of cyanidin-3-O-glucoside in natural biopolymer based microcapsules and tablet dosage form

        Deepika Thakur,Ashay Jain,Gargi Ghoshal,U. S. Shivhare,O. P. Katare 한국약제학회 2017 Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation Vol.47 No.5

Anthocyanin has been proven to impart several health benefits and biological functions. Though, various analytical methods have been reported for single/multicomponent analysis of anthocyanins, found to be tedious, time consuming and difficult to reproduce. Analytical studies on specific anthocyanins for estimation using an approach of Analytical Quality by Design are scarce. USP method is only reliable for cyanidin-3-O-glucoside (CY-3- O-Glu) estimation, but exploring many disadvantage of having high buffer concentration in mobile phase system and gradient elution, hence column blockage. So there is need to develop a novel HPLC method to overcome this problem with the use organic solvents with lesser volume of buffer in isocratic mode of elution. The aim is to develop a robust and precise method for estimation of CY-3-O-Glu in biopolymer based microcapsules and tablets. The optimized method consisted of mobile phase containing solvent A and B, flow rate 0.8 mL/min with 20 min of analysis time. The method was further validated in accordance with current ICH guidelines Q2 (R1) and found to be highly selective for component in the presence of degradation products confirmed by Mass spectra. Therefore, the proposed method was found to be suitable for routine analysis of CY-3-O-Glu in food and pharmaceutical based formulations.

A Simple and Clean Synthesis of Polysubstituted 2,6-Dicyanoanilines Catalyzed by KF/alumina

        Jain, Shubha,Keshwal, Balwant S.,Rajguru, Deepika,Bhagwat, Vasant W. Korean Chemical Society 2012 대한화학회지 Vol.56 No.6

A simple and clean synthesis of polysubstituted 2,6-dicyanoanilines has been developed via the reaction of arylidenemalonodinitriles with 1-arylethylidenemalonodinitriles in ethanol catalyzed by KF/alumina. Use of non-hazardous solid base as a catalyst, operational simplicity and improved product yields are the key advantages of the present protocol.

Anticoagulation in Patients with End-Stage Renal Disease and Atrial Fibrillation: Confusion, Concerns and Consequences

        Narender Goel,Deepika Jain,Danny B. Haddad,Divya Shanbhogue 대한뇌졸중학회 2020 Journal of stroke Vol.22 No.3

End-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients have a higher prevalence of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, congestive heart failure and advanced age, along with an increased incidence of non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF), thereby increasing the risk for cerebrovascular accidents. Systemic anticoagulation is therefore recommended in patients with ESRD with AF to reduce the risk and complications from thromboembolism. Paradoxically, these patients are at an increased risk of bleeding due to great degree of platelet dysfunction and impaired interaction between platelet and endothelium. Currently, CHA2DS2-VASc and Hypertension, Abnormal liver/kidney function, Stroke, Bleeding, Labile INR, Elderly, Drugs or alcohol (HAS-BLED) are the recommended models for stroke risk stratification and bleeding risk assessment in patients with AF. There is conflicting data regarding benefits and risks of medications such as antiplatelet agents, warfarin and direct oral anticoagulants in ESRD patients with AF. Moreover, there is no randomized controlled trial data to guide the clinical decision making. Hence, a multi-disciplinary approach with annual re-evaluation of treatment goals and risk-benefit assessment has been recommended. In this article, we review the current recommendations with risks and benefits of anticoagulation in patients with ESRD with AF.

Operations on Dutch windmill graph of topological indices

V.Lokesha,Sushmitha Jain,T. Deepika,A. Sinan Cevik 장전수학회 2018 Proceedings of the Jangjeon mathematical society Vol.21 No.3

Topological indices are well studied in recent years. These are useful tools in studying Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship (QSAR) and Quantitative Structure Property Relationship (QSPR). The main goal of this paper is to concentrate the investigation on generalized version of Dutch windmill graph of certain graph operators in terms of topological indices, for instance, symmetric division deg index, rst and second Zagreb indices.
