The global commercial cultivation of transgenic crops, including glyphosate-tolerant soybean, has increased widely in recent decades with potential impact on the environment. The bulk of previous studies showed different results on the effects of the release of transgenic plants on the soil microbial community, especially rhizosphere bacteria. In this study, comparative analyses of the bacterial communities in the rhizosphere soils and surrounding soils were performed between the glyphosate-tolerant soybean line NZL06-698 (or simply N698), containing a glyphosate-insensitive EPSPS gene, and its control cultivar Mengdou12 (or simply MD12), by a 16S ribosomal RNA gene (16S rDNA) amplicon sequencing-based Illumina MiSeq platform. No statistically significant difference was found in the overall alpha diversity of the rhizosphere bacterial communities, although the species richness and evenness of the bacteria increased in the rhizosphere of N698 compared with that of MD12. Some influence on phylogenetic diversity of the rhizosphere bacterial communities was found between N698 and MD12 by beta diversity analysis based on weighted UniFrac distance. Furthermore, the relative abundances of part rhizosphere bacterial phyla and genera, which included some nitrogen-fixing bacteria, were significantly different between N698 and MD12. Our present results indicate some impact of the glyphosate-tolerant soybean line N698 on the phylogenetic diversity of rhizosphere bacterial communities together with a significant difference in the relative abundances of part rhizosphere bacteria at different classification levels as compared with its control cultivar MD12, when a comparative analysis of surrounding soils between N698 and MD12 was used as a systematic contrast study.

In recent years, there has been a phenomenon which happens in Jiaodong Peninsula and Pearl River Delta of china that some foreign-funded enterprises disappear overnight. The abnormal withdrawal of the foreign-funded enterprise has occurred frequently since the breaking out of American economic crisis. And this tendency is increasing. This not only brings serious economic losses to our country, but also has a negative effect on economic and trade exchanges and social stability. The phenomenon has been a matter of great concern ofthe central and local government departments and interested parties. At the same time, the government has issued some department rules and remedies. However, there are still many shortcomings in analysis and legal measures for the abnormal withdrawal of the foreign-funded enterprise now. So it is necessary to deeply analyze the phenomenon and the juristical puzzledom in the legal perspective. What's more, the effective remedy mechanism should be put forward.

Hongmian Road goes under Jihe highway by the way of tunnel in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, China. The tunnel hassome special characteristics such as shallow depth, large span, soft soil, busy traffic, and long distance under-crossing the operatinghighway, thus there is great difficulty and risk during its construction. A series of in-situ tests were conducted to reveal deformationcharacteristics during tunneling beneath the existing highway by the double-side-drift method (DSDM). The results show that initialconstruction method and measures can't meet the safety requirement of tunnel construction, and the level of risk is extremely high, sothe construction method need to be timely adjusted. By comprehensive analysis, the double-side-drift optimum method (DSDOM) isput forward, on the basis of which a series of optimum measures also have been put forward, such as reasonable constructionmethods, the suitable length of bench and excavation, soil reinforcement measures on tunnel face, optimizing construction process, closing primary support in time and speeding up the construction of secondary lining. Then the feasibility of this optimizedconstruction method and measures are verified by the numerical simulations. Finally, from feedbacks of monitoring results, theoptimum method and measures have been proved to be reasonable and feasible, and they can guarantee a successful pass beneath theoperating highway.

Lung cancer seriously threatens human health, so it is important to investigate gene expression changes in affected individuals in comparison with healthy people. Here we compared the gene expression profiles between smokers with and without lung cancer. We found that the majority of the expressed genes (threshold was set as 0.1 RPKM) were the same in the two samples, with a small portion of the remainder being unique to smokers with and without lung cancer. Expression distribution patterns showed that most of the genes in smokers with and without lung cancer are expressed at low or moderate levels. We also found that the expression levels of the genes in smokers with lung cancer were lower than in smokers without lung cancer in general. Then we detected 27 differentially expressed genes in smokers with versus without lung cancer, and these differentially expressed genes were foudn to be involved in diverse processes. Our study provided detail expression profiles and expression changes between smokers with and without lung cancer.

