Background: Some cases of QT interval, corrected QT interval (QTc), QT dispersion (QTd) and corrected QT dispersion (QTcd) have been reported in ESRD, but these results are variable and the influence of a hemodialysis is still controversial, In this study, we investigated the effect of hemodialysis on QT and QTc interval and QT and QTc dispersion in patients with ESRD 15 min before and 15 minute after each hemodialysis. Methods: Sixty-seven patients with ESRD (men 33 & women 34) on three-times stable hemodialysis (>3 months) were randomly enrolled. Fifty control subjects with a similar age and normal renal function were enrolled from this hospital. Routine biochemical studies were measured pre- and post dialysis, at the time of the ECG. Plasma Na+, K+, BUN, creatinine, ionized calcium and phosphate were checked. Twelve-lead electrocardiographs were performed at 10㎜/mv and 50㎜/s using a HewIett-Packard Pagewriter 100, before and after a single hemodialysis session.The QT interval was measured from the onset of the QRS complex to the end of the T wave. If the end of the T wave was not clear in a particular lead then it was excluded from analysis. When U waves were present, the end of the T wave was taken as the nadir between the T and U waves. Each QT interval was corrected for heart rate using Bazett's formula (QTc==QT/√(RR)) (ms). The difference between maximal and minimal QT interval duration was defined as QT dispersion (QTd) in each of the 12 leads. Result: This study demonstrates that QT, QTd, QTcd is higher in hemodialysis patients compared with control subjects, and QT and QTd rise postdialysis to levels comparable to those seen acutely following myocardial infarction, when patients are at greatly increased risk of potentially fatal ventricular arrhythmias, Conclusions: QT interval and QT dispersion, markers of risk for arrhythmias and sudden death, are elevated in hemodialysis patients, and rise postdialysis. QT interval and QT dispersion is an easily obtainable, noninvasive, simple, inexpensive, and widely available method of risk stratification in uremic patients receiving chronic dialysis. Additional studies are needed to clarity whether increased postdialysis QT dispersion results in an increased occurrence of arrhythmias.

In this study, our objective was to examine a time-history analysis method for simultaneously extracting the dynamic and static seismic responses of nuclear power plant (NPP) equipment. A finite element model of the reactor containment building (RCB) was constructed based on previous research to establish reference structural analysis responses. Additionally, we studied an alternative approach to the methodology presented in the previous regulatory guide, with a focus on time-historical input analysis. To generate a time-history seismic input, we specifically concentrated on creating time histories based on the spectrum-shaped inputs commonly used in the industry. To achieve this, we assessed the compliance of a self-developed MATLAB algorithm for artificial seismic wave generation with regulatory requirements. Subsequently, a seismic analysis was conducted in the time domain using uniform support motion and independent support motion. Furthermore, we proposed a method for generating inputs that reflected these features, and compared and evaluated it against other methods for generating structural analysis responses.

Acute renal cortical necrosis (RCN) is an uncommon cause of acute renal failure secondary to ischemic necrosis of the renal cortex. The lesions are usually caused by significantly diminished renal arterial perfusion secondary to vascular spasm, micro-vascular injury, or intra-vascular coagulation, In untreated patients, the mortality rate exceeds 60%. Early initiation of dialysis significantly diminishes this rate. But, most patients require dialysis and progress chronic renal failure. Our experience clearly indicates that tampon can produce acute renal cortical necrosis in a normal kidney and we must be aware of this potentially dangerous complication of the tampon.

In this study, the sensitivity of the drop response according to changes in material properties was analyzed to determine the material properties that have a dominant influence on energy absorption performance. Parametric analyses were performed using a spent nuclear fuel (SNF) transport cask as an example, wherein the parameters were the material properties related to the stiffness of the steel (the elastic modulus, yield strength, and tangent modulus) that constitutes an impact limiter installed in the SNF transport cask. On the basis of the analysis results, the absorbed impact energy and transmitted energy were quantitatively calculated and the variations in the structural response were identified. In addition, changes in the structural safety of the SNF transport cask were investigated. The results of this study suggest that material properties must be considered to effectively design a structure that absorbs impact energy.

1995년에 전국 350여기관을 대상으로 5월, 8월, 11월 3회에 걸쳐서 실시한 혈액학 검사의 신빙도 조사결과는 다음과 같았다. 검사종목은 전년도와 같아 백혈구수, 혈색소, 혈소판수, 적혈구수, 망상 적혈구수, 백혈구 감별계산, 혈구형태판독의 7종목 이었다. 자동화기기의 사용은 전년도와 같이 대부분의 병원에서 (97.5%) 자동기기를 사용하고 있고 수동법은 검사의 신뢰도가 매우 낮으므로, 자동화기기로 전환이 요구된다. 대부분 검사의 평균변이계수의 변화추이를 볼 때 상당한 개선이 있어왔다. 결과기록의 오류나 관리검체 사용상의 미숙은 많이 줄어들었으나 이러한 결과가 전기관의 결과에 나쁜 영향을 끼치므로 세심한 주의가 요구된다. Three trials of external quality assessment in diagnostic hematology were performed in 1995 with 351 participitating laboratories in Korea. We performed quality assessment for complete blood cell count(white blood cell count, hemoglobin, red blood cell count, platelet count), reticulocyte count, white cell differential count, red blood cell morphology, Most laboratories (97.5%) made use of automated cell counter for CBC. The performance of quality assessment appeared to be gradually improved year by year.

The finite element analysis (FEA) model of piping systems is commonly used to evaluate structural integrity under seismic conditions. However, after the Great East Japan Earthquake, it became necessary to confirm the strain response under the beyond design basis earthquake (BDBE) condition. In general, solid and shell elements are used to confirm the strain value; however, unlike in the case of the conventional FEA model for confirming elastic response, using these elements can incur additional modeling costs. In this study, an elastoplastic analysis using a beam element-based model was primarily investigated. Furthermore, to accurately calculate the strain response, the elbow element was used, and the appropriate degree of freedom of sectional deformation was determined using the Fourier expansion number. To determine the appropriate Fourier expansion number in turn, a determination method was used by introducing the flexibility factor, and this was validated by applying the derived value to the actual nuclear power plant surgeline piping system FEA model. As a result, it was concluded that the appropriate Fourier expansion number determined using the flexibility factor is effective in terms of conservatism and accuracy.
