Paclitaxel has been widely used for treating many solid tumors. Although colonic toxicity is an unusual complication of paclitaxel-based chemotherapy, the reported toxicities include pseudomembranous colitis, neutropenic enterocolitis and on rare occasions ischemic colitis. Genexol-PM(R), which is a recently developed cremophor-free, polymeric micelle-formulated paclitaxel, has shown a more potent antitumor effect because it can increase the usual dose of paclitaxel due to that Genexol-PM(R) does not include the toxic cremophor compound. We report here on a case of a 57-year-old man with advanced non-small cell lung cancer and who developed ischemic colitis after chemotherapy with Genexol-PM(R) and cisplatin. He complained of hematochezia with abdominal pain on the left lower quadrant. Colonoscopy revealed diffuse mucosal hemorrhage and edema from the sigmoid colon to the splenic flexure. After bowel rest, he recovered from his symptoms and the follow-up colonoscopic findings showed that the mucosa was healing. Since then, he was treated with pemetrexed monotherapy instead of a paclitaxel compound and platinum.

Background: Pemetrexed, a multi-targeted antifolate has been used as a second line treatment against non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We aimed to clarify the efficacy and survival according to line of treatment, histologic type, and expression of thymidylate synthase (TS). Methods: Ninety-eight patients were treated with pemetrexed as a second line treatment (n=43) or as an additional course of treatment (n=55). TS expression was studied with immunohistochemistry and graded as 0 to 3 based on the extent of expression. Results: The response rate (RR) in 98 subjects was 10.2% and the disease control rate (DCR=PR+SD) was 30.6%. RR and DCR were 12.7% and 32.7% in non-squamous cell carcinoma (NSQC) compared to 7.0% and 27.9% in squamous cell carcinoma (SQC) (p>.05). No significant differences in RR and DCR were observed between a second line group (4.7%, 20.9%) and a further line group (14.5%, 38.2%). A similar trend was observed in the 88 response evaluable subjects. TS was expressed in 28.6% (grade 1), 24.5% (grade 2) and 7.1% (grade 3), respectively, and it was not expressed in 39.8% of subjects. TS expression rate was significantly higher in the SQC (72.1%) compared to NSQC (50.9%, p=0.033). However, the efficacy of pemetrexed was not significantly different by the extent of TS expression. Conclusion: Pemetrexed showed efficacy, not only in a second-line setting, but also in further lines of treatment for NSCLC. The efficacy of pemetrexed tended to be higher in patients with NSQC compared to SQC. TS expression rate was significantly higher in SQC compared to NSQC.

In this study the releasing of nutrients from sediments of Nak-dong River were investigated. We perfomed lab-scale simulation experiments using field sediment and ware. Nutrients, orgarni matter, particle size of the sediments and nutrients of released water were analyzed. Analyzed results of the sediments, mainly composed of mS(muddy Sand) sedimentary facies and IL were 2.46~6.83%, T-N were 1.189~2.492 mg/kg, and T-P were 333~726 mg/kg in the study area. Analyzed results of the nutrients of released water, pH and TOC were each 7.8~9.2% and 31.7~40.8% decreased after 20 days. T-N increased steadily, and NH3-N increased steadily then decreased, at this time NO3-N increase. Also NH3-N increased steadily, then decreased at this time. Furthermore release of phosphorus were mostly decreased.
조도센서를 활용한 철도차량 객실등 자동제어 시스템 개발

철도차량의 객실등은 일반적으로 운전실에 위치한 객실등 스위치를 운전자가 직접조작하여 제어하는 것이 일반적이다. 하지만 이집트 카이로 전동차 프로젝트 설계 수행시 시행청에서는 자동차의 전조등과 같이 외부 조도에 따라 객실등이 자동으로 ON/OFF되는 시스템 적용을 요구하였다. 이에 조도센서를 활용한 철도차량 객실등 자동제어 시스템 개발과정을 공유하고 적용사례를 소개하여 추후 비슷한 설계 사양을 만족해야하는 프로젝트 수행에 있어 도움이 되고자 본 논문을 작성한다. Generally, Saloon lights for railway vehicles are controlled with switch operated by driver. But during the design stage of EGYPT CAIRO metro project, the customer requested that Applying saloon light automatic control system which is controlling saloon light’s ON/OFF depending on exterior illumination intensity like automobile’s headlights. Therefore, this paper is written for future project so that it can be used for help and advice.’

This study was performed to confirm whether ghost cell in the anterior chamber could block the outflow pathway to lead the increase of the intraocular pressure. Autologous ghost cell was injected into the anterior chamber to observe the fate of the ghost cell was injected into the anterior chamber to observe the fate of the ghost cell in 6 pigmented rabbits within normotensive ocular pressure. The fresh blood from the 6 pigmented rabbits was aspirated to make ghost cell, which was formed in the incubator under the two weeks-incubation. The eyeball was enucleated on 3 days, 7 days and 14 days after infection of ghost cell into the anterior chamber respectively to observe the trabecular meshwork under the transmission electron microscopy. Ghost cells and red cellular debris are observed within the cytoplasm fo the macrophage and endothelial cells of the trabecular meshwork. The nuclear membrane of the trabecular endothelial cell was also markedly indented to indicate the increased activity of the endothelial cell. These findings suggest that ghost cells and red cellular debris may be eliminated through the processes of the phagocytosis and digestion by the trabecular endothelial cell as the biologic filter. Ghost cell within the trabecular meshwork may be a minor role in the elevation of the intraocular pressure.
