Preprocessing for High Quality Real-time Imaging Systems by Low-light Stretch Algorithm
Ngo, Dat,Kang, Bongsoon Institute of Korean Electrical and Electronics Eng 2018 전기전자학회논문지 Vol.22 No.3
Consumer demand for high quality image/video services led to growing trend in image quality enhancement study. Therefore, recent years was a period of substantial progress in this research field. Through careful observation of the image quality after processing by image enhancement algorithms, we perceived that the dark region in the image usually suffered loss of contrast to a certain extent. In this paper, the low-light stretch preprocessing algorithm is, hence, proposed to resolve the aforementioned issue. The proposed approach is evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively against the well-known histogram equalization and Photoshop curve adjustment. The evaluation results validate the efficiency and superiority of the low-light stretch over the benchmarking methods. In addition, we also propose the 255MHz-capable hardware implementation to ease the process of incorporating low-light stretch into real-time imaging systems, such as aerial surveillance and monitoring with drones and driving aiding systems.

Haze removal is an object of scientific desire due to its various practical applications. Existing algorithms arefounded upon histogram equalization, contrast maximization, or the growing trend of applying machine learning inimage processing. Since machine learning-based algorithms solve problems based on the data, they usuallyperform better than those based on traditional image processing/computer vision techniques. However, to achievesuch a high performance, one of the requisites is a large and reliable training database, which seems to beunattainable owing to the complexity of real hazy and haze-free images acquisition. As a result, researchers arecurrently using the synthetic database, obtained by introducing the synthetic haze drawn from the standarduniform distribution into the clear images. In this paper, we propose the enhanced equidistribution, improving uponour previous study on equidistribution, and use it to make a new database for training machine learning-basedhaze removal algorithms. A large number of experiments verify the effectiveness of our proposed methodology

Background: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most frequent mesenchymal neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract. Management of GIST patients is currently based on clinicopathological features and associated genetic changes. However, the detailed characteristics and molecular genetic features of GISTs have not yet been described in the Vietnamese population. Methods: We first identified 155 patients with primary GIST who underwent surgery with primary curative intent between 2011 and 2014 at University Medical Center at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. We evaluated the clinicopathological features and immunohistochemical reactivity to p53 and Ki-67 in these patients. Additionally, KIT genotyping was performed in 100 cases. Results: The largest proportion of GISTs was classified as high-risk (43.2%). Of the 155 GISTs, 52 (33.5%) were positive for Ki-67, and 58 (37.4%) were positive for p53. The expression of Ki-67 and p53 were correlated with mitotic rate, tumor size, risk assessment, and tumor stage. Out of 100 GIST cases, KIT mutation was found in 68%, of which 62 (91.2%) were found in exon 11, two (2.9%) in exon 9, and four (5.8%) in exon 17. No mutation in exon 13 was identified. Additionally, KIT mutations did not correlate with any clinicopathological features. Conclusions: The expression of Ki-67 and p53 were associated with high-risk tumors. Mutations in exon 11 were the most commonly found, followed by exon 17 and exon 9. Additionally, KIT mutation status was not correlated with any recognized clinicopathological features.

Dehaze is essential for autonomous driving and intelligent CCTV to operate normally even in foggy weather. The method of airlight estimation is particularly important in dehaze technology. In this paper, we propose a patch-based airlight estimation algorithm and hardware structure that can reduce the amount of unnecessary computation and effectively estimate the airlight in various input images. Proposed algorithm is compared with the popular quad-tree method, and the hardware design is implemented by using XILINX’s xc7z045-ffg900 target board as a structure that can satisfy to international standard 4K video in real time.

The study aims to investigate factors affecting enterprise's satisfaction and loyalty toward the Social Security's online public services, looking at the case of Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam. This study employs samples with 216 enterprises that use online public system of Thanh Hoa province's Social Security. The research model is closely linked to the SERVQUAL model developed by Parasuraman, Zeithaml and Berry (1988). We propose 23 scales that constitute the quality of service, three scales that constitute Customer Satisfaction and three components that constitute Customer Loyalty. This study use the tool of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Cronbach's Alpha test, Confirm Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) in order to address the question of satisfaction and loyalty. The result shows that the factor with the most impact is Reliability, next is Capacity of staffs, Tangibles, Attitude of staffs, and the least impacting factor is Empathy; moreover, the results also show that Satisfaction has a strong impact on Customer Loyalty. The findings of this study suggest that Thanh Hoa province's Social Security should: (i) strengthen the reliability of online service system; (ii) build capacity for staffs; (iii) develop the responsiveness of electronic transactions systems; and (iv) improve the empathy of staffs.

This paper presents a method of improving accuracy in designing impedance matching network for Acousto-Optic Tunable Filters (AOTF) by considering the effect of wire connection. The measured gain S21 of implemented impedance matching network has a BW- 6dB of 49% from 17.54 to 28.95 MHz by applying this method.

Worker location estimation plays an important role in reducing the amount of time for rescue operations when an incident occurs, thus improves worker safety. In this paper, we address the problem of estimating the current location of a worker in the working sites, given his/her historical location records. A large-scale dataset of Wi-Fi traces is used to train and test the proposed model.
