      • V2I Based Intersection Scheduling Algorithm

Dan Shao,Jianan Wu,Chao Fu 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Smart Home Vol.10 No.4

Sharp acceleration/deceleration at intersection increases fuel consumption of vehicles, and keeping smooth velocity can save time and oil for drivers. In this paper, we proposed a novel scheduling model based on vehicular ad-hoc networks and autonomous driving system, including vehicle motion, traffic light control and others. Vehicles communicate proactively with traffic lights when approaching to intersections and then transmit required information for scheduling. After summarizing all information about vehicles on different directions, traffic light makes a scheduling decision and distributes a time-slice to vehicle applicants. Simulations show that the proposed model is better than the traditional model in saving time, reducing fuel consumption and improving traffic efficiency.

The Prognostic Value of 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose PET/CT in the Initial Assessment of Primary Tracheal Malignant Tumor: A Retrospective Study

        Shao Dan,Gao Qiang,Cheng You,Du Dong-Yang,Wang Si-Yun,Wang Shu-Xia 대한영상의학회 2021 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.22 No.3

Objective: To investigate the potential value of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET/CT in predicting the survival of patients with primary tracheal malignant tumors. Materials and Methods: An analysis of FDG PET/CT findings in 37 primary tracheal malignant tumor patients with a median follow-up period of 43.2 months (range, 10.8–143.2 months) was performed. Cox proportional hazards regression analyses were used to assess the associations between quantitative 18F-FDG PET/CT parameters, other clinic-pathological factors, and overall survival (OS). A risk prognosis model was established according to the independent prognostic factors identified on multivariate analysis. A survival curve determined by the Kaplan-Meier method was used to assess whether the prognosis prediction model could effectively stratify patients with different risks factors. Results: The median survival time of the 37 patients with tracheal tumors was 38.0 months, with a 95% confidence interval of 10.8 to 65.2 months. The 3-year, 5-year and 10-year survival rate were 54.1%, 43.2%, and 16.2%, respectively. The metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG), maximum standardized uptake value, age, pathological type, extension categories, and lymph node stage were included in multivariate analyses. Multivariate analysis showed MTV (p = 0.011), TLG (p = 0.020), pathological type (p = 0.037), and extension categories (p = 0.038) were independent prognostic factors for OS. Additionally, assessment of the survival curve using the Kaplan-Meier method showed that our prognosis prediction model can effectively stratify patients with different risks factors (p < 0.001). Conclusion: This study shows that 18F-FDG PET/CT can predict the survival of patients with primary tracheal malignant tumors. Patients with an MTV > 5.19, a TLG > 16.94 on PET/CT scans, squamous cell carcinoma, and non-E1 were more likely to have a reduced OS.

      • Comparison of Micro- and Macro-Characteristics of Vehicular Mobility Models

        Dan Shao,Guangmin Liang,Shaoqiang Wang 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of u- and e- Service, Scienc Vol.8 No.6

Simulation methodology is preferred approach to test vehicular networking protocols and to perform overhead analysis compared to high affordability and inconvenience of the real testbed. The confidence of simulation results is greatly dependent on the adoptive mobility model, i.e. whether or not the vehicular mobility modeling could reproduce the real vehicle moving pattern and could capture the intrinsic spatial as well as temporal relationships among vehicles. From the perspective of macro- and micro-scale, this paper proposes a series of statistical characteristics to assess whether the existing mobility models reflect a regular pattern. Micro-characteristics cover individual statistics, including driving duration time, driving distance, parking duration time, and link holding time. Simulations show that diverse mobility models share similar micro-characteristics in the complementary cumulative distribution function, but still display innegligible differences in distribution curves. Macro-characteristics refer to overall correlations, such as average velocity, total driving distance, total driving time, average neighbors' degree, and average accelerating time. Results show that the investigated mobility models behave with similar phase transition, but with different critical transition points. Marco-statistics follow Poisson distribution, but with completely different average values. The work is expected to help researchers better understand simulations and design context-aware vehicular algorithms.

The Soft Material Obtained from an Europium (III)-Containing Ionic Liquid

Shao, Huifang,Wang, Yige,Li, Dan Korean Chemical Society 2011 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.32 No.3

The addition of organic ligand (${\beta}$-diketone or heterocyclic compound) to the europium (III)-containing ionic liquid resulted in bright luminescent soft materials with the molar ratio of europium/ionic liquid (IL)/ligand being 1:3:1 that exhibit bright red light under UV lamp. The luminescent properties such as emission features and lifetime of $^5D_0$ $Eu^{3+}$ excited level are dependent on the organic ligands. The materials were characterized by FT-IR and luminescence spectroscopy. The data shows that at least parts of the ILs (carboxylic acid) are replaced with ${\beta}$-diketone ligand rather than the formation of europium complex with the molar ratio of $Eu^{3+}$:IL: ligand being 1:3:1, while no ILs could be replaced by the heterocyclic ligand such as Bpy and Phen.

