An Eustoma grandiflorum APETALA1 (EgAP1) gene showing high homology to the SQUA subfamily of MADS-box genes was isolated and characterized. EgAP1, containing a conserved euAP1 motif at the C-terminus, showed high sequence identity to Antirrhinum majus SQUAMOSA in the SQUA subfamily. EgAP1 mRNA was detected in the leaf and expressed significantly higher in young flower buds than in mature flower buds. In flowers, EgAP1 mRNA was strongly detected in sepal, weakly detected in petal and was absent in stamen and carpel. Transgenic Arabidopsis plants ectopically expressing EgAP1 flowered early and produced terminal flowers. In addition, the conversion of petals into stamen-like structures was also observed in 35S::EgAP1 flowers. 35S::EgAP1 was able to complement the ap1 flower defects by restoring the defect for sepal formation and significantly increasing second whorl petal production in Arabidopsis ap1 mutant plants. These results revealed that EgAP1 is the APETALA1 homolog in E. grandiflorum and that the function of EgAP1 is involved in floral induction and flower formation.

With the aim of examining the effects of implementing international financial reporting standards (IFRS) on teaching accounting and auditing at universities and colleges in Vietnam, a case study was conducted at 30 universities, colleges, and 208 lecturers in Vietnam. Next, the study employed the structural model analysis method by PLS_SEM software to process and analyze the collected data. The research results show that: (1) There are eight factors that affect how IFRS is applied to teaching, including the training program, (ii) teaching staff, (iii) IFRS application regulations, (iv) related party requirements, (v) faculty/school administrators, (vi) teaching aids, (vii) IFRS teaching methods, and (iii) students; (2) there are three factors that affect the quality of teaching staff, including applying IFRS to teaching at the university and colleges, (ii) Regulations on the application of IFRS, (iii) Requirements from related parties. At the same time, the study also shows that, regarding the indirect relationships, applying IFRS to teaching does not play an intermediary role in these relationships. However, at the 10% significance level, it was found that there is an indirect relationship between regulations on the application of IFRS by the Ministry of Finance and the quality of teaching staff through the variable applying IFRS to teaching.
Potential Endocrine Disrupting Effects of Phthalates in In Vitro and In Vivo Models
Tien-Thanh Nguyen,정의만,양현,현상환,최경철,정의배 사단법인 한국동물생명공학회 2010 한국동물생명공학회지 Vol.25 No.4
Thousands of new chemicals have been introduced to environment during last decades. Many of them and common consumer products have been shown to be the endocrine disrupting chemicals. One such chemical group is the phthalates, used in soft poly vinyl chloride (PVC) material and in a huge number of consumer products. The prevalence of these modern chemicals have a remarkable increase. Approximately 3.5 million tons of the main phthalate, di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), are produced annually worldwide and indeed, DEHP is considered a ubiquitous environmental contaminant. It has been demonstrated that high doses of phthalate can adversely affect adult and developing animals. In this review, we critically discuss the conclusions of recently original research papers and provide an overview of studies on reproductive disrupting effects of phthalates. In addition, we review the reproductive toxicity data of phthalates in some in vitro research and in both male and female reproductive systems in experimental and domestic animals. Finally, we point out some critical issues that should be addressed in order to clarify the implication of phthalates for human reproduction.
Challenges of Inclusive Early Childhood Education in Taiwan : Perspectives of Teachers
Tien, Kai-Chien,Clark, Gary M. 국립특수교육원 2007 The Asia-Pacific Journal of Inclusive Education Vol.4 No.-
The purpose of this study was to examine preschool teachers' perceptions of the challenges of implementing inclusion in early childhood education in Taiwan. Two focus groups were conducted in Taipei, Taiwan involving 11 participants, each of whom had been working in inclusive classrooms in public preschools for multiple years. After all the data were transcribed, the data were analyzed using a constant comparative method of qualitative analysis. Five themes emerged ; (a) teacher perceptions, (b) partnership/collaboration issues, (c) instruction and curriculum issues, (d) support system issues, and (e) professional knowledge issues. Together, the five themes provided a general picture of what challenges preschool teachers are facing in implementing inclusion in early childhood education in Taipei, Taiwan.
Second Order Suboptimal Power Allocation for MIMO-OFDM Based Cognitive Radio Systems
( Tien Hoa Nguyen ),( Thanh Hieu Nguyen ),( Van Duc Nguyen ),( Duyen Trung Ha ),( Guilllaume Gelle ),( Hyunseung Choo ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2014 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.8 No.8
This paper proposes an efficient and low complexity power-loading algorithm for MIMO-OFDM downlink based cognitive radio system that maximizes the sum rate of single secondary user (SU) under constraints on the tolerable interference thresholds between secondary user and primary user`s frequency bands and the total transmission power. Our suboptimal algorithm is based on the 2nd order interference tracking and nulling mechanism to allocate transmission power of the subcarriers among SU`s scheme. The performance of our proposed suboptimal scheme is compared with the performance of the classical power loading algorithms, e.g., water filling, 1st order interference tracking, nulling, and other suboptimal schemes. Numerical results show that our algorithm has low complexity but obtains a higher channel capacity than that of some previous suboptimal algorithms in some scenarios. We dedicate also that for a given interference threshold, the 2nd order interference tracking mechanism has dynamic number of nulling position instead fixed number of nulling position.

High-temperature (HT) stress is an environmental factor that limits growth and productivity in various ways, depending upon organ type and the temperature and duration at which plants are challenged by HT-induced challenges. Thus, understanding how plants respond to heat is crucial if researchers are to develop crops that can withstand a rise in average temperatures due to climate change. In particular, the impacts of HT on reproductive organs are directly linked to crop productivity and/or food security, two key issues in agriculture. We used the Arabidopsis thaliana model system to examine how an elevated daytime temperature might influence the development of sexual organs. After 2 days of exposure to 35/22 °C (day/night), fertility gradually decreased for 3-week-old plants. After 5 days of exposure, fertility was dramatically reduced and plants displayed abnormal stamens, i.e., short filaments, poor production of viable pollen grains, and defective anther dehiscence. In contrast, female organs remained functional. Furthermore, the developing pollen grains from stressed plants underwent aberrant cytokinesis that generated a high proportion of unreduced, aneuploid, and diploid pollen. The formation of enlarged grains may have been due to polyploidization, which contributed to temperature-induced speciation and evolution. Our findings will aid in the molecular genetic dissection of HT-related damage in male reproductive organs, which are the most vulnerable to such stress.

We present a method for improving the accuracy of the modal wavefront reconstruction in the radial shearing interferometers (RSIs). Our approach involves expanding the reduced radial terms of Zernike polynomials to high-order, which enables more precise reconstruction of the wavefront aberrations with high-spatial frequency. We expanded the reduced polynomials up to infinite order with symbolic variables of the radius, shearing amount, and transformation matrix elements. For the simulation of the modal wavefront reconstruction, we generated a target wavefront subsequently, magnified and measured wavefronts were generated. To validate the effectiveness of the high-order Zernike polynomials, we applied both low- and high-order polynomials to the wavefront reconstruction process. Consequently, the peak-to-valley (PV) and RMS errors notably decreased with values of 0.011λ and 0.001λ, respectively, as the order of the radial Zernike polynomial increased.
