This paper reports handover latency of IPv6 over IEEE 802.16 network by field trials. We impleneted and verified IPv6 protocol over WiBro which is one of the IEEE 802.16e profiles. This works supported by MIC of Korea.

This paper examines a simple one-step and catalyst-free method for synthesizing carbon nanoparticles from aliphatic alcohols and n-hexane with linear molecule formations by using a stable solution plasma process with a bipolar pulse and an external resistor. When the external resistor is adopted, it is observed that the current spikes are dramatically decreased, which induced production of a more stable discharge. Six aliphatic linear alcohols (methanol- hexanol) containing carbon with oxygen sources are studied as possible precursors for the massive production of carbon nanoparticles. Additional study is also carried out with the use of n-hexane containing many carbons without an oxygen source in order to enhance the formation of carbon nanoparticles and to eliminate unwanted oxygen effects. The obtained carbon nanoparticles are characterized with field emission-scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. The results show that with increasing carbon ratios in alcohol content, the synthesis rate of carbon nanoparticles is increased, whereas the size of the carbon nanoparticles is decreased. Moreover, the degree of graphitization of the carbon nanoparticles synthesized from 1-hexanol and n-hexane with a high carbon (C)/oxygen (O) ratio and low or no oxygen is observed to be greater than that of the carbon nanoparticles synthesized from the corresponding materials with a low C/O ratio.
Ischemic colitis is generally considered a disease of the elderly. The causes of ischemic colitis include low-flow states due to cardiac dysfunction or hypovolemia and certain medications including estrogen. Here we report a case of ischemic colitis in a 26-year-old woman. She had no specific medical history except taking oral-contraceptives for a long time. The mechanism of estrogen-induced ischemic colitis is not clearly understood. But we recommend that oral-contraceptives should be considered as a cause of ischemic colitis in young women.
AP2/EREBP gene family consists of transcription factor genes with a conserved AP2 DNA-binding domain and is involved in various biological processes. AP2/EREBP gene families were identified through genome-wide searches in five Cucurbitaceae species including cucumber, wild cucumber, melon, watermelon, and bitter gourd, which consisted of more than 100 genes in each of the five species. The gene families were further divided into five groups including four subfamilies (ERF, DREB, AP2 and RAV) and a soloist group. Among the subfamilies, DREB subfamily which is known to be related to abiotic stress response was more analyzed and a total of 25 genes were identified as Cucurbitaceae homologues of Arabidopsis CBF/DREB1 genes which are important for abiotic stress-response and tolerance. In silico expression profiling using RNA-Seq data revealed diverse expression patterns of cucumber AP2/EREBP genes. AP2/EREBP gene families identified in this study will be valuable for understanding the stress response mechanism as well as facilitating molecular breeding in Cucurbitaceae crops.

Background: Asthma is a disease with a prevalence of more than 300 million people worldwide, with 420,000 asthma patients deaths in 2018. Asthma patients mortality rates continue to decline in Korea, but the second-highest among OECD countries. In the past study, the study mainly defined the definition of asthma based on clinical diagnosis such as history, not the spirometry-based diagnosis. Therefore, this study was conducted to define asthma based on appropriate diagnosis criteria and to compare the cause of death and mortality of asthma patients. Methods: We reviewed retrospectively patients who underwent bronchodilator response or Provocation test from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2017, and finally 3397 patients were analyzed. Asthma was defined as a positive bronchodilator response or a provocation test at least once in the period, and the control group was defined as having both tests result in bronchodilator response & provocation test and each negative results in bronchodilator response and provocation test In the asthma group, the first day with a positive bronchodilator response or provocation test was defined as the index date. In the control group, the latter date which the bronchodilator response negative and the provocation test were negative once was defined as the index date.Results: In total, 1292 patients with asthma and 2105 control participants were included. Twenty-nine (1.3%) asthma patients and 31 control patients died during the mean 150.84 ± 1.45 months follow-up period. There was no significant difference. (Logrank test P=0.73) Cancer was the most common cause of death for both group (20 (64.5%) vs 18 (62.1%), and pneumonia was the following cause. Conclusions: There was no statistically significant differences in the survival and mortality of the normal control group in the analysis of asthma patients based on spirometry
In this paper we considered the problem of estimating the bivariate survival distribution of the random vector (X, Y) when Y may be subject to random censoring but X is always uncensored. Adapting conditional Koziol-Green model, simplified estimator for bivariate survival function is proposed. We perform simulation to compare the proposed estimator with popular estimators and discussed the performance of it.