The ground movement induced by the construction of shield tunnels affects the safety of nearby underground pipes and aboveground structures. Therefore, the reliable prediction of ground movement is important. In this paper, a model describing the interaction between soil and an EPB shield used in tunnels is presented, based on the classical elastic theory of Mindlin. In this model, the changing location of the working shield is considered. The equations describing the ground deformation around the tunnel caused by the additional force on the shield working surface and the frictional force between the outer surface of the shield and the surrounding soil are derived. The ground deformation caused by ground loss due to shield tunnel construction is derived using stochastic medium theory. Finally, this model is applied to two running tunnels, and the sensitivity of the ground deformation to the calculation parameters is discussed.
Effects of Electrical Stimulation on Lipid Oxidation and Warmed-over Flavor of Precooked Roast Beef
Cheng, Jen-Hua,Ockerman, Herbert W. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2013 Animal Bioscience Vol.26 No.2
Many manufacturing processes damage the structure of meat products and this often contributes to lipid oxidation which could influence warmed-over flavor (WOF) in precooked beef that is reheated beef. Electrical stimulation causes contraction of muscles and improves tissue tenderization. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the rate of lipid oxidation or warmed-over flavor that could be affected by electrical stimulation of precooked roast beef after refrigerated storage and reheating. The results show that there was no significant difference between chemical compositions and cooking yields when comparing non-electrically stimulated and electrically stimulated roast beef. Moreover, electrical stimulation had no significant effect on oxidative stability and off-flavor problems of precooked roast beef as evaluated by thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and sensory test (warmed-over aroma and warmed-over flavor). However, there was an increased undesirable WOF and a decrease in tenderness for both ES and Non-ES treatments over refrigerated storage time. Electrical stimulation did cause reactions of amino acids or other compounds to decrease the desirable beef flavor in re-cooked meat.
Bicluster and Pathway Enrichment Analysis of HCV-induced Cirrhosis and Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Cheng, Peng,Cheng, You,Su, Mei X.,Li, Dong,Zhao, Guo Z.,Gao, Hui,Li, Yan,Zhu, Jie Y.,Li, Hua,Zhang, Tao Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.8
Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the sixth most common cancer worldwide and the most common form of liver cancer. However, while it is associated frequently with hepatitis C virus (HCV) there is only an elementary understanding of its molecular pathogenesis. Methods: To gain insight into the molecular mechanisms of HCV-induced hepatocarcinogenesis, we performed microarray analysis on 75 surgical liver samples from 48 HCV-infected patients. Results: There were 395 differentially expressed geness between cirrhotic samples and HCC samples. Of these, 125 genes were up-regulated and 270 genes were down-regulated. We performed pathway enrichment analysis and screened as described previously. Conclusions: The differentially expressed genes might be involved in hepatocarcinogenesis through upregulating the pathways of ECM-receptor interaction, focal adhesion, cell adhesion molecules and other cancer-related pathways, and downregulating the pathways of "complement and coagulation cascades". We hope our results could aid in seeking of therapeutic targets for HCV-induced hepatocellular carcinoma.
Glycerol steam reforming over Ni/γ-Al2O3 catalysts modified by metal oxides
Cheng-Hua Xu,Zun-Yu Huang,Chuan-Qi Liu,Hui-Wen Xiao,Jun Chen,Yong-Xiang Zhang,Ya-Cong Lei 한국화학공학회 2013 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.30 No.3
The metal oxides modified Ni/γ-Al2O3 catalysts for glycerol steam reforming were prepared by impregnation. Characterization results of fresh catalysts indicated that the molybdates modification abated the acidity and the stronger metal-support interaction of Ni/γ-Al2O3 catalysts, leading to a stable catalytic activity. Especially, NiMoLa-CaMg/γ-Al2O3 (NiMoLa/CMA) catalyst exhibited no deactivation along with glycerol complete conversion to stable gaseous products containing 69% H2, 20% CO and 10% CO2 during time-on-stream of 42 h. TPO of spent Ni/γ-Al2O3catalysts modified by different components showed that the carbon deposit on acidic sites and NiAl2O4 species led to catalysts deactivation. A lower reforming temperature and a higher LHSV and glycerol content were helpful to the production of syngas from GSR over NiMoLa/CMA; the reverse conditions would improve the formation of H2.
