      • The HBV DNA Amounts in Serum Have No relationship with ALT level and Hetergeneous Population Coexits in Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection

Proceedings of International Symposium on East-West Medicine, Seoul. 212-230, 1999. -Hepatitis B is caused by hepadnavirus. Hepatitis B virus replicates through 3.5kb pregenomic RNA intermediate which is regulated by core promoter. Pathogenesis of hepatitis B virus has been bilieved the result of host immune response. But recently many studies have reported that high level of viral replication caused by mutation in core promoter might result in severs hepatitis. But these studies were performed in vitro, not in vivo. So there is yet debate about which factor, viral of host factor, is more important in pathogenesis of hepatitis B virus. So we measured real viral replication level in 204 chronic hepatitis B patients by quantifying HBV DNA from sera by our novel PCR-based more sensitive method, and compared these results with ALT level measured from same sera, which indicates liver cell damage. Surprisingly there are no significant correlation between HBV DNA quantity and ALT level. Then we cloned core promoter region. In SSCP, we found that many viral mutants coexist in one patient. Base on SSCP result, we chose main viral core promoter type in each patients, which is thought to determine overall viral replication level in this patient. Main type of core promoter region of each 41 patients were directly sequenced. And with these we measured promoter activity by luciferase assay system and compared promoter activity with on another. We found tha there were some differences in promoter activity according to core promoter sequences. And we constructed replication-competent viral constructs with core promoter from 41 patients and Transfected these into HepG2 cell and measured HBV DNA by southern blot. There were also differences in HBV DNA quantity according to core promoter sequences. On these all results we investigated correlation between the effect of HBV core promoter on viral replication in vitro and HBN DNA quantity, ALT level from sera of each patients. We found there is no significant correlation among them. As a result, we concluded that in determining severity chronic hepatitis B patients, host factors of each patient is more important rather than replicative activity of virus itself.

        The College of Engineering was specialized to have a sole function for supplying technical high school teachers in 1977 and referred to as the College of Industrial Education according to the Government's policy. The economic impact mainly due to the oil-crises caused a severe problem to this college, namely discrepancy of supply to demand scale. Accordingly the number of student enrollment was to be fluctuated from 479 in 1979 through 800 in 1979 and 900 in 1980 to 430 in 1981. And the engineering departments have been attached to this Engineering Education College since 1981. These circumstanses met singnificant inefficiency in facility operation. This program aims at providing an overall relocation of the college facilities and preparing the practical system to make the joint-operation possible taking into account circulation, academic stream, budget, maintenance, etc. However this study could not get optimal spacing but some trade-off, considering the current situation.

        Physical properties of waterborne soft feel coatings for instrument panel were investigated. Soft feel coatings give warm and velvet touch for cold and hard plastic materials. Waterborne soft feel coating is composed with two parts. Part A contains polyester polyurethane dispersion (PE-PUD), OH-functional water dispersible polyurethane resin (PC-PUD) and OH-functional water dispersible alkyd resin (OH-PA). Part B contains hydrophilic hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer (HHDI). Soft feeling of coated panel was related with the amounts of PC-PUD and OH-PA. The physical properties of coated panel could be controlled by the NCO/OH ratio from Part A and Part B. Soft feeling was enhanced with relevant to PE-PUD content but the content of PE-PUD was limited because of weakening of coated film strength. For excellent touch and good property, the optimum composition of soft feel coat was PC-PUD(30%) and PE-PUD(20%). The results from all reliability tests satisfied soft feeling, scratch, chemical resistance and fogging.

Kim Chum-Chu visited to the T'ang kingdom of ehina. He btought back a chines system with different colors for the different social sanks. This system confinued until the end of the Yi dyfferent social sanks. There was two cwstume systemes in Korean history beeause the uppet classdressed according to the Chinese costume while the lawer class wore the traditional Korean style.

