<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The development of a new concept of support for catalytic activity is important in the development of catalysts. Dual-supports, composed of a mixture of two metal oxides, can increase catalytic activities by controlling the oxidation state of metal catalysts, as well as give multi-functionality to the catalyst, including photocatalytic properties and reusability. We report an aqueous-phase synthesis of Pd/ and Pt/TiO<SUB>2</SUB>/Fe<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> hybrid nanostructures. The synthesized nanostructures had metal nanoparticles with sizes of less than 2.8 nm. Effects of Water-loading Weight Loss on the Physiological Response in College Wrestlers

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of water-loading weight loss on physiologic response. METHODS: Thirteen consenting university wrestlers (weight 71.5±8.0 kg, BMI 25.0±2.0 kg/m²) randomly divided into the weight loss (WL) group (n=6) and water-loading weight loss (WWL) group (n=7). Wrestlers performed 2-week weight loss program targeting average of 5-10% of body weight reduction, under the supervision of a coach. Participants were instructed to drink 1.5-2 L and 6-7 L daily during the first week in the WL and WWL groups, respectively. Both groups were gradually reduced water intake and didn’t drink water the day before weighing. Anthropometric characteristics, hematocrit (HCT), serum electrolytes, aldosterone, and cortisol were measured before and after weight loss. Data were analyzed with two-way ANOVA using SPSS. The significance level was set at p<.05. RESULTS: After 2 weeks, the weight (p=.004), BMI (p<.001), lean body mass (p<.001), body water composition (p<.001), and SBP (p=.046) were reduced significantly in both groups. However, there was no statistically significant between-group difference in all parameters of body composition and SBP. The HCT and chloride (Cl-) decreased in both WL and WWL groups (p=.018 and p=.006, respectively). Serum aldosterone and cortisol significantly increased in both groups (p<.001). In particular, cortisol was significantly lower in the WWL than in WL group. CONCLUSIONS: This study suggested that a large-volume hydration before water restriction for weight loss can be a safe method.

본 논문은 객체 데이터베이스 속성을 적용하여 데이터베이스 스키마를 생성하고 XML 문서를 저장하는 기법을 제안한다. 기존의 관계형 데이터베이스는 트리 기반의 XML 문서를 플랫한 테이블에 저장하므로 모델 불일치 문제가 발생한다. 또한, 문서를 검색할 때 고비용의 조인 연산이 필요하다. 하지만 객체 데이터베이스의 집합값 속성과 객체참조 속성은 트리 기반의 XML 문서를 저장할 때 모델 측면에서 자연스럽다. 집합값 속성과 객체참조 속성은 XML 질의에 자주 사용되는 경로질의 및 순서를 이용하는 질의를 처리할 때에도 유리하다. 본 논문에서는 객체 데이터베이스의 집합값 속성과 객체참조 속성을 이용하여 XML 문서를 저장하기 위한 2가지의 DTD-의존적 스키마 설계 기법인 Ⅰ) 기본 규칙, Ⅱ) 인라인 규칙을 제시한다. 다양한 XML 문서에 대해 각각의 규칙에 따른 클래스 수, 저장 공간, 그리고 질의처리 시간을 비교 분석하였다.
데이터베이스 효율성 강화를 위하여 지식베이스를 이용한 다단계 주소 정제 방안

데이터베이스는 인터넷 사이버 공간에서 사용자 개인 정보와 활용 정보 등을 저장, 관리 하고 있다. 저장된 불필요한 많은 양의 데이터를 삭제 하거나 혹은 올바른 정보로 수정하여 데이터베이스를 운영한다면 데이터베이스의 유지 보수에 필요한 비용을 감소 시킬 수 있으며, 데이터의 오류로 발생할 수 있는 우편 발송이나 기타 사용자 관리 등에서의 부차적인 손실 또한 막을 수 있는 이점이 있다. 이를 위하여 본 논문에서는 데이터베이스에서 사용자 주소를 올바른 주소로 정제해 줄 수 있도록 지식기반을 이용한 다단계 정제방안에 대해 제안한다.

Waste incinerator is difficult to control since the composition of solid refused fuel (SRF) can change randomly under certain specification. In this study, a model-based controller was designed for waste incinerator and steam generator by using linear-quadratic regulator (LQR). Input variables were chosen as air and fuel supply rates, and output variables were steam flow rate and oxygen concentration of exhaust gas, thus requiring a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) control scheme. Control gain matrix was evaluated repeatedly at each time step based on nonlinear control model, which could predict the output variables covering the range of operations for the incinerator plant installed in Ul-San-Si. Then, the controller was applied to the developed plant model, which was validated with the experimental data of the designated plant. As a result, the disturbance on the system was effectively rejected, and steam production rate could be controlled to achieve the desired values.
Relationship of PGC-1α Gene Polymorphism With Insulin Resistance Syndrome in Korean Children

<P>This study aimed to investigate the associations between peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator-1α (PGC-1α) gene Gly482Ser polymorphism (rs8192678) and parameters of insulin resistance in a sample of Korean children. A total of 286 children aged 10 to 12 years old were recruited from local elementary schools. Measured variables included body fat, blood pressures, blood lipids, glucose, insulin, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), and accelerometer-based physical activity (PA). Significant differences in percentage body fat (<I>P</I> = .016), insulin (<I>P</I> = .013), and HOMA-IR (<I>P</I> = .007) were found according to Gly482Ser genotype, with no significant genotype differences in the other measured variables. The genotype-specific differences in insulin (<I>P</I> = .136) and HOMA-IR (<I>P</I> = .067) were significantly attenuated when adjusted for age, sex, Tanner stage, body fat, and PA. The findings of the study suggest that the genetic effects of the PGC-1α genotypes on parameters of insulin resistance might be modulated by lifestyle factors, including PA and body fatness.</P>
