• The Impact of Public Health Emergency Events on Health Behaviors : Evidence from the COVID-19

        Chenxi Guo,Qiuju Yin,Wanxin Qiao 한국경영정보학회 2021 한국경영정보학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2021 No.11

The emergence of public health events has a devastating impact on the health of people. However, it is still unclear whether the outbreak of public health emergency event would influence the people’s health behaviors in online health communities. In this study, we collect the data of users’ physical activities and content-generation activities from a large online health community in China from January 2019 to April 2021, in which period COVID-19 had outbroken in China. Through adopting an interrupted time-series strategy, we find that users expend greater effort on improving the physical activity level as compared with the time before the COVID-19. The burst of COVID-19 makes people pay more attention to their health and improve their health awareness. Furthermore, we observe that after the COVID-19, users are more likely to share contents on the community. Our results have implications for public health and online community management.

The relationship between bacterial diversity and organic carbon mineralization in soft rock and sand compound soil

        Guo Zhen,Li Juan,Ge Lei,Yang Chenxi,Han Jichang 한국미생물학회 2020 The journal of microbiology Vol.58 No.9

The soil organic carbon (SOC) mineralization rate in sandy soil plays an important role in improving soil quality, and a research is needed to determine management practices that optimize the mineralization rate. When sandy soil is improved by adding soft rock, the specific promotion process of bacterium to SOC mineralization remain unclear. To investigate these mechanisms, we selected four treatments with soft rock to sand volume ratios of 0:1 (CK), 1:5 (C1), 1:2 (C2) and 1:1 (C3) to study. The mineralization rate of organic carbon was measured using the lye absorption method. Highthroughput sequencing and scanning electron microscopy were used to determine the bacterial community structure and soil microstructure, respectively. The results showed that the organic carbon content of the sandy soil increased significantly (182.22–276.43%) after using the soft rock treatments. The SOC mineralization rate could be divided into two stages: a rapid decline during days 1–8 and a slow decline during days 8–60. With increased incubation time, the intensity of the cumulative release of organic carbon gradually weakened. Compared with the CK treatment, the SOC mineralization accumulation (Ct) and the potential mineralizable organic carbon content (C0) in the C1, C2, and C3 treatments increased significantly, by 106.98–225.94% and 112.22– 254.08%, respectively. The cumulative mineralization rate (Cr) was 18.11% and 21.38% smaller with treatments C2 and C3, respectively. The SOC mineralization rate constant (k) decreased significantly after the addition of soft rock, while the half-turnover period (Th) changed inversely with k. Compared with the CK treatment, the number of gene copies of the soil bacteria increased by 15.38–272.53% after adding soft rock, with the most significant increase in treatment C3. The bacterial diversity index also increased significantly under treatment C3. The three dominant bacteria were Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, and Chloroflexi. The correlation between Cr and one of the non-dominant bacteria, Firmicutes, was large, and the bacteria had a significant positive correlation with k. At the same time, the abundance of Firmicutes under treatments C2 and C3 was small. As the proportion of soft rock increased, the soil particles changed from point contact to surface contact, and the adhesion on the surface of the particles gradually increased. Results from this study show that the retention time of SOC can be increased and the carbon sequestration effect is better when the ratio of soft rock to sand is set to 1:2.

Study on horizontal diffusion of agent solutions in underground unsaturated soil: experiments and model simulations

        Chenxi Cao,Deshun Yin,Guangjian Xiang,Heng Guo,Yunjie Chen 대한환경공학회 2021 Environmental Engineering Research Vol.26 No.3

Solute transport or water transport in unsaturated soil plays an important theoretical guiding role in remediation engineering. In order to study the diffusion of agent solutions in practical remediation engineering, the soil column experiments of unsaturated soil were carried out using the self-made laboratory test device. The effects of injection rate and soil pressure (confining pressure) on the solute diffusion in soil were studied. The experimental results show that the injection velocity has a great influence on the solute diffusion in soil, and the change in the diffusion rate is not proportional to the injection velocity. The effect of confining pressure on solute diffusion was first promoted and then suppressed. The fractal Richards equation (FRE) model was used to fit the water content curves. The results show that the FRE model has a fine fitting effect on this series of experiments, proving that it can provide model support for the simulation of solute diffusion in underground unsaturated soil. At the same time, the physical significance reflected by the fitting parameters can be used to analyze the mechanism of the experimental phenomena.

Shaking Table Test of Water Supply Pipes Installed in a Full-Scale Masonry Structure

        Houli Wu,Endong Guo,Dezhang Sun,Chenxi Mao,Haoyu Zhang,Zhibin Liu 대한토목학회 2022 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.26 No.2

The seismic performance of indoor water supply pipes plays a significant role during earthquakes, and the failure of pipes causes severe economic losses and other disasters. This paper presents shaking table test research on water supply pipes installed in a full-scale masonry structure. Three different material pipes and three different material fillers were combined to evaluate the difference in seismic performance. In this study, normalized floor response spectra and pipe acceleration amplification factors obtained from experimental data were compared with code provisions. Spectrum analysis was used to evaluate the pipeline seismic response, and the results showed that the combination of pipes and fillers with similar material properties vibrated partially at multiple frequencies. In contrast, the combination of pipes and fillers with very different material properties only vibrated near the predominant structural period.

        Plasmonic roller lithography

        Chen, Xi,Lee, Sung Ho,Zhang, Cheng,Li, Qiaochu,Yamada, Kaito,Kwak, Moon Kyu,Guo, L Jay IOP 2019 Nanotechnology Vol.30 No.10

Photo roller lithography systems can generate patterns continuously over large areas by employing flexible photomasks on rotating quartz cylinders. In comparison, plasmonic lithography systems can reach deep sub-wavelength resolution utilizing evanescent waves carrying high spatial frequency components. In this work, we demonstrate a plasmonic roller system by integrating a quartz mechanical roller with a specially designed photomask based on plasmonic waveguide lithography. Deep sub-wavelength uniform patterns with high aspect ratios were printed continuously over a moving substrate. The plasmonic roller system may find practical applications in the large-scale production of electronic and photonic devices in a cost-effective way.