Key role of peptidoglycan on acrylamide binding by lactic acid bacteria

        Dan Zhang,Wei Liu,Liang Li,Hong-Yu Zhao,Hong-Yang Sun,Ming-Han Meng,Sheng Zhang,Mei-Li Shao 한국식품과학회 2017 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.26 No.1

The primary purpose of this study was to analyze the ability of four peptidoglycan (PGN) from different lactic acid bacteria to bind acrylamide (AA) and to identify the binding mechanism. In this study, to clarify the possible binding interactions among AA and components of PGN, chemical components, surface structure, amino acids component, and functional groups of peptidoglycans were studied. It was found that PGN from Lactobacillus plantarum 1.0065 had the highest ability to bind AA with 87%. Furthermore, a significant positive relation was found between the carbohydrate content of PGN and percentage of bind AA, and the content of four specific amino acids of PGN and AA binding ability were also positive correlated. Thereinto, alanine of PGN had a significant impact on AA binding among four amino acids. Additionally, the C–O (carboxyl, polysaccharides, and arene), C=O amide, and N–H amines groups of PGN were involved in AA binding.

      • On the snap-buckling phenomenon in nanocomposite curved tubes

        Dan Chen,Jun Shao,Zhengrong Xu,Hadi Babaei 국제구조공학회 2024 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.89 No.1

The nonlinear snap-through buckling of functionally graded (FG) carbon nanotube reinforced composite (CNTRC) curved tubes is analytically investigated in this research. It is assumed that the FG-CNTRC curved tube is supported on a threeparameter nonlinear elastic foundation and is subjected to the uniformly distributed pressure and thermal loads. Properties of the curved nanocomposite tube are distributed across the radius of the pipe and are given by means of a refined rule of mixtures approach. It is also assumed that all thermomechanical properties of the nanocomposite tube are temperature-dependent. The governing equations of the curved tube are obtained using a higher-order shear deformation theory, where the traction free boundary conditions are satisfied on the top and bottom surfaces of the tube. The von Kármán type of geometrical non-linearity is included into the formulation to consider the large deflection in the curved tube. Equations of motion are solved using the twostep perturbation technique for nanocomposite curved tubes which are simply-supported and clamped. Closed-form expressions are provided to estimate the snap-buckling resistance of FG-CNTRC curved pipes rested on nonlinear elastic foundation in thermal environment. Numerical results are given to explore the effects of the distribution pattern and volume fraction of CNTs, thermal field, foundation stiffnesses, and geometrical parameters on the instability of the curved nanocomposite tube.

Traditional Chinese Medicine as a Remedy for Male Infertility: A Review

Shao Hu Zhou,Yu Fei Deng,Zhi Wei Weng,Hao Wei Weng,Zhi Dan Liu 대한남성과학회 2019 The World Journal of Men's Health Vol.37 No.2

Male infertility (MI) is a complex multifactorial disease, and idiopathic infertility accounts for 30% of cases of MI. At present, the evidence for the effectiveness of empirical drugs is limited, and in vitro fertilization is costly and may increase the risk of birth defects and childhood cancers. Therefore, affected individuals may feel obliged to pursue natural remedies. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) may represent a useful option for infertile men. It has been demonstrated that TCM can regulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis and boost the function of Sertoli cells and Leydig cells. TCM can also alleviate inflam-mation, prevent oxidative stress, reduce the DNA fragmentation index, and modulate the proliferation and apoptosis of germ cells. Furthermore, TCM can supply trace elements and vitamins, ameliorate the microcirculation of the testis, decrease the levels of serum anti-sperm antibody, and modify epigenetic markers. However, the evidence in favor of TCM is not compel-ling, which has hindered the development of TCM. This review attempts to elucidate the underlying therapeutic mechanisms of TCM. We also explore the advantages of TCM, differences between TCM and Western medicine, and problems in existing studies. Subsequently, we propose solutions to these problems and present perspectives for the future development of TCM.

Characteristics and Impact Factors of Renal Threshold for Glucose Excretion in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

        Xiao-Dan Yue,Jing-Yu Wang,Xin-Rong Zhang,Ju-Hong Yang,Chun-Yan Shan,Miao-Yan Zheng,Hui-Zhu Ren,Yi Zhang,Shao-Hua Yang,Zhen-Hong Guo,Bai Chang,Bao-Cheng Chang 대한의학회 2017 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.32 No.4

Sodium glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors are newly developed but promising medicine for type 2 diabetes. However, patients with a different renal threshold for glucose excretion (RTG) may have a different reaction to this medicine. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the characteristics of RTG and its impact factors in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The clinical and laboratory data of 36 healthy individuals and 168 in-hospital patients with T2DM were collected and analyzed, RTG was calculated using blood glucose (BG) measured by dynamic BG monitoring, urinary glucose excretion (UGE) and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). The characteristics of RTG were investigated. The risk factors for high RTG were analyzed using non-conditional logistic regression analysis. Our results found that RTG of the T2DM group was higher than that of the healthy individuals (P < 0.05); and 22.22% from the healthy individuals group but 58.33% from the T2DM group had high RTG. Age, duration of diabetes, body mass index (BMI), and homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) were independently associated with high RTG (P < 0.05). Further stratified analysis revealed that RTG in T2DM patients increased with age, duration of diabetes, and BMI. In conclusion, RTG is increased in patients with T2DM, especially in those with longer diabetic duration, higher BMI, and those who are older. Therefore, these patients may be more sensitive to SGLT-2 inhibitors.
