Development of Agricultural Task Assessment in Korea

The existing ergonomics assessment tools have some limits on assessing agricultural activities, because most of them were developed to aim at workers in manufacturing business. Farms, in comparison with the other type of business, work in poor surroundings, and they are under financial and psychosocial stress because of its labor-intensive characteristic. The stress levels might be high. The aim of this study is unifying checklists of upper (AULA: Agricultural Upper-Limb Assessment) and lower (ALLA: Agricultural Lower-Limb Assessment) extremity from the previous studies, we will develop the Whole-body ergonomic assessment tool considering farm work. This study will suggest a whole body checklist, unifying ergonomics upper and lower extremity checklists from the previous studies. It is designed to be able to analyze working hours as well as work postures, and calculate total degrees of each risk by evaluating the upper and lower limb.
Rim1α and Neurexin3 Regulate Synaptosomal Dopamine Release

신경전달물질의 분비는 시냅스전 신경말단의 active zone에 있는 다양한 단백질들에 의해 조절된다. 도파민은 정신분열병, 약물중독과 같은 여러 가지 행동, 정신질환의 병태생리와 연관된 필수적인 신경전달물질이다. 저자들은 본 연구에서 신경전달물질 분비와 관련된 주요 유전자가 결여된 knockout (KO) 생쥐의 시냅토좀(synaptosome) 도파민 분비를 측정하였다. 시냅토좀 도파민 흡수와 분비는 [³H]-도파민과 관류실험을 이용하여 시행, 측정하였다. 17 KO 생쥐 가운데 3 종류의 생쥐에서 그들의 littermate 대조군과 비교하였을 때 변화된 도파민 분비를 보였다. Rim1α KO에서 세포막 탈분극에 의한 [³H]-도파민은 유의하게 감소되었으며, 또한 Rim1α의 도파민 신경에서의 조건 KO에서는 생리적 완충용액에 의한 기본적인 도파민 분비 및 세포막 탈분극에 의한 도파민 분비 모두가 유의하게 감소되어 있었다. neurexin3의 도파민 신경에서의 조건 KO에서는 세포막 탈분극에 의한 도파민 분비의 증가를 보였다. 이 데이터들은 도파민 분비와 글루타메이트, GABA와 같은 전통적 신경전달물질 분비의 유사성과 차별성을 설명한다. 결론적으로, Rim1α와 neurexin3는 시냅스전 도파민 분비의 중요한 조절자이며 신경계 질환과 연관될 가능성이 있다. Neurotransmitter release is regulated by various proteins of the active zone in the presynaptic nerve terminals. Dopamine (DA) is an essential neurotransmitter associated with the pathophysiology of diverse behavioral and mental illness such as schizophrenia and drug addiction. We measured synaptosomal DA release of knockout (KO) mice which lacked major genes related to neurotransmitter release. Synaptosomal DA uptake and release were performed and measured using [³H]-DA and superfusion experiments. 3 of the 17 KO mice exhibited altered DA release compared to their littermate controls. In Rim1α KO, [³H]-DA release evoked by membrane depolarization significantly decreased. Both basal (physiological buffer-evoked) and membrane depolarization-evoked DA release significantly decreased in dopaminergic conditional KO of Rim1αβ. Dopaminergic conditional KO of neurexin3 demonstrated a significant increase of membrane depolarization-evoked DA release. These data explain the similarities and distinctions between DA and other classical neurotransmitters such as glutamate and GABA (γ-aminobutyric acid) release. In conclusion, Rim1α and neurexin3 may be important regulators of presynaptic DA release and related to disorders of the nervous system.
시체 손 실험연구를 이용한 손 내부 건의 힘과 외부 악력과의 관련성 연구

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between internal tendon exertion and external total grip strength through the cadaver hands experiment. Background: Many previous studies have been conducted to accurately measure the strength of the internal muscles of the human body, but there have been many difficulties in research, including the supply and demand of cadaver hands and the establishment of systems for data collection. Method: The donated four fresh cadaver hands were used, and the Cadaver Finger Force Measurement (CFM) system was developed to control the strength of the hand muscles. Grip span (4 levels: 45, 50, 55, 60mm), total tendon force (3 levels: 70, 105, 140N), and tendon force ratio (1:1, 1:1.5, 1:2, 1:3) were selected as independent variables, and total grip strength and internal tendon force/external force ratio (I/E ratio) were selected as dependent variables. Results: Grip span 55 and 60mm had a total grip strength of 28.8N and 27.5N, respectively, showing a relatively larger (approximately 15%) than 24.7N and 24.3N of 45mm and 50mm, respectively. The total grip strength for tendon forces showed the lowest total grip strength (19.0N) at 70N and the largest total grip strength (33.7N) when increased to 140N tendon force. The I/E ratio according to grip span was low in 55mm and 60mm grip span, and the ratio was relatively high in 45mm and 50mm grip span. The I/E ratio based on total tendon was the lowest (3.9) at tendon force of 70N and the highest at tendon force of 4.5 at 140N. Conclusion: It was confirmed that the external force of the hand grows together as the internal force (tendon exertion) increases, and that the rate of increase also depends on the magnitude of the external force. Application: The findings of this study provide useful insights and information for understanding the relationship between the external force of the hand and the force of the internal muscles that exert various grip or force.

In a previous study, we demonstrated that cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) is overexpressed in Korean patients having oral cancer. The goal of this study was to study whether KO-202125 (KO), a sauristolactam derivative in KB human oral squamous carcinoma cells, inhibits the activity of COX-2 enzyme and induces apoptotic cell death. In this study, it was shown that KO inhibited COX-2 mRNA and protein and its catalytic activity (prostaglandin E2), but not COX-1. The antiproliferative effect of KO on KB cells was also examined. The results showed that KO significantly decreased the number of viable cells and showed morphological changes in a concentration-dependent manner. The decrease in cell number was associated with apoptotic cell death evidenced by cleaved poly ADP ribose polymerase (PARP), nuclear fragmentation, sub-G1 population and annexin V positivity. Interestingly, KO is more potent than celecoxib, which is a well-known selective COX-2 inhibitor, although more studies are needed to prove it. Altogether, these results show that KO can act as a potent antioral cancer drug candidate by regulating COX-2 activity.
특성곡선법을 이용한 단기통 디젤엔진의 비정상 가스유동 해석

As environmental pollution reduction devices were installed in diesel engines, a gas flow analysis of intake and exhaust systems is required. A gas flow analysis in 3D format needs a high-resolution workstation and enormous time for analysis. Therefore, the method of characteristics was used for a gas flow analysis with a fast calculation time and a low-resolution workstation. An experiment was conducted on single cylinder diesel engine to measure cylinder pressure and exhaust pipe pressure. In order to validate a gas flow analysis using the method of characteristics, the results analyzed under the same conditions as the experiment were compared. As the results of the analysis using the method of characteristics, the cylinder pressure showed accuracy; however, the exhaust pipe pressure was inaccurate. In the future, the shortcomings of the analysis using the method of characteristics will be supplemented by using the 1D-3D coupling method.