      • 古代 服飾 硏究 Ⅳ : 古代 Rome 中心으로 for Rome

        The purpose of the study was to inter-relate the costume and culture of ancient Rome to her neighbouring countries to find a chronological survey of the development of clothing. The study show that ancient Roman culture was established on the basis of the ancient Greek culture but the culture of Etruria and Egypt and other northern Europe countries also influenced to the Roman culture in many ways. The findings are (1) the basic Roman costume was draped garments but later tailoring technique was developed, (2) the social hierachy and symbolism were closely related to the costume and (3) the clothing life of this area was strictly governed by the sumptuary low.

        Autonomous objects have capabilities of navigating through the underlying network and performing various tasks at each node. By these powerful capabilities they can be applied to several distributed application areas. Tn this paper, we propose a method for on-line maintenance of distributed software systems by using autonomous objects. In our method, multi-version computation techniques are applied. We think it is very feasible for on-line distributed software maintenance.

      • 光州地方의 酸性降雨에 관한 硏究

        In this report, for Kwangju I shall discuss the relationship between precipitation and the pH. I shall look at the air pollutant and the pH. Data from this study for precipitation and the air pollutant were observed by KMA and YEA. The precipitation and the air pollutant were observed and recorded every hour from 1991 to 1995. Results : Annual mean pH was 5.6. The pH for November and the pH between January and May were 5.6 or less. The rate of acid rainy day in annual mean precipitation days was 48.1%. The occurrence of acid rain was more than 50%. The data shows that half of all rain in a year, was acid rain. The mean pH for March was 5.4 and there were 18 times acid rain occurred among 26 rainy times. This shows that rate of acid rain reaches 69%, it is a serious problem. The acidity is highest in the spring time and then followed in order by fall, winter and summer. The mean pH of precipitation in spring is 5.5, it means low level of acid rain. Daily variation of the pH doesn't have any special meaning. The pH in the afternoon is generally low and the highest pH level of acid rain was 4, which was observed between 19:00 and 21:00 on the 10th of March, 1991. The pH interannual variation of rain had a tendency to be high in 1992. But in 1995, the amplitude of the pH was large, so we can expect a high pH level of acid rain. As precipitation amount grews, the pH of precipitation tended to be low. Although, there is a little corelation(r=0.106) between frequency of acid rain and amount of rain. The lasting of rain for long periods raised the frequency of acid rain and standardized the pH. As the temperature goes up, consistency of pollutant also went up. But it is more reasonable to assume that consistency was raised by human activity. The temperature effect on the acidity of rain is minimal. NO_2 (r=0.205) is the primary effector on the acidity of rain, and then fellowed in order by SO_2 (r=0.118), TSP (r=0.019). However in fact, TSP has little influence on the acidity of rain.

        The purpose of this paper is to give basic data which could be used for re-construction textbooks according to real situation of school in teaching, and could help to write new textbooks. For this study, five kinds of Science textbooks Ⅰ on the 5th curriculum and eight kinds of science textbooks Ⅰ on the 6th curriculum were selected as an analytical material. The methods of study are as follows; We analyzed and compared respectively with Githic type, Figure, Table, Research, Question, Experiment, Observation, Exercise and so forth in eight kinds of Sience textbooks Ⅰ and in average values of five kinds of textbook on the 5th curriculum. 1. The kinds of the Science textbook based on the 6th curriculum and 5th curriculum were respectively 8 and 5. 2. The quantity of new textbooks were much the same as the old textbooks, except for C and H textbooks. 3. It was found out that new textbooks decreased more than old textbooks in number of page of theory and explanation. 4. The number of Gothic type term was showed more Chapter Ⅰ and Ⅱthan other chapter in old and new science textbooks. 5. Figure and Table have intrinsic character-respectively. 6. The number of Study and Figure were unchanged as compared with old textbooks. but its of Table were decreased. 7. The number of Question was also unchanged, but it had almost subjective. 8. The kinds and numbers of experiments were increased as compared with old textbooks, and they had instinctive character respectively. From these analytical results of new science textbooks, we, that is, science teachers should select science textbook well and we should supply a thing of insufficiecy on science textbook in teaching.
