Metal Dusting Behavior of 321 Stainless Steel: Effects of Edge and Corner
Chia-Hao Chang,Wen-Ta Tsai 대한금속·재료학회 2011 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.17 No.2
The metal dusting behavior of 321 stainless steel (SS) in a flowing mixed CO/H_2/H_2O gas stream at 600 °C for 500 h and 1000 h was investigated. The microstructures and chemical compositions of the reaction products at the surface and those in the substrate under the pits were examined by using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and a transmission electron microscope (TEM), each combined with an energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The phenomenon of a pitting attack that occurred preferentially at the edges and corners of the specimens was the focus of this study. The carburization behavior in the steel substrate under the pits was also characterized. Matrix carbide in the form of Cr_7C_3 and grain oundary carbide in the form of Cr_23C_6 were identified by TEM.
Development of Graphene-based Sensors on Paper Substrate for the Measurement of pH Value of Analyte
Chia-Yi Lee,Kin Fong Lei,Shiao-Wen Tsai,Ngan-Ming Tsang 한국바이오칩학회 2016 BioChip Journal Vol.10 No.3
With excellent properties of graphene material, a number of graphene-based devices have been developed with excellent performance in the past decades. However, difficulty of processing graphene material is a hurdle for its practical realization. In this work, we propose to use vacuum filtration process as the major technique to fabricate graphene-based devices. This technique is simple and effective to practically realize graphene-based sensors on paper substrate, which are equipped with the advantages of low cost, simplicity, flexibility, and disposability. In order to show the functionality of the sensor, determination of pH value of analyte was demonstrated by direct measurement of the resistance across the sensor. Results showed that the sensor has the sensitivity of 30.8 Ω/pH and high linearity (R2=0.9282). Since graphene material can be functionalized by various molecules, it is expected that the graphene-based sensor can be further developed to realize more chemical and biological assays with high sensitivity and specificity for remote environment.
Design and Implementation of Ozone Generators with Area-graph Method to Model DBD Chamber
Tsai-Fu Wu,Ling-Chia Yu,Jou-Wen Chen 전력전자학회 2019 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2019 No.5
The most well-known models of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) ozone generator chambers are nonlinear model and linear model. And the Lissajous method is usually applied for obtaining the key parameters of these two equivalent models. However, it requires an extra large capacitor and an inductanceless voltage divider, resulting in loading effect to the cell. An area-graph method that can overcome the limitations of Lissajous method is proposed in this paper. A comparison between simulated and experimental results with both Lissajous method and the proposed graphing method is presented.

During the past two centuries, due to too fast growth of the human population, the pollution made by human has seriously impacts on our environment, particularly, for the CO2 emission. To diminish the CO2 emission problem, one of the effective solutions is applying lightweight material, such as the fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP), to replace metal in the manufacturing of transportation vehicles. However, since the reinforced function of the fibers inside plastic matrix is very complex, it is not easy to be visualized and managed. Specifically, the connection from microstructures of the fibers to the physical properties of the final product is far from our understanding. In this study, we have proposed a benchmark with three standard specimens based on ASTM D638 with different gate designs. This system is used to study the fiber microstructures and associated mechanical properties using numerical simulation and experimental studies. Results showed that the tensile properties (including tensile modulus and tensile stress) of all three ASTM standard specimens can be improved significantly in the appearance of the fibers. Moreover, the tensile properties variation of the finished parts associated with the microstructures of the short fibers based on the gate design have been also investigated. Specifically, the tensile modulus and the strength of the Model I are greater than that of Model II, while Model III is much less than others because of its double gate effect. The reason why the tensile modulus and the strength of the Model I is greater than that of Model II is due to some entrance effect. That entrance effect will further provide flow-induced fiber orientation to melt and then enhance the tensile properties of Model I. To confirm the observation, a series simulation and experimental studies have been performed. Specifically, the fiber orientation distribution is predicted using CAE, and verified using micro-CT scan and image analysis by Avizo software. Hence, the correlation from fiber microstructure feature (particularly in fiber orientation) to tensile modulus and tensile stress for fiber reinforced thermoplastic (FRP) in injection molding process can be validated.

( Shiaw Wen Tien ),( Yi Chan Chung ),( Chih Hung Tsai ),( Chia Hsiang Hsieh ),( Hung Hsi Chen ) 한국품질경영학회 2007 The Asian Journal on Quality Vol.8 No.1
This research probes into the execution of small and medium-sized enterprises` value creativities by a difference analysis with different classifications, different capital, different turnover, different employees, and different established years. This study develop a questionnaire about value creativity with five dimensions and thirty-five items according to “Valuation” by McKinsey and Company, Inc. and Copeland et al., such as: “Aspiration and target,” “Portfolio management,” “Organization design,” “Process management,” and “Business and individual performance management.” The results are as follows: (1) Most small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have executed value creativities; (2) There is a difference in the execution of value creativities between the livelihood industry and the chemical industry; the execution of value creativities by livelihood industry is better than the chemical industry; (3) For value creativities of the execution of different capital and turnover for SMEs, bigger entities are better than smaller ones; (4) For the value creativities of the execution of different numbers of staff in SMEs, those with more staff are better than those with fewer staff; (5) For the value creativities of the execution of different established years for SMEs, those established longer are better than those established shorter.
Development of seven secondary neoplasms in a nevus sebaceous: a case report and literature review
Kuo, Yi-Wen,Lin, Jung-Chia,Tsai, Wei-Hsuan Korean Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association 2022 Archives of Craniofacial Surgery Vol.23 No.2
Nevus sebaceous of Jadassohn is a congenital cutaneous hamartoma with epidermal, sebaceous, follicular, and apocrine structures that usually appears at birth or in early childhood. It has the potential to generate a variety of secondary neoplasms of different lineages, and the risk increases with patient age. Although multiple neoplasms may occasionally arise within the same lesion, the coexistence of more than five secondary tumors is extremely rare. Here we report a case of seven secondary tumors including syringocystadenoma papilliferum, desmoplastic trichilemmoma, sebaceoma, trichoblastoma, pigmented trichoblastoma, sebaceous adenoma, and tumor of follicular infundibulum arising within a nevus sebaceous. The complete diagnosis relies on the histopathological analysis of multipoint biopsies and delicate pathological sections.
